After a hefty battle with the wifi card, I'm connected and raring to go.

Yesterday wasn't the most fun-filled day I've had.

After rising at an unpokerlike hour, RED-DOG, B4Matt, and myself rushed off to the airport.

We collected our tickets and promptly boarded the plane after a good ol' fashioned English brekkie. I didn't want the balck pudding, so Matt practically begged for the dinnerlady to transfer the extra item over to his plate.

All good so far.

Until... the pilot informed us of some sort of fuel problem. Hmm, sounds promising. Glad they spotted it before we took off.

After an inevitably tedious wait, we were off.

As we ascended into the clouds, I suddenly realised that I'd forgotten to take my travel sickness pills. Me and travelling don't really mix at all, but I'm normally all right IF I've taken my pills. Oops.

After a few minutes of helping Matt with his frustratingly tricky crossword, I started to feel my guts turn inside out.

Right, head on table time. Deep breaths, sick-bag at the ready, and prey that the vomit gods don't slap me in the face.

When we landed in Amsterdam,  I felt dodgy, but manageable. As long as I take things nice and steady, I should be back to normal be4 the next flight. No sudden movements...

Unfortunately, due to the delay, we had to leg it to the next flight. Bah!

We made the next flight just as they were boarding, but, what a suprise, another delay.

Whilst seated, we are infomed that one of the hatches won't close. Smashing stuff.

Who built these planes? The chuckle brothers?!

The only good thing was that this delay enable my stomach to settle and probably stopped me from hurling on the trip. A blessing in disguise perhaps?

And, if the day couldn't get any more annoying, our bags failed to turn up the other end.

Foxy actually ran to one, but it wasn't his.  I think he managed to pull it off without looking too dawky. Well, almost.

After conferring with the Austrain airport staff, we were kindly told that our bags were on a  different flight. Yep, that makes sense.

So, after waiting another 2 or 3 hours, they eventually arrived. Phewee.

That WAS a relief as my whole wardrobe was in that bag.

I had to buy 6 new boxer shorts, 5 pairs of socks, 5 shirts, and 1 jacket, just so I had enough clothes for the next 12 days.

6 pairs of boxers in my collection at home is normally enough, but not on a trip abroad, although RED does suggest turning them inside out. He's on Day 3 of his apparantly. He tells me he can get a good 4 days out of them.

Anyhow, we're all here safe and sound. Appartment is pretty dandy and we enjoyed a friendly home game last night. tikay faired poorly, as usual.

Right, I'm going to post this now be4 my connection goes titties up.

Following my failure to win a seat in the super satellite last night, where I finished 26th with the top 22 getting seats I will be doing my bit to assist with the updaters.

Thats the problem with Schipol - as a fairly frequent transitter thru said airport you can be pretty guaranteed that if your inward plane is delayed, you might well make your connection but you can bet a pound to a penny that your bags wont.

(unless you are a KLM platinum plus holder when they will personally make sure your bags get on the same plane as you...)

He seems to be adopting a casual approach.

Precomp, he informed the updating team that he was not going to even bother sitting at the table for the first three levels, perhaps popping next door to pass some time whilst the blinds increased.

However, when he realised that there were only 4 players seated at his table, he quickly sat down to play a hand.

After moving all-in with an open ended straight draw and forcing a pocket pair to fold, he now has 13,500 in chips.

1 hand, 1 pot won. Not bad going...

Mickey is now down to 3,000 after a succession of bad beats. Sixes into a flush, a player chasing with A6 on a J high board to Mickey's KJ and AQ on a Q55 board, yep, the other guy had a 5.....we think he is a German.

And speaking of TV stars – we had a little fight over who would get the Big Questions – “What are you doing?  Why do you have laptops?  What exactly is this Live Tournament Update?”  I tried to get the beagle some TV time, but he wasn’t having any of it… I reckon he’s only bluffing when he says he wants to be on the telly.

Been having a few problemettes with the connection - I think since AlrightJack and Snoopy are whizzing along, I must be drawing the wifi short straw or something.  Dratted technology.

A couple of interesting hands from RED's and Simon Trumper's table.

Mateyboy to the left of Simon bet 5k on a flop thinking it was 500. He was bluffing and was actually betting into a made hand.

A constant re-raiser went for him once again, raising preflop to 400.  Brian re-raised to 2,400 with  Ac 7c and Mr. Raisy went all-in!  Brian called and found him with  Kc Kd, mere minutes after he took down two other players with AA and QQ.  This guy is apparently on 30,000 so I'll be off to get a picture of the early chip leader.

Micky Wenick is OUT.

After going down to just 1175 chips, he raised 175 preflop with AQ.

Here was Brian's comfy choice of footwear for the day.  He's a little disappointed at the moment, but admits that when someone else is being Table Captain it tends to encourage him to take risks early on.  "I folded about four times in a row to his re-raises, then I thought - f - it!"

I was really hoping they'd say 'Shuffel upen und dealen' today, but it seems that is an inaccurate translation.

And play has recommenced - a couple of stories from the break:  John Hewston has shrunk from 18,000 to just 6,000 after a run-in with two pair vs. his top pair with nut flush draw, in a pot which totalled 28,000!

RED-DOG and tikay have exactly the same number of chips as they move into the 50-100 level: 13,600

Tikay managed to lose with  Kc Kd against  Ks Qs just now - he checked the A 4 2 flop, the other guy bet the J turn, and eventually called tikay's raise, and the pesky 10 came on the river to straighten up his opponent and lose him a few hundred.  Could have been worse, eh?

Tony looks kinda flushed....He hasn't been walking in the fields next door on his break has he?

I don't know if the whirlwind of tikay's 5kup-5kdown chip varying has been discussed in any detail by Snoops, but I got some detail of one of his bigger hands -
tikay held  Ac Qc and raised with four callers for the  Tc 2h 4c flop.  He bet it all the way, as the Ace fell on the turn and even when another 10 came on the river - but his last remaining opponent immediately pushed all-in forcing tikay to cut his 6,000 losses and move on to the next hand.

Back in the small but very pleasant restaurant earlier, a bunch of players and some familiar antes-up faces were snacking during the draw.  Here's Tom and Steve both appearing deep in thought, Tom at his ultrashiny red laptop and Steve staring into the middle distance. 

Incidentally, Steve took down a tidy pot just now (we don't know what with, only that it was good enough to re-raise to 1,200 out of the big blind, and then check-raise 4k on the 9d 3d 3c flop).

Holding 55 on the button he saw a flop with a few other players - 5 7 8 as it happened.  It checked to him and what could be more natural than to bet 1,000?  An early positioner called him.  There came a 4 on the turn, and the early positioner immediately pushed all-in for his remaining 5k.  Simon passed and said "If this were a £500 freezeout I'd call and bust him on the river..."

He also just bought me a rather lovely cheese omelette so we're feeling well disposed towards him and his 15,000 stack.

Chat With Simon Trumper in Dinner Break Two:

He's back up to 12,000 after an early dwindle to around 6,000 and some self-admittedly bad plays with Queens and, er, 2 4 offsuit.

But a kind gentleman on his table decided to call his limp-reraise (he held  Kc Kd) and then on a Queen-high flop call Simon's all-in with  Ac 8c.  Seeing as there were no clubs on board this seemed especially generous - and this started his chip recovery.

Simon Hennessey has a little info on one of our Mystery Contestants - young Owen Simering was playing in the Satellite with him, and was a fan of the early all-in type move - 6k into a lot of 100 - 200 blinds.  "He seemed to like the 30x big blind raise..."

Anyway, Simon himself is doing pretty well, although down from his 22k of a little while ago to 16,000.  He gave me some hand detail, including a lot of excuses before revealing the hand which he played here, such as "It is a very loose-aggressive table.  The player on my right was the most loose-aggressive one.  We were all terrorising the quieter half of the table, and there were a lot of small raises all the time with multiple calls preflop."

Yatta yatta - what he's getting at is he called preflop with 3d 4d on the button.

Flop:  Ad 5d  9s  Preflop Swedish raiser bet 1,000, Simon called.
Turn:  7c  PSR bet 2,000.  This looked pretty weak to Simon, who was left with 10k to his opponent's 6k when he called.
River:   2c  (oh how perfect) and he got his bet of 3,000 called with the poor guy's A5 having been crushed.

Watching fairly short stacked Blondie, he raised in late position only to find the big blind re-raising in a confident "it's OK if you go all in for your last 3k" sort of way and had to pass, as did RED one table along, who had seen the board come Jd 5h 2c Qh 9h and bet out 1,200, passing when his opponent made it 4,000.  Still a good number of blondes in, however - including, if you've noticed, the pretty well-chipped Xuyen and Rob Yong. 

Is Bad Girl embarrassed about a particularly dodgy move, or just camera-shy?

I've found the cause of Rob Yong's disgruntledness (other than the fact that he's out) - the vast majority of his chips went in a few hands previously when he had  Ad Ac (as they tend to) against  Qd Qh.  The Queen was promptly spiked pushing a huge pot to his pre-flop underdog opponent, and there were too few chips left to him to push off his eventual eliminator.

Probably not the best time to say this, but a big happy 38th birthday to blonde's favourite moustached man, Mr Tom 'RED-DOG' McCready.

tikay just related a fascinating Surinder hand - a rainbow flop of 9 6 5 came.  Little happened.  The 4 on the turn saw a bet from Surinder, with Mateyboy calling.  The river brought a 3, and Mateyboy didn't look thrilled with it, saying, "Did you get there eventually?" 

Surinder bet 3,000 and said, "I have the seven eight of diamonds.  Had it all along."
Then Mateyboy said, "OK, I put you all in."
"Call," said Surinder, showing the  7d 8d, at which his opponent mucked.    ;goodvevil;

Hello everyone, Rob Yong here checking my emails on Snoopys PC. I bought myself an Austrian beer to cheer me up. I was in great shape with 27k chips when my AA got cracked by QQ losing me 25k. El Blondie, too is OUT at this stage (saying it's level 4 doesn't do justice to the amount that's been played today - we're a bit tired and we haven't played a hand) - I will try to hunt his elusive Blondeness for details, but no promises.  It's fair to say that he never had a big stack and played well regardless.

We are sure that they will be playing only six levels today instead of the eight advertised on the Structure Sheet, mainly because it will turn into a 3-dayer instead of a 4-dayer if they are allowed to keep knocking each other out through the night.

Nottingham Nick Gibson just took out a shortish stack - on a 6h 9d Js 9c board, the sb (it was blind vs. blind action) checked, Nick bet 1,500, and his opponent raised to 3,000.  He only had about that left behind, and called when Nick put him all in with  Ahrt 9h.  It was beating the  Kh Ks at this point, and one more is down.

Nick Whiten (pictured below) is up and about, but not out.  I asked him how it was going and he said, "Getting there...up to 9,000 now."  It appears that after an early drop to 5k he has been grinding slowly upwards, and looks pretty satisfied with his performance, to be honest. 

He was checking on Simon Trumper at the time I spotted him, who himself had dropped to 1,400 chips and was in the process of pushing on the button with  Ahrt Td, called by a losing  Td 9h in the big blind to double him up to about 3k.  "I never give up," says Trumper.

Success story of this level so far has to be Xuyen 'Bad Girl' Pham, who having stayed relatively stable on around 14,000 must have been really involved recently to be pushing the 50k mark.  One of the chip leaders at the moment!

Also doing well are several Irishmen (much to the delight of antesup) such as Len Collins and Kieran Walsh (both over 40k) and a very nice gentleman called David Bagheri who bluffed tikay off a big hand earlier and then laughed about it with him in the break in a most delightfully wicked way...

And  3h 3s was his double downfall - firstly he found the threes in the small blind, and it folded round.  He flat called and the big blind decided to put him all in.  Eventually he passed and was shown  Ad Td.  Then the next hand he found  Kd 9s on the button, and the same guy called his all-in raise with  3h 3s!  They held up and he was out, now torturing himself over whether they would have stood up for him too in the previous hand...

Impressively aggressive play by Surinder backfires, sending him down to the felt -

A limper and cutoff raiser were targeted by Surinder with a re-raise from the big blind to 4,300.  The limper (a young ?American lad with a permarailer attached to his chair) called, and the original raiser folded.
