Guprit Nagi has knocked out Linden Rowland with Ahrt Qh vs Ac Tc

Ben Vinson is on 72k

One early unfortunate heading for the door is Karabiner. Wrongly reported OUT last night by both DTD and us (turns out someone mistook him for Red Dog ???), he took a chance early doors and got it in with pocket sixes against A-J. Ace first card out. Ul, wp Karabiner.

It'll sell out but you best call now to see if you can get in.

Another early casualty is, we believe, one Matthew Seer -- he shoved with Ac 9c but couldn't see the call from Nikolaos Sforos coming. Sforos had Ad Qh and a total absence of suckouts on the 3s Aspades 4c 3d 8c board sent the Seer home.

Current chip leader Jesper Persson, we're not sure if he's Swedish, Danish or Norwegian...Here he is though, in mid-zombie regression.

We're down to just 90 players already, still rather too many for my liking if I'm going to be driving home tonight, but definitely an improvement on our 107 starters.

Latest to go is the curious Caroline Button. Somehow down to mere pocket change after starting the day with an admittedly not-great 14k, she got it in with 7-8 offsuit against the A-Q of the youthful Charles Flynn and the, er, A-Q of moderately youthful Gurpreet Nagi. An ace on the board, a split pot for the gents, and a nice Sunday afternoon off for Button.

Alan Vinnicombe is up to 45k after getting it all-in with Kings vs K-2 on a King-high board. (Incidentally K-K vs K-2 is the biggest advantage you can have in poker preflop).

Big Laz is out, "Played 2 hands, ran into Aces twice."

His Brother Terrence is also out with A-Q against Barry Neville's 5-5.

Unlike Button, plenty of short stacks are still hanging in by the merest thread, and don't seem to be afraid of sacrificing a significant chunk of their meagre chip reserves to the bluffy gods.

An interesting battle developed between relative short stacks Barrie Cooper (SB), Kate Langshaw (BB) and Ken Wheatley (B).

All three players checked a 9d 4h 4c flop and Cooper checked the 8d turn too. Langshaw tried it on for 2.5k, but the bet was so good it got called twice. Come the 4d river, it checked around to Wheatley, who bet 4.5k. Cooper called, Langshaw folded and Wheatley just mucked before Cooper had turned over the 9c for a full house.

Current Wee Stack Standings:

Ken Wheatley: 18k
Barrie Cooper: 25k or so
Kate Langshaw: 20k

Dewi James raises to 4,600. Adrian Swingler reraises all-in for 70k. Alastair Carins pushes all-in behind. Dewi folds Nines.

Swingler: Th Tc

Carins: Kc Ks

Kd 5h 9d Jd 7c

Carins is now the big chip leader with around 170k.

Barry Neville, "Now, I wouldn't ever give anyone a rubdown but that guy is an absolute fookin' donkey. It's personal wit' me an' 'im."

Hurrah, down to just 78 now. Early night looking promising.

Latest to go is Andrea Gough who got it all in with Q-J against the delightfully named John Dick's A-K. Not sure when it went in although I suspect it was preflop. Nevertheless, the T-2-5-9-5 board offered a glimmer of hope before spitting that glimmer back in Gough's face and sending her hurtling to the proverbial rail.

Mr Dick on around 45k now.

Dewi Does A Brave Thing

...or not, depending on what his cards were.

With the board reading 9s 5s Qd, Eddie Lundon in the big blind bet out around 8k. Dewi made a face for a bit, before somewhat resignedly announcing that he was all in . An insta-fold later and Dewi was up to 35k or thereabouts, while Lundon was down to a mere 15k.

Very happy with this result:

With around 17k in the pot by the 8c Qs 6h flop, a faceless Paul Lammas bet 7.2k from the button. Mr Steve Vine dwelled, huffed and puffed a bit, and then folded before wandering off for a minute to refocus or something. A grape move for Lammas against the Vine, and he's up to 40k.

Still no face:

We're down to just 90 players already, still rather too many for my liking if I'm going to be driving home tonight, but definitely an improvement on our 107 starters.

Latest to go is the curious Caroline Button. Somehow down to mere pocket change after starting the day with an admittedly not-great 14k, she got it in with 7-8 offsuit against the A-Q of the youthful Charles Flynn and the, er, A-Q of moderately youthful Gurpreet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) Nagi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868). An ace on the board, a split pot for the gents, and a nice Sunday afternoon off for Button.

The hand before she raised UTG and I stuck my stack in with AK. She turned over KK. 345 flop, 2 turn.

No cards above a Jack and Dewi almost felted.

Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2240) Lammas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2240) reraised all-in against Jesper Persson on a 5c 4c 3s flop, Persson eventually making the call with 6s 6d and sees the best hand he could've hoped for when Lammas turned over 2h 2s. Running 8c and 8h came on the turn and river and the Swede eliminates another player.

Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) has doubled up with Aces against the Kings of Alastair Carins.

A double up for Mr Steve Jelinek with pocket kings versus the pocket jacks of a disgruntled opponent whose name I can't possibly hope to guess. Not sure whether the chips went in before or after the flop, but the texture of the board was more or less one king and a bunch of rags, and Mr Jelinek was saying, "Well, you had to call..."

Not at all surprised at his masterful doubling-up skills:

Steve Jelinek -- 95k
Chris Bruce -- 23k ("I'm playing like a c***, Nick [Hicks] is playing like an absolute star though.")

Oh dear, a bit of a bluffy disaster for Ben Vinson. He became Involved in rather a large pot with Mr Steve Vine, and came off maybe 40 or 50k worse for it.

Vine raised from the button, and I believe Vinson reraised from the big blind. Call.

Flop: Js 6s 2h

Not sure who bet first, but VInson either check-raised or bet then re-raised. Call from Mr Vine.

Turn: Qc

Vine bet 9k, and Vinson raised to 40k, enough to cover Vine. Some considerable dwelling followed, largely involving Mr Vine staring vacantly at the board, and then Mr Vine called.

Vine: Ac Jc for second pair
Vinson: Kh 9c for a lame gutshot

River: Qs which did not ring Vinson his straight

Vine doubles up to well over 80k, while Vinson is down to 50k or so.

Frew called all in with his Kh Kc but Vasileios (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2841) Kontogiannis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2841) turned over Ad Ks, and with no help from the 8h turn or 5h river, he frew in the towel and headed for the rail.

Is he frewrious?

No.

Shame.

Erik Naslund saw a flop with Gurpreet Nagi; it was 2d 7d 2x. Naslund bet out, and Nagi called. Onwards to the turn.

Turn: another 7

Both players checked, and they proceeded to the river.

River: 8d, putting a flush out there for the less observant.

Naslund checked, and Nagi bet (more or less) a stack - enough that it would leave Naslund with only 35k if he were to call. He passed, and Nagi is on 115k currently.

A most unlikely disaster for Nicky Mclellan.

He raised to 8.5k in early position only for Tania Narine to shove for 35k or so to his immediate left. A call, and it looked like a split pot...

Mclellan: Ad Kh
Narine: Ac Kc

Flop: Jc 4d 3c (some oohing at the table)

Turn: Ts (the sound of everyone holding their breath)

River: 8c (everyone makes a face like someone farted)

Ouch.

Narine: up to 80k
Mclellan: down to just 20k

The one-man wrecking crew that is Jesper Persson just eliminated another player who raised all-in on a Q-6-5 flop with A-J but found Persson quickly calling with K-K which held.

Steven Frew is out now, and no doubt frewrious.

Morteza Assadi has doubled through Daniel Shelemy with A-Q vs K-K, spiking an Ace on the flop.

I arrived at the table to see Gurpreet Nagi bet 10.2k on a 2d Ts Qd flop, and Ben Vinson move all in on his ass, as it were, for another 17.9k. Call.

Nagi: Tc 8c
Vinson: Ad Th

Turn: Jd
River: Kh

Vinson's winning hand only got winninger, and he enjoyed a much-needed double up to 75k. Nagi on 91k after that.

Michael Greco is up to about 70k having knocked out another player with K-Q vs A-8 on a K-Q-8 flop.

Hassan Irfan raiseds to 8.5k from the cutoff and Jesper Persson makes it 20.1k from the button. Call

Ac 7d 2h

Irfan checks and then folds after Persson bets 23.3k. Persson can't resist showing him Kh Ts.

Booder Disaster

Steve Vine limped in early position, and an aggressive and possibly tilty Erik Naslund shoved behind him. Booder woke up with pocket queens, and reshoved. Back to Vine...

...and a call. Oh no...

Booder: Qs Qd
Naslund: Td 7d
Vine: Ks Kd

Board: 3c 4s Js Ac 2d with not the merest glimmer of hope for Booder. Both Booder and Naslund are out, and with that we're down to 5 tables. "WHat can you do, you play for a day and a half..." Ul Booder, wp, gg etc.

Unluckiness for Joseph Byrne, as he gets most of his stack in with Ac Kd against Colin Young's Aspades Qs.

Board: Ahrt 7s 4s 8d 5s

Yuck.

All in two hands later from the cutoff for his meagre 6.5k, he got himself called by Daniel Shelemy on the button. Mad Turk-alike Morteza Assadi reshoved, and again Shelemy called.

Shelemy: Ahrt Qh
Assadi: Aspades Qc
Byrne: Kd 9c

All three players agreed that they were actually very happy with their respective hands, and the board was dealt.

Board: 5d 6s Jd 7c Qs

Thus Mr Byrne is a goner and the other two gents make a slight profit by splitting the pot, and the bubble draws ever closer as we get down to 41 players.

Come on, hometime!

Massive Pot Alert

With Nikolaos Sforos already all in before the 7d 7c 2h flop, Rana/Harpit Gurnam moved all in to a bet from David Mundle. Some dwelling, some squinting, and eventually some calling.

On their backs.

Sforos: Jh Qc
Mundle: 8s 8d
Rana: 2c 2d

Yikes.

Turn: 6d
River: 6s

Thus Sforos is OUT, Mundle is down to 37k and yesterday's big stack Rana has somewhere around the 130k mark.

My, don't I take a flattering photograph.

Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) has more to rant about now, after taking down an enormous and bizarre pot.

Steven King Vine raised, and Neville reraised. Flat call. "That's not a problem, sir," lied Neville.

The flop: 7h Jh 5s

Vine checked, Neville bet a sizeable 20k, and Vine called so fast I barely saw his hand move.

Turn: 4h, and both players checked.

River: 3h and again, both players checked it.

"Flush," announced Neville, turning over the very feeble 3s 5h. Vine showed him Qc Qs, and promptly wandered off to calm himself down. Neville remained sanguine for a moment, before starting, "'E played thaht ahbsolutely 'orrendous..."

Neviile: 130k
Vine: 90k

Chris (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2825) Ellinas (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2825) is our bubble boy. He pushed for 20k after Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) raised to to 12k.

Neville was forced to call with Js 9s but was in as good shape as he could hope when Ellinas turned over 8s 8h.

A 2h Jd 7d 5h 9h board later and everyone else is in the money.

With a board of 8c 7s 4s 9s 4c and Js Ts in front of Gurpreet Nagi and 9h 9c residing next to Peter Renkel, you'd be forgiven for thinking this might have gone in on the flop, turn or river. Not so, "I made a move and it was all-in preflop" confessed Nagi, who is now down to just about 20k or so while Renkel is over the 100k mark.

Players on a short break. Chip counts for all remaining players to come.

Oh deary deary me, a very unhappy Chris Bruce is OUT. Steve Jelinek shoved with K-4 most unreasonably, Brucey called with a very reasonable Q-Q, the board came down with two highly unreasonable kings on it.

Brucey: "FFS, I'm f***ing so sick of this s***..."

Jelinek: 140k, and, "I should have told him it was a bad call..."

Nicky Mclellan found himself all in with A-K against Darren Shallis' A-K, and with no surprises from the deck, they split the pot.

A few hands later, Mclellan raised and it folded around, and he showed A-K again, to guffawing from the table. Steve Jelinek tells me that maybe 12 of the previous 20 hands, Mclellan had found A-K...

Kate Langshaw picked up a few chips, raising preflop and getting herself called by Alistair Cairns in the big blind. Come the 2c Ts 5d flop, he checked to her, and she shoved for her last 50k. Some squirming, but a fold resulted in Langshaw taking the pot.

And bless your hearts, Stratton fans - no sooner had I taken a dreadful photo of him than Dave Stratton busted. Looked to be pocket sevens against some sort of paint in Steve Jelinek's hand; a bunch of paint on the board and a sad Stratton putting his coat on.

Jelinek has around 230k.

Our two Last Ladies Standing are, er, seated next to each other, most improbably.

Tania Narine (on the right): just 45k, yikes

Kate Langshaw (on the left): was going to say a mere 38k, but she has just now doubled up to 80k or so shoving with Kd Js and getting herself called by Jesper Persson holding Ks 9d.

Board: no surprises

Persson: barely a dent in his monstrous stack

good luck to Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) and of course Rana the cardrack

Oh Iwan...why are you such a bok....and not just a bok, a bok-squared...

Literally at the same time Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) pushes over the top of Rab Bain's late position raise with A-J and eventually gets called by 6-6. Ace on the flop immediately followed by a 6.

Then as that's happening, Rana Gurnham raises to 14.1k UTG, and gets called by Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2966) Newman (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2966) in UTG+1. Gurpreet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) Nagi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) moves all-in from the blinds and Gurnham pushes behind with Newman quickly folding...

Nagi: Th Tc
Gurnham: Ac Ad

Ks Qh 7h Ahrt.....3h

Nagi has Gurnham just covered and the latter is out.
OMG any chance you can delete my post? vvul to both and I won't wish anyone else luck!!!!!!

Mr Darren Shallis is up to 210k after knocking out somebody I suspect may have been Nicky Mclellan with Q-Q versus J-Q.

Hurrah, Shallis fans! Woe, Mclellan fans. Some kind of emotional quandary for those who like both players.

SKULLMAN has been reduced to mere bones; in fact, he's busted out completely, getting his Ahrt Qd involved with Paul Newman's Ac Kd.

"There's queens coming," said a hopeful SKULLMAN, but he was entirely wrong, as the board came down 7h 8d 2d 9h Js and off he went, while his chips became Newman's Own.

Newman may have broken a nail in his haste to call SKULLMAN's all in:

Nick Hicks raises to 22k from early position, Steve Jelinek makes it 80k from the big blind. Nick quickly announces all-in for about 130k more on top, Steve calls. Biggest pot of the tournament.

Jelinek: Ts Td
Hicks: Ac Kh

5h 5c 7c 8s Jc

Steve's total count is 212,700 which is slightly more than Nick has and the EPT Grand finalist picks up a pot worth over 400k. Hicks is out and no doubt a little gutted about losing a flip which would be for a final table stack.

I think the photo sums it up.

Colin Young is down to a meagre 32k after raising from the cutoff and then laying it down to reraise from Gurpreet Nagi in the small blind that would have put him in. "I'm not sure that was the right thing to do," he muttered as he watched his chips slide across the table to Nagi, but whether he was referring to the raising or the folding is unknown.

Kate Langshaw is OUT, getting her chips in with Ac 9d and getting called by Dipak Makawana (I believe the only player left in who's wearing a suit) holding Ad Kc. Langshaw had a few more outs on the turn, but nothing came in and out she goes, the last player in the £600 bracket.

Board: 4s Ts 6h 7s Th

We're down to two tables, and everyone is now guaranteed £946.

Misfortune for Darren 'Newportlad' Shallis. Raising to 40k from the cutoff, he saw Colin Young move all-in for an additional 82.5k and made the call with 8h 8d only to run into Jd Jh. He's down to about 130k now, whilst Young is over the quarter million mark.

Matthew Tandy raised to 27k from the cutoff, and Steve Jelinek called from the big blind. A flop followed.

Flop: 3h Ks 7c

Check, check.

A turn: Jd

Jelinek checked, Tandy bet 45k, and Jelinek called.

River: 3s

Both players checked, and Jelinek's Ahrt Jh elicited a simple muck from Tandy.

Lawrence Gosney has done himself a bit of harm.

With 120k or so in the pot by the river of the 9d Jh 7s Ahrt 3d board, he bet 80k. Jesper Persson disappeared into the tank for a long time, during which someone unrelatedly knocked over a chair. Eventually he called.

"You win," said Gosney and mucked even before Persson had a chance to show him Kd Kh. Persson looked smug, and Gosney is down to 115k.

Indeed he is a Persson non grata as far as Steve Vine is concerned. Probably. Vine shoved with Ks Jd, and Persson called him from the big blind with Ac 7s.

Board: an excitement-free 3s 2c Qh 6h 5c and we're down a Vine in 17th place.

Gurpreet Nagi and Daniel Shelemy have a tussle in the blinds, raised preflop I believe.

7d 7h 3d

Check check.

Ahrt

Nagi bets 30k and Shelemy moves all-in for 63.5k more.

Nagi stares at his opponent for about a minute and says, "Something is telling me to call this." He does and flips over Kh 2s but before anyone can react, Shelemy is only able to show Qd 5s. The river is the 9d. King high is good enough...

"Call of the tournament," says Steve Jelinek.

"Call of the tournament," says Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) Jelinek (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414).

great poker by both- someone put this on hero call thread
Amazing call - preflop though if one of them raised, the other called with Q5 or K2???? hmmmmmmm

Gurpreet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) Nagi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) raised to 27k from midposition and Steve Holden moved all-in for 81k more from the small blind. (While Darren (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2665) Shallis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2665) does his best LeKnave impression in the background)

Asking for a count, Nagi was told it was 81k more back to him.

"Ok, I call," he said. Turning over 9d 9s. Holden flipped Aspades Qd

7h 5d 8d 7s 6c

A straight for Nagi and he's looking like a contender, while Steve Holden gets one of those frustrating cashes that are close but not close enough.

Well, I think we're going to get to the final by about 11pm and having a deal during the final table. That way 5 or 6 players can guarantee themselves £10k each.

Meanwhile back in Pokerland, Steve Jelinek made it 30k from the cutoff, only for Colin Young to reraise to an intriguing 105k, leaving himself just 80k behind. Jelinek made a face, and eventually folded, showing pocket sixes.

Alistair Cairns moved all in utg (apparently his favourite move), and Peter Renkel, shorter-stacked still than Cairns, called all in from the small blind - I believe for a total of 57k.

Cairns: Kc Jh
Renkel: Aspades Qh

Board: 5h 5c Ts Td 3d

Double up for Renkel, woe and perhaps 90k remaining to Cairns.

Monstrous Pot

Jesper Persson raised to 29k from the cutoff, and Lawrence Gosney called in the small blind. Our short-stacked Alistair Cairns, unable at this time to shove utg, shoved from the big blind instead for a total of 91.5k, and sat there clapping for a bit. Persson asked how much Gosney had left, and was met with the answer, "All you can see," = 95k or so. After a brief dwell, he passed.

Back to Gosney, and some more dwelling. And eventually, a call.

Cairns: Ahrt Qh
Gosney: Kc Td

Board: 5d 6d 8d 6c 2d

Meaning that Gosney had a flush at the end of that, and Cairns had a ticket out of the tournament in 14th place.

Steve Jelinek calls a raise in the big blind from Matthew Tandy who button raises.

Ad Qc Jh

Jelinek checks, Tandy moves all-in. Jelinek calls, mainly because he flopped the nuts with Kd Td. Tandy has err...Jd 6d and can't quite manage a runner-runner house.

12 left.

TOTALLY UNEXPECTED SCANDIE EXIT

Jesper Persson raised to 30k utg and it folded around to Hassan Irfan on the big blind. He reraised, to perhaps 100k. Persson made it All In, and Irfan called in about a millisecond.

Persson: Js Jh
Irfan: Ac Aspades

Board: 6h 2h Qh 7c 2d

Irfan is now the proud owner of precisely one s***load of chips, while Persson is down to, umm, 1k. Which is all in on his ante/big blind the next hand. Lawrence Gosney and small blind assassin Irfan limp in and check down the Ahrt 6d Qs Ac 8s board; Persson mucks and goes home and Gosney shows a queen to win it.

11 left; making it home to a cup of cocoa and bed by 3am is looking like a real possibility. Sniff.

11 left and quite a few short stacks holding on.

One of these, Peter Renkel just annoyed me with one of my own personal pet hates while Persson was still in. Dipak Makawana raised preflop and Persson was still deciding what to do when Renkel (next to act) just got up and left the table to go to the toilet/for a smoke. It really bugs me when people do this as it gives an unfair advantage. He got a warning afterwards, but I'd like to see things like this be treated as harshly as other action out of turn.

/gets off soapbox

In what can only be described as 'possible-update-killingness', Darren (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2665) Shallis (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2665) is out in 10th place.

He pushed for 103k with Aspades Jh and found Dipak Makawana reraise to 207k behind in the small blind. Hassan Irfan STOOD UP because he had A BIG DECISION, before meekly folding later saying he had Jacks.

Dipak Makawana showed Qs Qh

3d Ks 5d 8s 7c

Newportlad just pipped at the final hurdle.

Chip counts and final table photos to come shortly.

Yeah, one hand I didn't have time to post before the final was when he called Steve Jelinek's 40k raise preflop from the big blind and then check/called a 45k bet on an Aspades 7s 4d flop before leading for 75k on the 6d. Jelinek looked puzzled but folded. Nagi showed Tc 9c.

top coverage what time do u think it will finish, or will a deal be done

Well, I think we're going to get to the final by about 11pm and having a deal during the final table. That way 5 or 6 players can guarantee themselves £10k each.

Time of 10th place exit...

Well, play is underway, and has largely been characterized by gentle caginess thus far.

Sunny nicked some blinds with a moderate raise.

Colin Young raised to an ambitious 66k from the cutoff, but folded when Dipak Makanawa (henceforth to be known as Doc) reraised him all in from the small blind. Doc's chip lead gets bigger, and Young is left with 150k or so.

I'm routing for Nagi, played on a table with him at Broadway festival, he seemed like a top chap and a good player...

Yeah, one hand I didn't have time to post before the final was when he called Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) Jelinek (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414)'s 40k raise preflop from the big blind and then check/called a 45k bet on an Aspades 7s 4d flop before leading for 75k on the 6d. Jelinek looked puzzled but folded. Nagi showed Tc 9c.

interesting hand!

Lawrence Gosney bets 27k on a Kc Jd 9d flop but gives up when Paul Newman gives it the big Kahuna and moves all-in for about 300k.

Gosney then calls a raise from Frazier Beattie but folds the Qc 6d 2d flop before Beattie even bets.

Peter Renkel moves all-in for his last 35k or so. Auto-call from Hassan Irfan in the big blind.

Renkel: Tc 4h

Irfan: Kd 9h

Ahrt 2c 4s 6h Ts

Renkel doubles up.

Next hand and Renkel pushes over the top of Nagi's 45k raise. Call.

Nagi: Ahrt Tc

Renkel: Js Jc

Qd 6s 3d 4c 7c

Renkel now gone from a nano-stack to a micro-stack, can he reach short stack status?

Mr Lawrence Gosney made it 55k to go, and after a moment's rather excellent play-acting, Colin Young in the small blind announced that he was all in for 122k total. Call, and oops...

Gosney: 3c 3s
Young: Ac Aspades

Board: 6c 9c Js 5s Kc

The more perceptive of you will have noticed the absence of threes, straights, flushes etc on that board, and will thus have come to the correct conclusion; namely that Mr Young doubled up to around 250k. Gosney meanwhile down to 170k. We are still nine, and I'd like a nap.

Probably happier than he looks:

An interesting hand.

Paul Newman made it a min-raise 40k utg and there was a Mexican wave of suspicious folds all the way around to Doc in the big blind, who called.

The flop came down 5h 8d 7d and Doc checked it; Newman swiftly announced all in for over 300k. Doc looked as though he was really thinking about it, but passed. "Show it, show it," chanted Hassan Irfan. "What do you want me to show?" asked Newman. "Kings," was the very confident reply. Not 100% on this, but I'm pretty sure that Newman flashed the 2d...

Hassan Irfan seems to be more interested in chatting to his mates on the rail. Everyone else seems doped up on thorozene.

More excitingly, Richard (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1524) Hawes (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1524) is chip leader in the £150 with 5 left.

Doc makes it 56k from the cutoff and Lawrence Gosney calls in the big blind.

Barry Neville commentary: "'E's a rock what's raised that oop."

They see a Js 2s Jd flop and check it; in fact they both check the Qc turn and the 6d river until Doc shows A-K and Gosney mucks.

This could take a while.

Gurpreet Nagi raises to 50k with about 200k behind from the cut-off. Hassan Irfan sets him in from the big blind. Nagi sighs and calls.

Nagi: Ac 6h
Irfan: 5s 5d

7s 5c...("Yes!" shouts Irfan, "Fives, baby!!!")...4c

He's tempted fate with this flop though, but blanks on the 9s and Jh river means that Gurpreet Nagi is OUT in 9th place winning £1,893. He played impressively well during the tournament, we'll probably see more of him. Irfan is close to chip leader with Doc, but there's still 6 other dwarves still in...

It folds around to Steve Jelinek in the small blind, who shoves to cover big blind Colin Young. After a mere moment's face-pulling, Young calls all in.

Jelinek: Ad 8s

Young up to 400k, Jelinek down to 240k.

Hurrah, short stack triple up! What could the updaters possibly enjoy more at 1am with 8 players still left in?

No, no, bitterness aside, Mr Peter Renkel has just now tripled up his micro-microstack.

All in with a sigh for just 39.5k (not even a min-raise) in mid position, he got himself called by both Hassan Irfan and Frazer Beattie, who proceeded to check down the board.

Board: Kc Kd Jd 3c 2s

Irfan: Aspades 4d
Beattie: 5c 5s (suits the product of my imagination as I didn't see them)
Renkel: Jc Qs

Onwards we go 8-handed...

Frazier Beattie moves all-in from the button.

He's called by the blinds.

They check a Kc Qd 7h Qc 4h board down, where Doc shows Kc 4c and Newman shows Kh 3h. It doesn't matter though, Beattie has Qh Td to treble up.

This table is beginning to seriously damage my calm...

Hassan Irfan spends a minute putting on his shades before raising to 100k. Steve Jelinek moves all-in next to him. Call.

Irfan: Ad Ks
Jelinek: Kh Kd

Kc 3c Td 9h 4d

Another short stack doubles up.

Ooh ooooh, it looks like action to me!

Frazer Beattie moves in from the button for 167.5k, and with the minimum of fuss he is called by Doc in the small blind.

Oooohh, the big stack's well ahead!

Beattie: Ac 3s
Doc: 7h 7d

Flop: Qs Qh 8h

Doc's ahead.

Turn: 8s

Wah, suddenly Beattie's ahead!

River: 8d

An improbable chop, and we continue.

Incidentally, during my time final tableside in the past half hour so, I have discovered that someone on or near the final table is suffering from really bad gas. Too many DTD burgers?

i think when this 321 began, they never envisaged more than 200 runners playing in it.when they guaranteed it at 50k the first time it was crazy with players dealing and there being a very very long queue.i guess it just shows how great the tourney is with regard to its structure, but i think they may have to revise start times as people may have to miss work etc.but then on the flip side they are all in the money.im just waiting for some action.the blinds surely mean it cant be far away or maybe just maybe there will be a deal. an earlier start on a saturday would be cool i reckon as most players travel up either on the friday or early saturday anyway.it would also be a lot fairer to the updaters:) Ahrt Ac

On the final table aka Table Neverending Story, the story is well, neverending. Still 7 players but the average stack is now 16 and a bit big blinds, I simply can't see us not losing a player but somehow Renkel and Beattie in particular have managed to stay in forever. At the moment, it's more like no-one wants to lose rather than someone wanting to win. The value of still being in when one or two more players go out could make the difference between a low four-figure score and pocketing almost £10k.

Has Anything Interesting Happened?

Well, not really. I thought a hand would get interesting when Paul Newman just limped in in mid position and saw a 2c Jd Jc with blinds Steve Jelinek and Colin Young, but as it turned out they all checked and Young took the pot with a 100k bet on the Js turn.

The rather talkative Hassan Irfan has I think not quite been given a warning but gently upbraided by the TD for, I believe, trying to hurry someone into calling an all-in raise (the person in question folded in the end).

At one point Lawrence Gosney piped up, "We're all pals, why don't we take 11 grand each and go home?" which elicited some laughter at the rail but I believe he was very serious about it. Bit my tongue not to express my approval of this plan. Said Hassan, "If it'll shut you up, I'll do it." Gosney fell silent, but it's No Deal and the game continues.

Paul Newman, playing about 260k, limps for 30k UTG. Lawrence Gosney folds, muttering to someone behind him about being dealt a deuce every other hand. Hassan Irfan waits about 10 seconds, before slowly putting on his shades to look at his cards for about a minute. He eventually folds and uses another half a minute to take his shades off again.

Steve Jelinek folds sharpish. Colin Young thinks about limping for a minute, he then asks for a count of Newman's chips which is about 230k back. He then thinks for another minute and then folds. Beattie limps in the small blind and then instantly Doc moves all-in from the big blind. Newman folds, and so does Beattie.

Five minutes of my life I'm not getting back.

Frazier Beattie moves all-in and Doc moves in behind.

Beattie: Kc Jh
Doc: Ac Qs

Frazier Beattie is OUT in 7th winning £3,313

Has Anything Interesting Happened?

....

.....

.....

Yes!

Paul Newman shoved from the button and small blind Lawrence Gosney folded. Said Hassan Irfan in the big blind, "You're playing with FIRE! Actually I don't know what I've got. Hope it's something good."

He looked at his cards.

"I call."

Newman: Kc Qs
Irfan: Ahrt Qc

Board: 9h 3c 5h 3s 2s

Thus Paul Newman is our 6th place finisher winning £4,259!

Hometime creeps ever closer! Commiserations, Newman fans, it was a cool hand but not cool enough. That was some dance, kid.

Not sure what's up with Colin. Or the railers.

...And as though the players have suddenly realised that they have homes to go to, suddenly the chips are flying into the middle like little round lemmings over a cliff of prudence.

Hurrah!

Hassan Irfan raised to 180k utg, and big blind Lawrence (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) Gosney (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) possibly raised all in or possibly called, depending on how many chips Gosney had. It's a weird one. In fact, I'm suddenly unsure that I got the right end of the stick on this, but Gosney was definitely the big blind... Anyway...

Irfan: Kh Qh
Gosney: 4c 7c

Board: 2c 6s Ad 5c - oh, the many Gosney outs! - Jd

The Jd wasn't one of them, and Lawrence (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) Gosney (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=243) is OUT in 5th place, winning £5,679.

Dana's hopes of a deal 3handed get shot up instantly.

Hassan, "I'm not a fan of deals..."

Colin, "Let's just play it out..."

Gemma the valet is standing next to me when Hassan raises Colin's blind and whispers about the latter, "He's going to push here, you watch, his eyes really liked his cards..."

And I'm thinking, you can't just tell that straight away, I mean I've updated this countless tournaments and this one for over 12 hours and I can't predict that sort of stuff just by people's eyes...

Colin shoves, Hassan instantly folds.

Gemma is right and I clearly know absolutely bugger all.

Doc limps in on the small blind, not the first time he's done this, and Hassan raises in the big blind - not the first time he's done this either.

However, while Doc folded to a raise previously, this time he calls Hassan's all-in raise, and they're on their backs.

Doc: Aspades 2d
Hassan: well ahead with Ahrt Th

Board: 5d 5s 8c Ks 8d

Unbelievable. Split pot.

Oooh oooooh, but looky at this!

Doc raises it up to 130k from the button and Hassan passes. Big blind Colin Young, however, examines his cards, and announces, "I'm not passing this time. I'm all in." A nod from Doc and the chips go in.

Doc: Ks Jh
Young: Ahrt 6d

Board: Qs 3h 5s 6c Td

Thus Doc Dipak Makawana finishes in 3rd place, winning £10,790. Well done, that man.

We continue heads up in this entirely deal-free tournament, Colin Young with a 2:1 chip lead over Hassan Irfan.

Hassan Irfan sets him in from the big blind. Nagi sighs and calls.

Nagi: Ac 6h
Irfan: 5s 5d

7s 5c...("Yes!" shouts Irfan, "Fives, baby!!!")...4c

He's tempted fate with this flop though, but blanks on the 9s and Jh river means that Gurpreet (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) Nagi (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=2868) is OUT in 9th place winning £1,893. He played impressively well during the tournament, we'll probably see more of him. Irfan is close to chip leader with Doc, but there's still 6 other dwarves still in...

Cheers for the props, definitely appreciated!

Now that I have Mr Noflops approval, where's that staking board? ;)

Many thanks for the support from both the forum and those at the event.  It really does mean a lot to me.

I have to say that Chris and Dana did a fantastic job with the updates. Long may Live Updates continue.     ;tightend;

It was the first time that i've played this event, as its out of my normal buyin range.  What a great tournament. My only minor gripe with it is the 7pm start on a Saturday. With it selling out, surely an earlier start could mean an extra level or two on the Saturday evening. This would mean less people coming back on the Sunday, and therefore an earlier finish on the Sunday night/Monday morning.  Still, it was a magnificently run event.

I might post a report on here, as so much happened over the two days.

PS: Barry, sorry about that outdraw.  I made a lot of goods reads over the 2 days, but that wasn't one of them!
