Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 03:15:17 PM Just a little reminder of who we're back to watch today:
Table 1 1. Marc Goodwin 17,600 2. S. Sharan 17,700 3. Micky Pun 24,600 4. M. Jones 81,000 5. K. Broad 49,700 6. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 03:16:51 PM Marc Goodwin is OUT.

We saw tikay back in the main area being filmed nodding sagely which although presumably an integral part of the filming process does look a bit silly, there's no denying it.

Moving in with A6 against 78, we hear that the 78 made a straight on the river. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: 77dave on February 19, 2006, 03:59:14 PM just heard from jeff buffenbarger he has just lost a 40k pot against a shortstack jeff flopped a set of 6's against shorties up and down straight draw shorty moved in and jeff called
also news from brighton tighty has just doubled up and has 48k in very good shape and in great form Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Card_Shark on February 19, 2006, 04:03:27 PM Any news on Micky wernick ?
Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:03:46 PM Jeff Buffenbarger is OUT as well - short stacked after his 6d 6h flat call got a move-in by Z. Aslam on the small blind with Ac Tc - which he called.
On the Qd 9s Jh flop, he said, presciently, "Straight?" and sure enought the 8 came to put him nearly down to the felt. So his actual exit came when he flat called on the button with Qh 7h. The flop came Kh 8c 6d, and there was a threeway check. Turn: 6h C. Constantinou bet 4k which was nearly enough to put Jeff in, but he reluctantly decided to go for it and threw the rest in. Constantinou's hand: Qd Kc And with no heart coming (Ks river) the Michigan Man is out. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:06:08 PM A round of applause for both Mr Hm and Heid. ;applause; ;applause;

Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:08:08 PM There's been an oooooh from the far table. I think it involves this man, Bob 'Da Butcher' Clarke.
Watch this space... [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:11:29 PM Yes, the Oooh signified Bob taking nearly every chip in Steve Jelinek's stack. With Aspades Kh. Against Ahrt Ac.
There was one Kd on the flop, then three low hearts (no real panic for Steve's AA yet) but the Kc on the river set the table a-wincing. Sure enough - Steve Jelinek down to a couple of thou and muttering something along the lines of, "I don't mind in a £20 rebuy. Well, actually, yes I do..." Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:15:26 PM ActionJack and Z. Aslam get it all-in on a 5h Qh 4d flop... But they both had KQ (the Kh being in AJ's hand). He said "Just give me one more heart on the turn, just to give him a heart attack. Then we'll let him off." Unfortunately (from our perspective) there were no tension-producing cards to follow on the turn or the river.

Best of luck to Actionjack!!!! Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:27:26 PM Here's another interesting split. There was a button raise and a big blind call (from Wayne Fitzpatrick, we think).
Flop: 5h 2s 3h check-check Turn: 2h And all hell breaks loose - Wayne bets out, raise from the button to 6k, re-raise another 15k from Wayne, call. RIver: 8c Immediate all-in from Wayne. Call. It's Ac 7d for Wayne, and an extraordinary call with Ahrt 7c for this gentleman: [attachment deleted by admin] Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 04:32:35 PM Barely minutes later, and Joe Grech eliminates Wayne Fitzpatrick who was making a bit of another move with Kh 6d when the board looked like:

Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 05:51:25 PM ************************FINAL TABLE*************************
Peter the Bandit Evans is the 11th place finisher, after he moved in on the river against Joe Grech when the board read: Js 7h 4d 6h 7c To put this in perspective, the hand involved a battle of the blinds with Joe raising from the small, and Pete calling in the big. They both checked the flop, Joe bet 7,000 on the turn (was called), and the decisive check by Joe on the river gave Peter an opportunity to try to nick the pot right there with a large all-in bet (26k or so). But it turned out he held Qs 8c and Joe's Ts Td were good. Mickey Jones is a top player! He went a great run a while ago and he seems to have come back into form. Shaf can be a demon at the table, he is normally found in cash games but when he outs his mind to tourneys he can be awesome... my pick i think! Wish him goodluck from Ian and Latif. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 06:58:01 PM Ken Broad is OUT in 9th place, winning £2,050
In a big battle of the blinds, Ken Broad flat called on the small, and Joe Grech made a 6k raise from the big. After a few moments, Ken pushed all-in for the remainder of his stack (approx. 17k) and Joe beat him into the pot - he held Aspades Kd. Ken held: Ac 8d. A King came out first card and with the rest of the board never threatening Joe's lead, he adds another 20-something-thousand to his stack and busts Mr. Broad. In a well-spectated hand, AJ raised from the cutoff to 7,700 (blinds are 1,500 - 3,000). C. Constantinou on the big blind thought that was suspicious (as, I have to admit, did we) and re-raised another 15k. Paul moved all-in. Then a little flurry of chat went off: CC "I didn't want you to do that." AJ "I'll be sick if you beat me, just fold." CC "So you have the Aces?" and so on and so forth. Eventually he called and Paul showed the Ad Ac, up against 9d 9s, and with a 6 7 Q 4 6 on board ActionJack is in quite healthy shape. Chip wise. Joe is the eliminator with the monster hand 9h 6h ... which fit rather well on a 8c Ts 7d. Noice! Turn = 2d Joe bet 16k, Shafiq called. River = Kc The chips went in with Shafiq walking away from the table leaving a Q-T on the showing. (hmm, lots of -ing words there. Bad grammar must bee that.) Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 08:51:55 PM In another couple of places the payouts are going to start heading upwards ending in a double from third to second, and another double from second to first - with this kind of structure I'd be surprised if there were no business discussed... but at this stage that clearly hasn't come up, for with the exception of that extraordinary A2 hand there's been little superagressive play.
With Joe taking yet another chunk of chips, he's more than double the next player and looking ever so confident. With ipod installed, he even appears to be humming along. Easy for some, eh? Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 08:55:59 PM Bob Clarke is OUT in 6th place winning £4,100

In an absolutely ENORMOUS pot with, guess who, Joe Grech, I saw the tensest bit when on the river Mr. Troake pushed all-in for his remaining 50k. The board: 8h Tc Ac Qc Aspades. So not at all scary. The pot: Already around 200,000. We knew something was up as the spectators were leaning in... and eventually Joe called, with a straight - Jc Ks. Dennis flipped over Ad Kd and it was all over - he goes to be interviewed by Rhow and Joe stacks his mountain of chips. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 09:33:53 PM From the permanent big stack, to the permanent short one - George Geary survives yet another all-in. Okay, so he was ahead of C. Constantinou's 5s 5d with his Qc Qs - but hitting quads was surely over the top...
Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 09:36:07 PM And here's the man himself, quietly in fourth place, but still in. I reckon people are going to give up putting him all-in soon.

George Geary is 4th, winning £6,560 C. Constantiou raised on the cutoff with Td Jc, and George found Ad Ks - so fair enough, it all went in. The flop: 3h 2d Jc Turn: Th River: 7c And his run comes to an end in fourth place. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 09:44:06 PM Joe Grech extends his ridiculous chip lead even further -
On a board of 5d 6s 7h Qh Constantinou bet 30k, and was called. The river: Th and again Joe called the 35k bet which came here (albeit after a bit of a dwell) showing Qs 8c - which was good, as it turned out, against C. Constantinou's Qc 4c. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 09:47:45 PM ActionJack just picked up a tidy pot (also at the expense of Constantinou) with A5 on an A 6 5 10 7 board. I'm sure Paul will tell us after they cross the finishing line. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: T8MML on February 19, 2006, 10:39:44 PM It's been a long tough day. Can some1 tell me a joke please to cheer me up? snoops Last night I read a book about the dangers on your health of heavy drinking, playing poker and loose women - scared me to death so today I decided - no more reading!!!! Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 10:39:55 PM Joe Grech is winning the heads up battle at the moment.
Paul's hanging in though. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 10:41:17 PM It's been a long tough day. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 10:45:38 PM There's no folding preflop (at least while I was standing there) - with every pot being around 50k Paul goes from being a genuine threat to being potentially all-in. Just now, having lost a couple of sizeable hands in a row, he checked to Joe Grech with a Qs Qh Qc 9s 3d board, called the 50k river bet with 8d 9h and his full house was good.
Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 10:48:48 PM On a flop of 7c 8d Aspades, Joe bet out 40k or so, and ActionJack called.
The turn was the 7s - AJ bet 100k, and Joe Grech dwelled for a good long time before passing. I have to tell you that Snoops got a peek at his hand, and it's nothing like you might think... "Cheeky monkey!" is all he was prepared to say... Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 10:51:29 PM And at the last count, it's one of those even-er moments..
Paul Jackson 360k Joe Grech 460k Need we remind you that this is battle of the blonde hats? Despite insisting he looks "dumb" (on which we are not prepared to comment) AJ is still wearing his. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 10:56:04 PM Jen's got a stinking cold. Hope she hasn't caught RED's man flu.

I would love to bring you some riveting description of a huge tide-turning pot, won at showdown with a huge call, with maybe a side of card-throwing or some great banter. But sadly, I can't just at the minute - with the blinds at 4k - 8k they have slowed right down. But it is refreshing to get a bit of proper heads up play. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 11:20:34 PM Why does this always happen? I make some serious sounding comment on the game and then it does something to prove me oh so wrong -
Joe Grech is down to just 85k after a huge pot involving his Qs Qh and Paul's, er, Ad 8d. The fact that the majority of the money went in on the 8 8 4 flop might clear it up, if you were wondering how that happened... Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Heid on February 19, 2006, 11:22:37 PM Can we have some more pics of the Blonde Caps please?
Heid xx PS great reporting :) Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 11:23:02 PM Snoops has grabbed the camera in an "I smell impending action or end of comp" sort of way, and headed back to the final tableside (there is actually that other tournament going on tonight which has made for a nice cosy update corner).

Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 11:34:53 PM Grech has just doubled up to around 160k.
Flop = 9c 7s 6c check check Turn = 4d Grech bets, Paul calls. River = 5c Grech announces all-in, Paul calls immediately. Paul = 8d 9h Joe = Jc 3c snoops Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 11:36:50 PM Joe and Paul really seem to be enjoying the heads up action. Lots of good banter.
Joe has showed many a bluff on this final table, and, even when shortstacked, he's taking pride in showing his raggy cards. Paul is complaining about Joe's psychological games, claiming he's mixing with his head. snoops Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 11:39:29 PM Paul's stack.

Paul Jackson -- 610k Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 19, 2006, 11:51:52 PM It's typical, I get lots of amusing banter, but no pot over 20k and almost never a river, but Snoopy goes over there and they get to a proper showdown!
Flop: 2h 3s 8h Joe bets 15k - AJ calls. Turn: 7c Joe bets 20k now, again called. River: 6c This time they give up and check, and ActionJack shows 4h 4s to take the pot (Joe shows a 2!) The flop this time - 7c 7d 2d. Joe bets 25k, AJ calls (does this sound at all familiar to you?) Turn: Td Joe bets 30k - call. River: 7s check-check just like last time, but this time it's Joe's 2h 3s which wins over Paul's Aspades 3h... Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 12:28:33 AM They're back, and the heads up pendulum has swung back in favour of Joe Grech. Paul is reduced to one stack of chips - although they are all the top denomination 10,000 red chips, so that should be a comfort. But it's funny how a big wall of chips always makes one feel secure. In any case, Joe just took down three in a row, none huge but momentum appears to be on his side, for now.

"I want it all to end!!!" I think he means this comp rather than world as a whole. Anyhow, it didn't, Paul folded, and the marathon continues. Almost 2.5 hrs now Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Heid on February 20, 2006, 01:00:31 AM Okey dokey, I just tripped over the railing. Look like a right burk now. I can see Paul's cards a lot of the time... makes for fascinating stuff. Anyway, pretty big pot last hand:
Paul raised to 25k preflop, Joe called (there's a lot of preflop raise-calling). Flop: Ac 2c Qc Joe checks, Paul bets 20k, Joe raises to 50k. Paul calls fairly quickly. Turn: 3c. Joe bets out 15k, called by Paul. River: Aspades Joe bets out 80k and this is where it gets interesting. There's loads of chat - "I'll show you either way." "I really don't think you've got anything." Well, in the end Paul called and showed Qd 6d. The winning hand. Joe held 7h 4h. The mind boggles. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 01:40:44 AM Ah the fruit of Snoopy's reporting is here, in tidy little notes which put my heiroglyphs to shame... so here's the latest:
Joe is being helpful to our intrepid young reporter, and highlighting play of his hands. For example, on an Aspades 4s 6d flop, Paul bet 20k and was called. Then on the turn (9h) Joe bet out 30k, taking the pot right there. All this time Joe was talking to Snoops, including the sage advice that ActionJack was probably only trying a sneaky flop steal there because Joe was distracted talking to Snoops. Confused? You will be. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 01:42:22 AM Quote - Snoopy: "Do you realise me and Jen get paid the same amount however long this lasts?"
Paul Jackson: "Yeah - so do we." Fair enough. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 01:45:50 AM Flop: Js 3d 2s. AJ bets 15k, Joe calls.
Turn: Kd check-check. River: Kc Joe bets this time, and receives a call, showing the old Jack he'd had all along. Paul, "See - he's a sneaky b -" I think this is all to do with the fact that Joe's beaten him with 2-3 more than once. Oh, yes, here's the other quote: "His moves with 2-3 definitely qualify for the above adjective." Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 01:49:30 AM Another one for ActionJack:
With the board looking like 6h 4s 7d 7s Joe bet 15k, was min-raised and called. The river: 9h. Paul bet 55k and got the call - he held 8s 5h for the flopped straight. Joe showed a 4d, not entirely sure why. Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 01:52:30 AM This note has 'Big Pot' written on it so it's getting priority -
On the 8d 5c Jd flop, Joe bet 15k, and Paul called. Turn: 9h another 15k bet from Joe, this time raised to 55k. Joe calls. River: 8s apparently it "all went quiet...." Paul bet 80k, and again, was called. They showed - Paul 2d 3d Joe 9d 2s Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 01:53:23 AM I know, takes a while to work out what exactly both of them had. And it's not a whole lot...

He told Joe during the break that if he doesn't win he has to reinburse him the 1k. Joe laughed. The railer didn't. Eek. :o I'm scared... snoops Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 02:03:39 AM After some preflop action we see a flop of 7c Ac Tc
Joe bets 20k. Paul reluctantly folds, begging to see Joe's hand. Joe duly obliges, showing Aspades 7d Relieved, Paul flips over pocket kings. I was sure they were for me and Jen. Bah. Humbug :blonde: Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 02:24:19 AM Well done to every1 who stayed with this. It was exhausting to watch, but ultimately very fulfilling.
Some of the heads up play I witnessed was first class, delivered by two of the countries strongest players. Paul's patience, timing, and focus is extraordinary, and Joe's reading of the game is up there with the best. Awesome viewing. ... especially when Jen and I could sit at the table and take sneaky looks at each player's hands. snoops Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 02:35:18 AM Before we wrap things up here, I'd just like to say a big thx to the Broadway for their hospitality.
When our 3 (yep, three!) lappies failed us, they kindly lent us the use of their computer. Without that generosity, these updates probably wouldn't have taken place. So thx again. Also, this place is pretty cool. Probably the best in the UK. You could come here just for a drink and a laugh, without gambling a penny. Food is top notch, waitresses are friendly (and good looking), and the dealers are of a high standard. Big pat on the back for the Broadway. snoops ;applause; ;applause; ;applause; -- Can I have my monkey now please, Wolfy? -- Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Jen/snoopy on February 20, 2006, 02:37:07 AM Jen had to pop off with Steve (wormster) from the Poker 425 crew as he's heading back her way...
So, it's left to me to say well done to both Joe and Paul. byeeeeeeeeeeeeee Over and out. ;bigglesdog; Title: Re: Broadway Festival - Main Event - Day 2 Post by: Royal Flush on February 20, 2006, 02:40:30 AM Fantastic Headsup. Not a bad structure i presume!
