lip balm -

OK you may scoff, but its a dry heat out there, and we are used to being damp most of the time. I can guarantee that your lips will be a pulpy bloody mess within 3 days of getting there if you don't use lip balm Smiley

Wow, coincidence!! Was clearing out some stuff last night and found the lip balm i had bought from the shop in Treasure Island where we were staying for last years WSOP and i actually added Lip Balm to my list of things to buy for this years trip!!

I wont be taking lip balm

For lip balm I need sun...if I am in the sun I am not playing poker....if I am not playing poker I am asleep or it is 4 am and I am drinking.....Therefore I dont need lip balm  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

If you have any doubts regarding The tax position of the WSOP I would contact there head office in Vegas. Harrahs marketing dept for the WSOP is now based at Ceasers palace. I am sure they will be able to tell you what there policy will be for this year. I know they had a lot of issues last year so hopefully they have now sorted this out.

One of the key people heading up the event is Jeffrey Polock who will have no clue about what to do but I am sure his PA will  Cheesy.

On getting an ITIN number, I was in Vegas in March and placed second in the daily $540 Bellagio comp.
At the final table the tourny director came around asking for ID's from everyone to speed up the paper work.  Being the only Brit on the table the TD explained about the ITIN number, took my passport and spent the next 30 mins filling out the paperwork for me while I played.

After the comp she said the casino would send off for the ITIN number for me and I could come back the next day and get the number for future use.  Thats nice service!!

The same happened to me at the wpt in April I cashed and they did all the paperwork. I had a lot more problems with Harrahs last year though I eventually got paid in full. I now have the paperwork sorted but I advise anyone going to be prepared.

To me anything you do should be enjoyable. I have been a recreational player for 30 years and have only recently (the last three years) started playing more. I prefer live to on line everytime but most of all I want to enjoy what I do. There seems to be so many players that play everyday on line and no longer enjoy the game. This is obviously going to burn them out and will result in them losing. Poker cannot be played well with to much emotion attatched, if you are tired, bored, buzzed or angry you will not play your best game.

So the discipline is as much about balancing your life off the table as it is on it. If poker becomes a chore...walk away for a while, it will still be there when you come back. Play the games that give you confidence and challenge yourself in a way that makes you fel positive, not scared or bored.

If you are questioning everything that you do, the games and structures that you play and the hours that you put in........then its time to take a break.......Vegas is nice at this time of year  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Keep on smiling

Its the buzz of a tourney win though.

Say, I make $1500 playing cash in a day, but I win an MTT for $1500

Which gives you the bigger buzz??  The MTT win of course.

The Buzz is great ....going to Vegas coz I managed my cash is better

The site you play can make a big difference. For example I think the cash games on Tribecca offer lots of opportunity but the STTs are better on Stars and I would not touch tournies except as a bonus to myself if things are going well

New rule :   Never play with a hangover.

The true gauge of a great player is to ask his or her peers. I believe if you asked Brunson,Chan,Helmuth or reece they would say that Stu Unger was a great poker player. He was just a loser off the table which makes it all the more tragic that such a talent should not be around today.

Rule 1

If you are a mad Liverpool supporter and therefore likely to drink after an FA cup final DO NOT PLAY POKER THAT NIGHT

Rule 2

When after several hours of talking to your two new found friends (absolut and smirnoff ) Do not decide that you have more moves than Gus Hanson and more cunning than Doyle Brunson, because you do not. Simply go to bed and await the bloody awfull hangover that will follow.

Rule 3

Do not go to the forum to post, as this means going to your laptop and switching it on. THIS IS A VERY BAD IDEA.

Rule 4

Do not convince yourself to open your poker room to see who on your buddy list is playing at 2am in the morning, so that you can discuss the game with them. This is totally pointless as you can hardly see the key board anyhow!!!!

Rule 5

Remember no matter how drunk you are you always can manage to find the call or raise buttons. You also have an amazing ability to to find the "more chips" icon.

Rule 6

NEVER BREAK RULES1-5 IN THE SAME NIGHT!!!!!!!!!

I think you have to put this down to experience. I used to have this happen regardless of which room I was playing in. I now have a more expensive ISP and havent been off line this year. I sympathise though as it feels like you have just been ripped off but have no one to blame
