Title: Stuart Rutter WSOP side event package, selling at 1.0
Post by: easypickings on June 07, 2019, 03:19:35 PM
Hi all

First of all sorry for the delay- little one Jack Rutter is getting on great, so I've delayed on the exact timing of my schedule, but have now decided to go for the last three weeks of the Series. I have already sold for the Main Event, but am selling at 1.0 for a package of all the mixed games.

I learnt all the mixed games with intense coaching in 2010, and have played them at the Series since then. I have always tried to top up the coaching and play, to try to be equally adept at all of the games. I hope that in the course of updating the different events, I can do some explaining as to how the different games work. This year I have actually been grinding PLO as my daily bread, so for the first time, will be including the $10k PLO event. I have also included a $5,250 satellite to the $50k Players' Championship.

At the moment, I'll limit to 10% per person. More available on request.

The schedule

21st June- $2,500 Mixed Omaha hi-lo/Stud hi-lo
22nd June- $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha
23rd June- $5,250 Satellite to the $50k Players' championship
24th June- $,1500 No limit holdem Super turbo bounty
25th June- $1,500 plus one re-entry Pot Limit Omaha hi-lo
26th June- $10,000 Razz
27th June- $1,500 plus one re-entry Omaha mix event
28th June- $10,000 Pot Limit Omaha hi-lo
30th June- $10,000 Stud hi-lo

July 1st- $1,000 Mini Main Event, OR
July 1st- $5,000 No Limit holdem six handed (I will "upgrade" to this event if we have previously cashed for $15k or more. Please note that the "upgrade" is not included in the package, and so if I play it, then $4k will be taken off the return price of the package )

July 2nd- $10,000 Limit holdem (I will play this event if we have previously cashed for $25k or more. Please note that it is not included in the package, and so if I play it, then $10k will be taken off the return price of the package

July 8th- $3,000 Limit holdem six-max
July 9th- $3,000 No limit holdem

Any missed event or re-entry will of course be refunded.

The total price of the package is $62,250. At the WSOP, it is basically a certainty that that some events and/or re-entries will be missed because of playing in previous events. So, I will call the price of the package $60,000

(In the very unlikely scenario that I have in fact played every event, I will skip the last event)

Selling at 1.0, the prices therefore are:

0.5%- $300
1%- $600
2%- $1,200
5%- $3,000
10%- $6,000

Payment by bank transfer (others on request) by the first event on Friday 21st June. I will lock and note the exchange rate on the day people send, for any monies back.

Here is my Hendon Mob profile: https://pokerdb.thehendonmob.com/player.php?n=54053

To Main Event buyers

When I sold for the Main, I was unsure whether I would play any side events. So, as a buyer, if you would rather spread or change to investment, it is absolutely fine to reduce or cancel your Main Event %.

Quick notes

1) There is a small chance I will be part of a team for the $1,500 tag-team event. This is not included in the package.
2) Please note, because of the possibility of upgrading from $1k to $5k holdem, playing the $10k limit, and "rounding down" the package price to $60k, the return price of the package may be less than the total cashes.

Well, here we go..

Thanks so much for the best wishes everyone. The first tournament on the schedule is today's $2,500 mixed event; Omaha Hi-Lo and Stud Hi-Lo.

Definitely one of the more bizarre sounding ones on the schedule, but a great event.

Starts at 3pm (UK 11pm)

Nasty one.  I have  Ad 7d 3s 2s in the big blind. It comes two bets to me (raise from cutoff, 3bet from button)

It's slightly questionable anyway, but made slightly more by the fact there is an accidental fold out of turn of Ks 8c 7d 5h. Not too substantial but bad news for my hand.

I call. Flop is   Ahrt Qd 4h. Nice for low draw and gutshot; top pair is no good.A bet, a call, and I call.

Turn is Ahrt Qd 4h 2c. Awful turn. Live 3 low draw is no good. Two pair is not going to be good. Bet and a call before me. Being mediocre now in both directions is bad news. Fold.

A rare opportunity to bluff with ten high.

Folded to my button. I raise the budious  Td 9h 3d 2s. Big blind calls.

Flop  Ad 4c Kh. Nut low draw, fine. Bet, call.

Turn Ad 4c Kh Qd. For high, gutshot and a flush draw, but now comes the realisation that I'm going to have to bluff two streets.

The river does in fact come the real blank.

Ad 4c Kh Qd Ac. Ten high it remains.

He checks, I bet, and he does fold, but with a hesitation, and it's quite interesting what the hesitation exactly is.

16,500

I love this game

Get it in Vs Turner's  Aspades KS Qs 5c 4d Ac 9c with

(4c 4d) 6s 8c Qh 7c (I am behind and need to outdraw a pair of aces. Many outs but I need them)

The great thing about stud hilo is that you turn over your own fate.

Ah well. That was alot of fun. Never not disappointing to bust, but happy to get off to a start. Min cashing at the start always feels worth more than the relatively small dollar amount.

So, final hand was slightly bizarre. Stud hilo is a game very friendly to short stacks. With 10k in the pot to start, the odds are always more than generous enough to get it in.

The hand I got it in with for 7k was actually (4h 5c) 6s.  A good spot , dampened only by two dead 8s. It went four way

I hit the anticlimactic (4h 5c) 6s Qs 9c, and looked hapless.

Through a chain of events that I have to be honest and say I didn't quite understand, I managed to get heads up on 5th Street against ace high. How and why he got the other players out of the pot I'm not quite sure.

He had ( Ac 3d) 8d Ts 7c, and so I had a real opportunity to more than quintuple up by hitting just one pair

Sadly I couldn't manage that. Ace high remained ace high but as enough to send me out.

Cash was $3,882.

LoJack raises to 1,800. I call  Qh Qd Th 8d on the button. Big blind comes along.

Flop is  Aspades Ac Kd. Not the best for Queens. Checked round.

Sorry, I have woken up to find that I left the last update of the day unsent!

Made it through. Finished with 37,200. New table has Seidel and Benyamine. Restart.

I don't think I have any regrets about yesterday, although I did inadvertently build a very tight image, and then never actually used it. But it was an incredibly card dead, situation dead day. Anyway, good structure, coming back to 1k-2k, let's go.

Seidel limps UTG, Benyamine limps UTG1. Short stack has 13k, is on tilt, and minraises to 4k.

I have  Aspades Ks Jc Td in the big, and raise the pot. Seidel and Benyamine fold, he calls and has

 Ahrt 9d 8c 6h

Obviously never a big favourite in PLO but a decent apot

Board comes Qd 8h 5c 6h 7s.

Down to 12,200. I raise Ah Kh Qd 9d to 7k from cutoff (pot sized raise, effective all in)

Benyamine calls button. Good news as the small blind pots it. But we don't lose Benyamine. Small blind likely has AA.

But a nice flop of Kc 5h 2h. Small blind bets (bad news), Benyamine folds (good news).

Small blind has Ad Ac 7d 7h. So I'll actually be a small favourite with 2 outs to trips, 6 outs to two pairs, and 8 more flush outs.

Sadly I miss it all. Board runs out Kc 5h 2h 7d 4c

That's a shame. Don't think there's any regrets, l actually managed to not hit a single hand for 11 hours

$5,250 satellite to the 50k

This was the one uncertainty on the schedule, as I couldn't actually find confirmation of what the buy in or schedule was.

It turns out the buy in was $5,300, bit sadly it cancelled! They're having a bad year; 20 minute delay on day two of the PLO, and mow all satellites are cancelled, because there is not enough space.

So, $5,250 is effectively a cash, a cancelled amount on the
Package. Let's treat is as a win!

Not exactly sure what has happened at the Rio today. I met a disgruntled old lady in the Uber wait, who told me that "all events are canceled." Not sure that that is true, but o think they've just had overhelming numbers for the Holdem today? She recommended every other Casino in town to me in her anger, and then bizarrely invited me onto her tag team. I should hhave accepted

Blinds are 500-1k, I have  Ahrt Aspades on the button and the cutoff raises to 2,500. I have 13,500, and a big decision.

I call, and we go four handed with the blinds.

Flop is the wonderfully uneventful 9h 3d 4c.

He moves all in, I call, they both get out of the way

I now assume I have Just wasted everyone's time and am getting it in against the overpair to nines that I should have got it on against pre-flop.

The legend shows Js 2c (guess the pre-flop decision was right).

He gets the 9h 3d 2c 6h turn that he  he deserves. Thankfully she doesn't get the river.

WSOP queue update

They have been very brave to put on what must be the biggest 3pm field on the same day as a massive field super Holdem event.

Main queue- Ridiculous
Diamond queue- Slightly less ridiculous
Payout queue- I thought I could use the trick of cashing in the previous cashout ticket, to get into a smaller queue. It did work, but not spectacularly, even this one is long.

Will be in soon!

Cheers Knotikay.

David Levy limps HJ. He has played 70% of hands. Small blind checks (it's 100-100), and in the big I have

Kd Kh Jd Th. I think it's close. Obviously a strong PLO high hand is never a very strong hand in PLO8, but given I won't match up badly against Levy and I can probably get the SB out, I do raise the 300.

Flop is 9s 9c 6s. Nice (his low draws are now only backdoor, and a 9 is the blankest card in the game)

I bet 600 into 700. Levy calls .

Turn is 9s 9c 6s 3c. I bet the full 1,900. He calls.

At this point, it feels he basically must have spades. The only ways he doesn't is 1) he has a six, low draw and probably clubs, or 2) He is slowplaying a 9 or house. But he pretty much has spades.

So the river is not good. It is 9s 9c 6s 3c Qs.

I check, he checks. That seems good news. But he does indeed have spades. He has Ks 5s Qc Th.

It's definitely "interesting" from him. To be honest, every step is, but definitely the river check. I can of course have the nut flush, but I don't think it would be standard to check it. And I'm very unlikely to have a house. If you do indeed have to check a flush behind if you make it, it can't be right to call a pot sized bet on the turn.

25k starting chips is a great amount. 22k

Levy raises the cutoff, I have  Ahrt Kd Jh 2d in the big, and raise the pot to 1,900. He calls

Flop is 7s 3d 2c (A mess; low counterfeited, a pair of twos. And worse, given I will have A2 alot to three bet, then it looks bad for my range)

I definitely consider bluffing. He should have A2 and A3 some amount of the time. The argument for bluffing is that it would be best with a small bet to make him fold his counterfeited hands, and so I get good price on the bluff. The other arguement is that if I check, I give him the easiest invitation ever to take the pot.

I think it's just about a check though. I check, he bets pot, I fold

19k at first break.

(From the previous table)

I raise the lovely  Aspades Jc 3d 2c to 1,000 UTG. Just the small blind calls. He has played very tight; hasn't made any mistakes.

Flop is the lovely 3s 4s 5s. (Wheel; nut low and a straight)

It's actually the worst wheel to make- it's the least disguised board, and I am supposed to have A2 alot. And of course the monotone board gives him more chance to beat me for high.

So the question is how to go getting two streets of value against the hands that I beat both ways. Three streets of value seems very unlikely- it would have to be against a set and low, which both misses and cry-calls the river.

And if it's two streets of value that I'm going for, then I think it's right to check the flop. When I check the flop and bet the turn, it should be obvious that I'm more likely to have it, but I'm not sure it will be. This is a game where in most pots, you are thinking about protecting your hand on dynamic boards- people are not in the mode of thinking about value lines on static boards.

Anyway, he quickly folded the turn, but kind of interesting decision.

22k now

Out. Big one, close one. I have Qs Qc Js Th. Two limps at 500bb, I limp. Guy in HJ raises pot to 3,300. They both call.

It's close. The re-entry option (whilst it is a mistake to use it as an excuse to make clear minus-EV calls) is a factor. I think even without it, I'm just about right to call. In an equity calculator, giving the raiser AA and the other two hand on the 20%ile, then I have 23.5% equity. And of course it's better as I get the clearest decisions, given I'm polarised to very good flops and very bad flops.

It is a very good flop. Ts 9s 5c

(8 outs to straight, queen high flush draw, open ended straight flush draw. And pair of tens for two trip outs)

So the only  bad spot is if I run into a better current hand, AND one of the two higher flush draws (albeit there is less of a factor that I block other flush draws, as the most likely spade combos are  Aspades 2s and Aspades 3s). Although, slightly surpsingly, my hand against AA with spades  is actually as good as 45%.

I bet the pot (14k) from my 22k. I get it in against the raiser. He does indeed have the AA with spades. He has Aspades Ac 5s 8h.

Turn is not good. Ts 9s 5c 7s. I do not river a straight flush.

Have re-entered, new table looks strong with Jon Turner, Rob Campbell and Soulier

Another nasty all in.

Folded to our blinds, small has 11k and raises to 1,300. I have  Ahrt Kh 6c 2s .

You're never an at all substantial favourite in this game, but I think it's right to push my edge.

We get it in. He has Ac Jc 5s 3d.(Despite what looks like alot of dominance, I'm only about 55%)

Flop is 4h 7h 8c

(beautiful; nut low, nut flush draw. AK high is actually currently good)

Turn is 4h 7h 8c Jd. (Not good. He takes the lead for high. I need a king or heart for high. But I'm very safe for low; only one of two aces, or one of 3 deuces counterfeits me)

River is the classic PLO8 beat. I  get counterfeited by  4h 7h 8c Jc 2d.

Ouch. 14k

Out. Lost 4/4 all ins today.

Pads opens hijack to 2k, I defend 2s 3s 5c 7h.

Flop is 5c 7d Td (bottom two pair,  third nut low draw)

I check, he bets 1,800 into 4,400. I have 12k. It's close. My low draw makes my hand look better than it is, because it's unlikely to be good if we do get it in.

I think I have to go with it though. I pick up the 6,200 for free top often for it not to be right.

I pot, he calls, and has Ad Jc Jd 2h. (Pair of Jacks, nut low draw, nut flush draw)

Him having diamonds is ugly. But I'll now have about 40% equity still.

Turn is 5c 7d Td 6c. (He makes low. He needs a T,6, J or diamond to scoop. I need an ace to scoop)

He gets there for the scoop with a river of 5c 7d Td 6c 6s

Cheers guys. Interesting spot on 6th

I have (34)6262 against (xx)87KK

(Classic razz spot. He leads the action because he has the "lead" with a pair of kings against my two pair)

He bets his lead, which momentarily confuses because he must be sure I have the better draw, and I could swear that a 6 draw is a favourite to a made king and inferior draw. I raise.

The funny thing that, logically, his difference of opinion about who is favourite in this spot should mean that he raises back, and that we continue to do so. But he does just call.

Interesting. Twice today the action has been on me on the river, I have made some kind of movement to bet, and, long before putting chips into the pot, the opponent has reached for their call. The first time, I was going to make a very thin, questionable value bet. The second, I was actually going to bluff. So both times, I changed my decision to a check.

I presume each time it wasn't a "live trick" of them pretending they were going to call when they weren't. It also felt absolutely fine for me to take the opportunity to change my decision

Level 5, I have 50k

This is a great tourney today. All Omaha Hi-Lo variants, the mix is; 4 card pot limit, 5 card pot limit, 4 card limit.

Decent start, 14k, start of level 2. (Starting stack 10k)

I had a very good limit round- Qc Jc 8c 4s, was just about enough to complete the SB after two limps, hit a nice flop of

Ac 3c Tc (second nut flush, needs to fade one more low card),
and an even nicer run out of

Ac 3c Tc Ks Jd

And I collected a total of four big bets

Title: Re: Stuart Rutter WSOP side event package, selling at 1.0

$1,500 mixed Omaha Hi-Lo

Four card pot limit

Interesting one. I have in the small blind the beautiful

Ad Ac 6d 2c

There is one limp, and I raise to 400. Just the limper calls.

Flop is 3h 6h 9c

(goodish. Nut low draw. But lots of high draws of which I have none).

I bet 700 into 900, he calls.

Turn is 3h 6h 9c 5d.

(nut low made, aces may just about be good).

So now, we come to the question of what the purpose of my turn and river bets would be. They mostly include:

1) To get value over two streets, from A2 with a worse high, or maybe a hand like A456 (currently beating me for high, but some outs for me to beat it)

Or

2) To try to make him fold a better high, or a hand with outs to a better high

We come back to the A456. If he did have that, and we bet the turn, obviously we take high EV to the river if he calls, but also benefit more if he folds the turn

There are  then alot of hands like A457 (worse low and high, but straight, two pair and trips draws), or A4 with hearts. Against these hands, we are winning for high, but if we bet, then it's a good outcome whether they call or fold.

I decide that the way I win a big pot here is if I find him with A2 and a worse high, and he gets stubborn, and quartered. It's tough to see him calling two streets with a worse high and worse low.

So I bet 1,800 into 2,100. He thinks, but folds

Back to the general theory of this game:

This game is alot about deciding- what is the purpose of a bet? The only time it becomes at all simple is if you have a good hand on the river. Then you get down to a bet either being

1) To make him fold a better hand in the other direction, when you have a strong one-way hand, or

2) If you do have strength both ways, to make him call with a worse hand in both directions

The easy guidelines stop there, but it's important to at least have in mind on the river what the intended purpose of a bet is

Five card pot limit

Five way to my big blind, I have

Ad Kc 9c 7s 6h

(A poor hand. Almost no low value, limited high value)

The flop is Ac Kd 8c

(A rare good flop. Top two, and nut flush draw)

Basically now I'm betting to charge low draws. I bet 300 into 500. One call.

Turn is Ac Kd 8c 4d

(Not good, low gets there)

My mission now is basically to try to make a non-nut low like 25 or 35 fold. I bet 1,100 into 1,100. He calls

River is Ac Kd 8c 4d 5s

(I get there for high in the unlikely way, the nut straight).

Do I have any chance of being called and winning in both directions? Probably not, he would have to have something very specific like 443x, for a set of fours and a one card low.

So I decide to make the purpose of a bet specifically to try to get a 26 or 36 to fold. I bet pot, but no good. He has the nut low, and I split against AQJ32

Four card limit

HJ limps, I have  Ahrt  Aspades Qc 7h, and raise. Big blind and HJ come along.

Flop is 2c 6c 6d (not great, low draw is unlikely to be good)

Big blind leads, HJ folds.

It could be a fold. He'll have a 6 alot- on the basis that he surely either has that or A3. He will, for instance, never play KK like this.

I call, on the basis that if he checks a high card turn, I can put him on likely A3.

Turn is 2c 6c 6d 4h. ( I make 4th nut low). He bets

The 4 is not bad, as it counterfeits some of the lows he could have along with his six, and puts me into the lead for low . A straight should be unlikely; it would have to be an A35 combo or 356 combo.

So I'm making the decision at this point on whether I call down to hope to get half- that being either with AA against his A3 nut low, or with my A7 low against a 6.

I do decide to call down, river is a blank king (we need to avoid a 3 or 5 which would make our low likely not good), and he does indeed have just the high, with

2s 6s Th 9c

Four card pot limit

Button raises to 600, I call with

 Aspades Jc 4s 4c

Flop is Qc 9s 8s (no low js confirmed, I have nut lush draw)

This game is almost more interesting on high-only boards.

I bet 600 into 1,300 to set some stuff up. He calls.

Turn is Qc 9s 8s Td (I pick up three outs to the nut straight)

I bet 1,500 into 2,500, he calls.

River is Qc 9s 8s Td Qs (nut flush)

The paired queen is not so threatening. His only houses or better should be QT or TT, given that he didn't raise the flop.

I actually feel that his turn call was more likely with a pair of tens plus flush draw, than it was with a straight and flopped pair.

So I go fairly high; 3,500 into 5,500.

He calls, and I think says he has a flush.

Four card limit

Limits 500-1000

Puke

HJ opens, I three bet button with Aspades Qs 6d 2c.

One factor at this point is that he has seen me play very tight, as he has been at the table only in in the last two hours, where I have been card dead.

Flop is Kd Kc 6d  (Pair of sixes) At this point I plan to bluff two streets, if the turn is a high card.

Turn is Ks Kd 6d Jc. (Pair of sixes) He checks, I bet, he raises.

There is big suspicion in my mind from this point. He looks potentially nervous, and I feel he would probably have raised the flop with a king.

River is Ks Kd 6d Jc 2h.

He bets. I feel there's alot of factors that make it suspicious. They are

1) I have a very tight image, specifically to him after his late arrival, to see me seem to play very tight. This both gives me aces alot iny mind, which he may try to take me off, and suggests to him that I may fold against a bluff

2) He bet the river almost too quickly

3) He not always, but often, check raises the flop with a king

4) He looked Slightly nervous

I do call. He  says "aces are good." He was bluffing. But he was bluffing with the better hand. He has A883.

Ouch it's painful, to find someone bluffing with the better hand. There is a case to say that I should just raise, if I feel he is bluffing, to make sure. But given I have a six, the range of hands that he thinks he is bluffing with, but do still beat me, is very narrow.

( I think it's pretty bad for him to bluff with his hand, by the way. It's  too tough to take someone off aces for two bets in a pot that is made bigger by the pre-flop three bet. And it's not a great rep, given he didn't check raise flop)

Four card pot limit

Nice one

I have Ac Qs 3c 2d on the button, UTG limps, and I raise pot to 1,400

Flop is Kc Tc 9c (nut flush)

She bets the pot, 3,300.

Beautiful. But big decision. The hand I may need to raise against is not a set ("protection" here is nonsense, we get the money in on the turn anwyay). The hand I may need to raise against is a low flush- that hand may just get scared off by a turn board pair.

She may of course be bluffing, or somehow light. I decide to call.

I'm thinking "please don't pair the board"before the turn. And it doesn't. Kc Tc 9c 2s.

I have just less than pot, and the good news continues as she says "pot." She has Ahrt 3d 3c 2c for a low flush. It's nice to get it in with them drawing dead in this game.

It's interesting what she should do with the flush. On the turn, as played, I think it's right to bet, as it's so tough to check-fold anyway, and I may well have a set or two pair. But I think it's betting the flop (and definitely betting pot) that doesn't carry enough value, to make up for the inability to escape from being committed

I have  Aspades Qs Js 2c in the small blind at 300-600

Lady raises to 1,500 from 10k. I think alot about putting her in. I just call. Nice English guy in the big blind (who I think Tikay called Nick?) calls.

Flop is Qc Tc Ts. I'm probably going to get it in, but the one thing happens that means I dont.

English guy leads, lady moves all in. I fold

She has AA32, English guy has Kc Qh Jc 7d.

Lost the min I guess

Four card limit

English guy raises UTG, Donev calls SB, I call BB with

Ks Qs Qc 9h

Flop is Kc 9c 3h. I bet, both call. Great news.

Turn is Kc 9c 3h 3d. Donev leads. This is bad news. I just about call.

River is Kc 9c 3h 3d Ts. Donev checks. That's great news. There's no need for me to bet though.

I call, to reduce variance.

Flop is Ts Tc 2h. That's beautiful for Aces with a poor-ish low.

I check raise, he three bets. Ouch. At this point I think he very often has the other two aces. Standard call anwyay, especially with second nut backdoor low.

Turn is Ts Tc 2h 5h. Nice. I check call.

River is Ts Tc 2h 5h 5c. Bad card. I check, he bets. It's now a terrible spot, but it's just about a call at 9-1.

Then we see the AT73. Ouch

Turn is Js Th 3c Ks. That's not a good turn. I check.

He bets, and bets again on the river of

Js Th 3c Ks 6c

It's not good. I don't think he bets KQxx turn and river. There is a chance he is trying to get me off the aces that it looks like I have. It's 7-1. I think he's good enough to try to take me off aces, and do so with the hands including a T,6 or 3, thus giving him more bluffs.

Knocked out Lisandro. 78k pot

His Aspades Ahrt Kc 9c 7h Vs

My Ac Kd Kd 7d 2c

He's a very small favourite. It's not as bad as it looks for me- given he has my pair beaten, my king blocked, and my clubs blocked.

It comes

9c 9s Tc 3c (we need to avoid a 9 or the one ace)

8h

Nice. 135k

Small drama

Limit 4card, I re-raise the flop. Danov snap says "raise and bet turn dark."

Never boring.

I feel I have to call the floor, to establish whether, if I now re-raise, his dark bet is binding.

Would you guess it is, or isn't?

Anwyay, I lost a mid-size one

Doubled up through Donev

66k now

Blind on blind, I have  Qc Ts 7c 5h Vs his

Ahrt Ks 8h 3d, on

Tc 8s 3c (my pair plus flush draw plus only low draw Vs his two pair)

Think my equity is about 65%

It comes Jack Jack to counterfeit him

The beautiful little one at home is called Jack. I'm going to decide to be ridiculous and decide to treat the Jack on the river as a massive omen.

Masisve hand. I have A732, board ends up

I slowplay it to the max, in position. Was in alot of doubt whether that was right or not. Think it worked out.

Checked flop behind, called his small 15k lead river, moved in for 90% pot river. I think I may have picked up a very suspicious call.

Although of course the alternative is that his confused looking tank was because he thought I may have given a big warning flag of a big hand.

Bookeeping so far

We cashed for $3,885 in $2,500 Stud/Omaha hilo
We missed the $5,250 PPC satellite
We didn't use a $1,500 re-entry in the  $1,500 Omaha mix

By making it through, we have missed the $10,000 Pot limit Omaha hilo. If it's OK, I will instead play the $10,000 limit holdem on Wednesday 3rd July, which was not originally on the definite schedule. Do of course opt out if you like. I'll send a message to everyone

I played one, and then one more.

First time I had a great hand on poor board; second hand, I made a poor hand relative to a great board.

First hand we split. I make the unlikely full house of

(Ks Kc) Tc Ts 6d 8d (Kh), but get half against

(864) 722x

The second hand is interesting. He has an obvious low hand. I go to the river showing the very threatening

(xx) Qh Jh 9h 8h,

against what must be a low hand of (xx)8644, but actually have the minimum for my hand

(Qs 6d) Qh Jh 9h 8h.

It's important to not think about the times that he is low, as obviously the split pots don't matter. In stud8, you must ignore the bulk of likely but irrelevant standard spots, and only take into account the few relevant ones- So what is important here are specifically the times that he makes two low pair, and I don't improve on my one pair. Then I must bluff, and it's really tough for him to call with his two pair.

I actually made the two pair myself, with

(Qs 6d) Qh Jh 9h 8h (6c),

and he did indeed tank-fold. And I think the tank fold can only be exactly that hand, two low pair

There's only been one massive pot, and sadly it included me folding the river.

Went three way to sixth. Mercier had an obvious trips with (xx)KJTQ, putting in the action despite seat one's (xx)A23T and my board of (xx)4567

My actual hand was (2h 6c) 4h 5c 6h 7s (made 7 low). I had to call down to try to make my hand. A straight would be likely good if it faded Mercier's house draw (his current hand must be trip jacks, rather than than a straight)

I actually caught an irrelevant trip sixes, (2h 6c) 4h 5c 6h 7s (6d). Despite looking good, there was 0.0% chance it was good for high. I had to make absolutely sure that my low wasn't good, given that there was 36k in the pot. I folded,  and he did indeed have

(75)A23TJ, to have me just pipped.

Mercier housed up with (JJ)KJQT(K)

Down to 42k

Lovely disguised hand, picked up a fold on 6th. My board shows

(xx) 2c 3h 4s 6d, which looks very much like I probably have low, and maybe more, obviously.

In fact, my hand is (Ks Kc) 2c 3h 4s 6d.

He shows (xx) Aspades Ad Js Tc, and actually folds it on sixth.

It's important for me to bet, though completely standard. Just a lucky situation

Picked up an unexpected fold from two opponents on 5th.

I have (2s 3c) Aspades. A five completes first to speak. I should maybe raise, but a call obviously gives more chance of a multi way pot that suits me.

An (xx)A comes along

4th is an anticlimactic (2s 3c) Aspades 9h. A bet from (xx)AK, a call from (xx)58 (I think he should raise if unpaired), I just about call.

On 5th they make (xx)AKJ and (xx)585. (Trip fives is very unlikely here, he wouldn't complete split gives UTG)

I make (2s 3c) Aspades 9h Ah for a pair of aces.

I bet, and suprisingly they both folded

No good, 25k

I start ( 2h 3c) 6d. There are two limps, a short stack (xx)7 completes to 2k. I two-bet to 4k. We lose one limper. Short stack all in for 5,300. I decide to just call.

I miss it, and on 5th am (2h 3c) 6d Ks Qh. I get a free card from (xx)92 on 4th, and he bets (xx)922 on 5th.

Despite two bricks, I just about have to call 5th. The short stack has bricked with (xx)7TJ, and the unseen deck is ripe withs low cards.

I now catch a pair. (2h 3c) 6d Ks Qh Qc, and (xx)922T bets. He almost always has nines up. I have to call. 14 outs and none of them are dead

I miss it though, with a Ts, and nines up does indeed take it.

Turn I brick (2h 3c) 7s Jd, he makes (xx) Aspades 6c. I have to call given the bloated pot.

5th another brick, (2h 3c) 7s Jd Kd, and the ace he catches is way surplus to requirements.

OUT. Which is a big shame.

I actually got caught light two hands in a row, one off the bring-in. Both are sadly standard

First hand I complete to 2,500 with (7h 3d) Kd. Bring in two-bets, I think it's right to fold.

Second hand I have (3s 5s) Kd, and 6,700. It's effectively an all-in, and I think is right with 4,700 dead in the pot.

We get it in on 3rd, and I run into (Ac 2c) 5d. I make very little with

(3s 5s) Kd 5d Qs Jc (2d) and it's a long way behind

(Ac 2c) 5d 2s 6d 6h (3c)

Gutting tournament to bust.

Tomorrow is the $1k mini main event. Not entirely sure yet what that means for the structure!

Ah, so the Main Event part of the "Mini Main Event" is the 60k starting stack.

And the Mini part of "Mini Main event" is the 30 minute levels

I think that comes out of the wash as a turbo?

There's alot of limping, this is looking promising.

One of note so far. I raise HJ with 7c 5c to 600 at 100-200(200BBA), button calls, small blind calls.

Flop is 7d 4d 3c. SB checks, I bet 1,100 into 2,100. Just the SB calls

The small blind has been talking about the previous pot, cursing himself for not folding the river, when he "knew he was beat." I think it's right for me to turn my hand into a potential bluff turn and river on a lot of run-outs anyway, but this seals it.  The big thing is of course that I think we can trust most players (and definitely him) to check-raise the sets and straight on the flop.

Turn is 7d 4d 3c Kh.

The good thing about a turn bet is that i have the merge of claiming my EV against flush draws, potentially folding out better 7s, but also maybe a hand like 54 getting stubborn. Basically it's just a situation where a bet carries power.

I bet 2,500 into 4,300. He calls after about thirty seconds.

It's interesting exactly what cards I should bet when checked to on the river (I think most, if not all of them), but in fact, I never get to decide. It's a diamond, and he bets.

River is 7d 4d 3c Kh 9d

He bets 6,600, and I'm not thinking about calling.

52k level four.

New table.

I raise CO to 1,200 at 200-400 (400) with Jh 9h

Board by the river is Js Ts Tc 3d 4h. I have checked thrice, and called bets of 1,100 and 4,500.

He now bets 15,200 into 15,600

Its always interesting when you have a big "does he have it or not?" decision shortly after joining a table. You have nothing but the usual judgements to go on- if we're honest you do make judgements on age, how they look, and the rest of it. With this guy, that could still however, put him in a few different categories. They might very roughly be:

1) Excited to be at the WSOP, qualified at a local satellite- I probably shouldn't have got to the river in order to make this fold.

2) Bit mad-  The most likely spot to call. Most likely to be betting bit simply because he missed one of the many draws available.

3) A good pro- obviously will take into account that I'm probably capped with three checks. But will also know
how many missed draws his range has. if he is a pro, the large size of the bet possibly veers it a bit towards a fold.

I folded. I think the small flop bet size and large river bet size, turns it more into a fold, whichever category we are putting him in to.

Since then he has made a couple of three bets, and is now getting a massage. Possibly both bad bits of  news for my decision. Just interesting that even the massage (in fact, definitely the massage) is information that should be factored in to poker decisions.

At 300-600(600), I have 33k. Elderly British guy raises to 1,800 UTG. Chinese guy calls on button.

I have  Aspades Kh in the small blind.

It may well be a three bet, but if it is a three-bet, it's most definitely a three-bet fold. Three-bet folding is definitely fine in principle. Situations are exploitable and exploitative, and because it means I've run into the very top of the deck, obviously it's only going to happen rarely.

It's such a nice table, that I call to keep the variance down. Big blind (massage guy) comes along.

It comes Kc Tc 6c.

Interestingly, with the action on me, massage guy now checks.

I bet 3,000 into 7,800.

Massage guy now calls. Not a big piece of information that his calling hand wasn't a leading hand (when he thought the action was on him), but potentially gives him more flushes.

Button also calls. I have 24k into 16,800 on the turn

Turn is Kc Tc 6c 8h. I think it's just about a check-fold. I hang myself against the massage guy flush traps often enough. I have a king blocked, and they can't both have the ace of clubs. If I do have the best hand, it actually probably gets checked round alot at least.

Massage guy bets 9,500, and we both fold

32k now

$5,250 satellite to the PPC not played

57,600 from 60k starting stack

Not much interesting in terms of hands, but some interesting proceedings.

We had two unclaimed stacks for a while, and played four handed, with Wasserson giving some encouragement for everyone to play quickly.

Then one of the stacks showed up. He showed a South Korean passport. I think it may be the guy who won the Colossus, but that may be wrong.

The limits started quite simple- 500-1000. He played the first hand- with a raise to 1,300. The dealer pushed the 300 back. At this point it's looking very liekly that we've got an unfortunate man who read a "no" before the "limit" on the schedule. He looked a little confused but played on.

He must have liked the flop. The bet option is 500. He bet 1,700. Now he looked more confused.

The dealer explained that it's limit, and I think he has now taken in that it might be a slightly different day to the one he expected.

I have Ts 7c and limp the small. Wasserson checks the big. (he'll never have K-high, probably rarely Q-high)

Flop Ks Jc 9h.

Case for betting is just to clear out his 4/5/6/7 high. Case Against it is that he may choose to do something different with them.

It's fairly reasonable to check-call, effectively to pick up a bluff when ten high is good, and take my double gutter.

Turn is Ks Jc 9h Js. We both check

River is Ks Jc 9h Js 4s. I check, he bets....

Clearly my hand is a bluff catcher, so what are my chances of catching?

His value

He definitely bets a 9. I think he bets a 4. He really should never have king high, given the pre-flop check. A jack? There would be a case for checking the turn to get one street, but I don't really see it. So actually, his value range is fairly narrow.

His bluffs

The problem is that it just doesn't look like a bluff line. If he has air, the turn looks a good spot for him to pick it up often enough. I am reasonably well protected by the fact that I can still be trapping a Jack. He'll think that I have a 9 a fair bit, and am going to be calling it

I think it's just about a fold, but it's a good bluff if he has made it

There is a case for raising, to then bluff if I miss the river- obviously that is mainly based on my equity. But it's tough to  see him having many hands that choose this board to bluff, or to be willing to fold something like a 6 to one bet on the river, given that he will call the turn. It's been a fairly steady table (apart from Arieh who is splashing a bit). He has (TT+, AK) I think for sure, given I raised UTG2.

He may still have aces. Some say to never cap aces.

Flop is 8h 6d 5s.  That's great. Given the almost definite read on his range, this is no threat.

He check-calls on this flop and on the turn of

8h 6d 5s Jd

Jack of course not the best card. But the non-raise is great news.  And of course he has Queens twice as often as jacks, once we see a Jack.

River is 8h 6d 5s Jd 5c. He check folds. I think he may have made a good fold of Queens

Nice, I always play a silly one Vs Eli. For the first time, this year, I won one.

Blind on blind, I limp 5s 3s, he checks

I flop an open-ender on 9c 6s 4h. I bet, he calls

Turn is 9c 6s 4h Jc. I bet, he raises.

Hmm, it seems a bit convenient. If he has some one pair of nines for that line, he's more padded out. If not, then, I'm not having it.

I three bet, he calls. If I do end up with 5-high, I bet every river card.

I instead end up with a pair of threes.

9c 6s 4h Jc 3h.

No need to bet. I check, he checks.

We have a bit of a stall on who's going to show, and I realise I may be good, and I am.

I think the turn three-bet may have swung it, as otherwise I'm checking the river and he's betting :)

Nice, 118k. Got stubborn

Raise 7s 7c UTG2 nine handed. UTG3 three bets.

Board to turn is 3d 8c Ts Kd

(Nice flop, bad turn)

Standard check call on the flop,  decision on the turn. I can only really beat AQ and AJ, and still have to fade their ten outs.

He actually bet too quickly- that throws a small doubt onto his 99, JJ and QQ, and swung it for me. We checked a river of

3d 8c Ts Kd 2h, and sevens were good

Flop 5c 2c 2h (guthsot, BDFD)

I have some chance of barreling. I bet, button folds, small blind calls.

Turn 5c 2c 2h 9h (flush draw)

He check calls

River 5c 2c 2h 9h 6d

He checks. I think I can get him off some ace highs. I bet

He raises

Now there is some small chance I may be good. I won't go into detail now, as need to focus, but I may find something like KQ

OUT

Sigh. I ran into a brick wall in that last hour of cold 4bets in a tournament where there had been very few cold four bets, and it continued into the bust out hand.

Monnette raises HJ, I 3bet button with Ac Ts. Small blind cold fours. (Really bad news). Monnette calls, I call.

I have 13k in a pot of 78k

Flop is Qs 8s 3c.

Small blind bets, Monnette folds.

It's going to be a nasty likely way to go but I have to call it off. I am calling 13k to win 104k, and, with two backdoors, will have better than the 7-1 which that requires.

(Equity calculator gives me 25% Vs top 10% hands, and 18% Vs AK with no Spade)

I call, he has Ahrt Kh, we pick up hope on Qs 8s 3c 7s, but brick on

Qs 8s 3c 7s 3d.

Sigh. We now have the two potential 3ks left if I don't make day 3/4 of the Main respectively.

Gutted about today. Sorry the package has gone badly, I've found a brick wall at one point of each 10k.

Do send bank details if you would like payment up to this point.

Raise KC JC UTG to 1,700, rec defends  the big blind.

Flop  Aspades Qc 3d. He checks , I bet 1,700. He semi snap calls.

Turn Aspades Qc 3d 8h. He checks, I bet 3,900. He calls fairly quickly but....

It's strange. He's a rec but he hasn't done anything too
stubborn. But now something new happens . He shrugs in frustration, and semi-snap calls. I'm 99% sure the shrug is not an act. He basically has a weak ace. Given the new behaviour, I think it must mean he's getting tired.

River is Aspades  Qc 3d 8h 2h.

Ah this is a decision. We obviously have on one hand that he has basically telegraphed that he went to the river with one pair of aces. And the other hand is his frustration. I nearly fire. Maybe I should. I think ultimately, whether this is tiredness or frustration, maybe the chips go in. We're going to end up in that classic spot where he "knows he is beat," but may well throw the chips in

Hmm I still don't know. Maybe a mistake.

Bagging up 35,200 now. Anticlimactic day. Really happy to be there

So we're in the 3k limit six max. This was the event that Max Silver won last year.

The days break after the Main- well, after my days work of two hands :(  - was good, but very excited for these last two events now.

We've actually started four handed. 20k starting stack, I've got 18,800

Now five handed. 20,100 from 20k

Just two main ones.

Four handed, CO raises at 100-200, I three bet Th Tc.

Flop is a wonderful Qh Td 7h. Bet, he calls.

Turn is Qh Td 7h Jh. (Full house and probable flush draw if I
need it)

I bet. He raises. This is the decision of the hand...

For a raise

Clearly my equity is decent even if we give him the narrowest range possible to range possible of just straights and flushes.

I will also lose the chance to get the extra bet if I should lead (rather than check raise) a heart river, and I feel that is probably is indeed a lead.

For a call

Clearly if I do run into the straight or flush range, it costs me two bets when he raises.

It's a nice spot if the river is going to give me a house. Then I get to check raise- which wins my extra bet when I make a house Vs flush/straight, but saves me a bet when I check-call the non-paired/non-heart rivers.

Anyway, as you can tell, it's often only the detail of one decision of a limit Holdem hand that is interesting , and more important is just to hit

I call. And a check raise gets called on the lovely river of

Qh Td 7h Jh Jc

Hit a nice mini rush, 27k

Raise UTG five handed with 44. Flop a set on 94278 rainbow. He check raises the flop. I actually decide to flat it, and get a raise in on the river. It is reluctantly called.

Raise A9 UTG four handed. Blinds calls. Board is AQ2 hh 6x 8x. Small blind calls three streets.

116 in the field so far (my guess is therefore 180)

Got (very slightly) OOL for the first time.

Raise Jd 8d at 200-300 on the button. Big blind three bets. I think he is the limit Holdem specialist in a group of opponents who are NLHE players.

I decide to four bet. It has the small advantage of discouraging some future three bets. It only costs 300, and will gain enough times where I can pick up a turn fold by betting twice.

He had Kc Ks. What actually happened was quite strange. He just flatted (understandable) but decided to lead all three streets on

Js 6s 5s 7c 2d

A standard call down for me. But the interesting thing is that it would seem that he, by leading, attaching no weight to the fact that I may be four betting light with an intention to barrel

Won a couple of  small ones since. Up to 29k (starting 20k)

Second break, 59,500 (20k starting). Wow, a fairly ridiculously nice hour's heater. The highlights were:

Raise AJ UTG and get three streets on AJ8Q8

3bet KQ UTG1, BB cold calls and raises me on AJ4 bdfd. I call and get lucky on AJ4T, and then actually even river a flush too.

Bluff Grapes three streets on Q34 ddd 4x 9x. I have raised 87 CO, and suspect he has called the SB with enough Khigh with a diamond, to add in to the small chance he will fold Ahigh or a small PP on the river.

Table is now six handed. 152 entries (Revised guess, 190)

In the course of the hour where the deck hit me in the face, seat 2 (the limit holdem specialist) took basically the whole brunt of it.

He's taken it fairly well overall, but has complained about my luck on the last couple. I didn't quite catch it, but it was something like "obviously an ace can just never be good against this guy," on the AJ8Q8 hand.

He raised CO at 300-600, I three bet 6h 6c. He four bet, I called. It left him 3,100 (Big bet is 1,200).

He checks both flop and turn behind, and the river is

Ac Jh 5d Qd Tc.

It looks fairly good for a bluff, getting just over 4-1 on said bluff, because;

- Giving myself a three-bet range pre is now crucial. If gives me two Broadway cards almost all the times that I don't have a pocket pair.
- He bets most hands including a king, at least by the turn

But I think it's significant enough that we're now adding:

- He may start to believe in my luck. If he's a limit holdem specialist, clearly he won't actually hold the belief that luck has a memory, but I think it can become subconscious.

I bet, he gives another speech that I didn't quite catch, and folds 9h 9c face up

Raise KK UTG, BB defends. He check raises me on JT4, I call and bink JT4K2. He has TT

Raise QTss, button on Grapes'  Big blind. I threebet when he check raises on Ks9s6x. Bet the turn and bink the river of Ks9s6x7x8x

Three bet A9 from BB on Grapes' button raises, and get a fold on KQ86 turn

Watson opens, CO 3bets, I 4bet AA on button. Watson gives me three streets on QT4Q4

Up to 108,500. Took some of Jesus' chips with K6 on QT654 and KQ on K65Q ( he folded turn)

An interesting one before that.

All of this is standard....

I raise Qd Tc at 500-1000 on the cutoff. Small blind three bets. Big blind has 5,500 and cold-calls the three bet. I call

Flop is Td 5d 2s. SB bets, BB calls, I raise. SB three bets, big blind undercalls all-in.

Thats the end of the standard actions.

Turn is Td 5d 2s 4d. SB bets. At this point there is basically no doubt that the SB has AT or better. Obviously I have far more than the price to call the turn-. I have 14 outs alot, and 5 outs most of the rest of the time

I actually decide to use my equity to semi bluff, by raising the turn, with the plan to bluff the river. I am using the fact that there is a large dry side pot, which should make my action more honest. He's never going to fold the turn with AT/JJ+, but there is enough of a chance, albeit small, that he will fold the river.

I miss on Td 5d 2s 4d 8h. I now bluff, and he does call and has Ac Ts

Now this is definitely not a complaint against the third all-in player, and probably didn't affect the pot, but is a general thought. By the time the river is dealt, the all-in player has
put it beyond any doubt that he knows he is out. He has basically stood up and is shaking his head  The reason that it's not a complaint at all is that so many people do it without thinking, even if they make it slightly less obvious

The problem is it definitely could affect the pot.

On one hand, if the other player and I both had weaker hands, but with showdown value, then it could let down my bluff, as the bluff loses a bit of its power when my opponent knows that the third player can't win. On the other hand, there could be an instance like the seating position meaning only I see, and therefore that I gain more information to bluff. Basically, a few different things happen that shouldnt.

The interesting thing is that I don't think the spot is often recognised. It's the only spot where actually making it obvious that you know you're out doesn't affect you at all (a one-round penalty wouldn't hurt too much for a player with no chips!) but is important for the overall game.

He opens SB, I three bet 8h 7h in the big.

Flop Kd 9h 6d. He checks, I bet, he check-raises. I decide to call, and to raise a blank turn card, to represent that I have trapped a king.

Instead the turn is significant

Kd 9h 6d Ahrt

He bets. I raise, standard with the equity of 15 outs

River is the lovely

Kd 9h 6d Ahrt 5d.

He checks, I bet. Definitely some fear that he will raise. If he does, it's likely awful news of a flush. But he just calls.

Thanks so much guys, excited for today.

Table draw looks fairly encouraging. I didnt immediately recognise a name. That of course guarantees nothing, but is probably good news. And we have the overall chip leader

2pm restart. Structure is pretty immense. Big bet is 4k, meaning that a pre-flop raise and bet on every street comes only at the price of 14k. Could be a long one

Stu,

If it's any help, I ran your table through THM. It's only a rough & ready guide, as you know, but it may help.

Lose first hand, 115k

SB raises, I have Ac Ts in BB. I call the raise, and every street on

4s 4d 7s Aspades 2h.

I'm effectively trapping pre, and on the flop and turn. It is definitely better news if he checks the river, but it's a slam call of his bet.

Kings against aces was slightly weird.

UTG opens five handed, I 3bet button with KK, he decides to trap.

We go four bets on 762. (I call the 4th). And then its a standard, albeit very reluctant, call down on 76248

No good. Down to 40k

Raise  from CO. I have 88 in SB. I 3bet. He 4bets.

But it was slightly different. The original raise was very slow. That changes alot when he 4bets, let alone the fact he 4bet quickly. That's absolutely nothing definite you can conclude of course, but it would obviously seem to weight him towards being strong.

That may not change too much as it happens, but felt semi-relevant.

Board came QJ675. I called two and folded river.

The river fold feels safe enough, that it has to feel right. He can obviously sometimes have AK and AT. But I am well protected by the 765- there aren't too many pocket pairs now that he will think I can fold. And obviously I am protected from his decision to bluff, by the fact  that the bubble has just burst.

I just think he gives up alot on the river, even before we add the fact that we can weight him a fair bit more JJ+ because of the inconsistency of a slow pre flop raise, before a 4bet

Limp T8 SB

Flop QJ3. He bets, I think it's just about a call.

Turn QJ39sscc. Bink. I check raise. He three bets. I 4bet

The river is QJ39J. I think the river has about a 25% chance of giving him the lead.

Thankfully he has AQ, and calls

Three pots so far. Two small. One not small.

Pot 1

At 300-500(500). I Raise hijack to 1,200 with Kh Jh from 20k starting stack. Cutoff calls, Martins Adeniya  makes it 4,200 on the button.

I'm definitely considering it, but the small blind takes away the decision by moving in for 15k. Martins folds.

Pot 2

SB limps, I have Qc Ts in BB and make it 1,500 total. He calls, and folds to 1,400 on Jd Jc 3h

Pot 3

At 300-600(600), and a new, more promising table, I have Aspades Ac. I raise to 1,600, button calls.

Flop is 8h 8c 2d, and we both check.

Turn is the beautiful

8h 8c 2d Ahrt.

I check, he bets 1,400, I raise to 4,000, he calls.

River is 8h 8c 2d Ahrt 6s

I bet 10,500 of my remaining 14,000. He says all-in, I call.

He has the 8s 6d. Obviously an interesting pre-flop peel, but a brutal cooler after that

I've now got 41,000 from 20k starting. Let's go

Bluffed one. CO raises to 1,700, I call 7s 6s from the big blind.

Flop Jd 7d 3c. I checks, he bets 2k, I call

Turn Jd 7d 3c Kd. I check, he says "check" fairly definitively.

River is Jd 7d 3c Kd 9d

Somehow his definitive check on the turn made me think he had more likely J or K. And if he has a J or K, obviously he only has a diamond roughly 25% of the time.

There's a perfect candidate to turn you hand into a bluff, and it seemed he might be close to that; one who will fully understand that when you call the flop, you must end up with something on that runout, but who will not  anticipate that you have some things that you want to turn into a bluff here.

I bet 4,000, hoping it would induce the conclusion "well he must have a diamond " and got a tank fold.

39k

Hmm lost a bunch on spots that I think are sigh, but probably standard.

Down to 21k

Pot 1

Raise Qc Qs at 800BB UTG1 to 1,800. CO three bets to 5,200. He seems decent, but very steady. He has my 38k covered. I mean, it's just always a call. It's a bad get in, when it's nearly 50 bigs UTG1 Vs CO. It's not a fold, and it's not a three-bet fold.

I call, flop is

Aspades 7c 2h

I check, he bets 4,500. Obviously you can never be at all certain, but this is just a fold. It would seem no bluffing range, only a slight fear that he for some reason has bet JJ.

Pot 2

I raise Jc Js blind on blind Vs decent player to 1,800. He calls

Flop is Qd 8c 3d. I bet 1,800, he calls

Turn is Qc 8c 3d 9d.  Both check

River is Qc 8c 3d 9d 4h.

I bet 4,500 into 7,200, and it turns out a value own as he has Ks Qs.

Hmmm. I think he has more eights than queens after his turn check. I think he can sometimes have a 9. And obviously if I check, I will either have to pay off his queen value bet, or have some fear of being bluffed.

Pot 3

I raise Ad 7d CO and fold to a 14,200 shove from the SB.

Sadly, out. Ouch, that was a downfall that seemed fairly grim but I think was almost unavoidable

The only close one was...

Button opens at 800bb to 1,800. He has 17,500. I had done nothing out of line on either table- and this was significant as I had actually followed him from one to the other. He had made a couple of tight folds, and significantly, done so face up (given all that that implies)

I made it 5,000 with Jc Th, and he actually snapped "all in". Not the best timing for my first out of line action

After folding an orbit, I was down to 14,400 at 500-1000(1000). I had 4d 4c on the cutoff, moved in, and ran into the Qs Qc of the small blind.

No sweat on Kc Jd 9h 6h 3c

And that, sadly, is all she wrote.

They say to sell action to spread the variance, but in a way, it has only increased the pain for me. Everyone has been so supportive, that it's only made me wish more that it could have gone well, and that, in particular, we could have turned it round today.

Countdown begins til next year. I, for one, can't wait.
