I'm in training for marathon in Oct, latest run was an aim of 10-12 miles, depending on how I felt. Ended up running 12.4 miles in 2h2m. Wasn't taking much notice at the time as 12 miles was the goal. If I had kept going at the pace, a half mara would have been done in a 6min pb.
Probably going to run Jon MW local half marathon, which has been rearranged for start of Oct. It it very hilly, so good practice for Beachy Head marathon
Current weight 14st 7, my VO2 max is 42 according to my Garmin Last BP reading was 158/92
Anyone got favs? There are so many and unfortunately a lot of them have either very little content or don't actually cover the topic billed. One I watched the other day claimed to show the difference between good putters and bad putters and then prattled on about the most common error of good putters until I gave up with it.
This is an ok one for content and somewhat on topic with thread readers.
Golf life with Jimmy Bullard Had spome decent stuff recently with him getting coaching, including from Faldo
Incidentally, I tried to renew my long-lost Caesars Reward Card this morning & it rejected me, saying my e-Mail address was already showing as registered. I so wanted to say "well great, let's use that then" but it's an Online form where there's no facility for such comments.
Anyway, Paris/Horseshoe here I come, with a bucket full of patience & a goof book, as there'll be queues galore.
I think you just reprint a card at a machine or rewards desk . Plenty of people lose them so it makes sense it doesn’t let you sign up again. Gonna try all my stuff later , will report back if I’m not too distracted and tired .
Tempted to play to 2pm mgm limit 08 Nugget has a big O 5pm I think but not heading there today
Customs queue right now
Same when I went to Florida earlier in teh year. Guy seemed disinterested, quick look at passport and sent on our way
Well damn, I've just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes as well.
So far they haven't mentioned diet, only to take Metformin. They also said my blood pressure and cholesterol were the high end of normal so because of the diabetes diagnosis I've got drugs for those as well.
But this is literally all within the last few weeks, so they still have time to add something about food.
Hopefully everything stabilises out nicely for you, and I, and a new stasis level comes around soon.
Ha, got high cholesterol and blood pressure was borderline too. They offered me statins, but was of the view that restricted diet + Metformin + statins was too much at once. They gave the impression, statins were up to me, as my readings weren't that bad.
Metformin has been a ball ache as I have a long commute and find I am half way to work before I realise I haven't taken it, but am getting better at remembering.
Going to see how my cholesterol is after the diet and take it from there. With a bit of luck I won't need any of the drugs in 6 months. If cholesterol is still high, will probably take the statins.
Weird question, but how much do you test your blood? Turns out one of the other blokes at work was also diagnosed recently. He has been told to test his blood twice a day; me once a week. His sounds more extreme though. Reading around, different sources say entirely different things, so might just do twice a week or something not too extreme.
Sorry to hear that Doobs, stick with the diet and exercise where you can, try and minimise the drugs if you can avoid them. Mind you, my Dr would state I am a nightmare as I refuse to take meds that are prescribed. I have very high blood pressure, but all other bloods tests are in range and symptom free. While i'm not a tin foil hat merchant, my BP was always normal/low pre covid jab.
On the exercise front, I completed the ultra in March, then took four weeks off running. It was very rocky on the trails and it wrecked my feet. lots of blisters and toes going black. Also messed with my stomach for a week. Run 61min 10k last week on an easy training run, not sure how as it was 3 mins faster than my typical run for that distance.
Have you looked into getting something like a card from Chase bank? I have one for the states as it works as a debit card, at the mid market rate and doesn't charge fees as far as I now, when using it in the states
I do 12.5 hr shifts Doobs, so 13.5hr with travel. Often feel tires but try and do 3 miles/30mins where I can
I need to do a diet..lol currently 15st 5 (excess over xmas) I'm doing the same half marathon again this year, current training block is 5mins faster than my previous best time for the half. Still slow as fk mind. Also doing an Ultra the end of March. Slightly easier this one as it is a lap every hour for 10 hours Have also entered the Beachy Head marathon in October, which is one of the toughest around
Did the February half today, just run it as a training run, due to flying to the stats on hols on Tues. Actually ran it 5 mins quicker than last year Longest run this year has been 17.5 miles - knees and feet were sore..lol Currently 14st 7lb
Also, does having Google at your fingertips cause you to want to ask more questions? I'm Googling stuff all day now that I can.
Watching a TV show: Where have I seen that bloke before, what was he in?
Hit pause button.
Google cast list, find actor's name, Google list of stuff that he's been in, usually found on Wikki which opens a whole nother can of worms.
Half an hour later, back to the show.
What exactly is Police code 10 89?
Hit pause button.
Google police code 10 89, spend 10 minutes worrying if AI will alert the anti-terrorist squad, who will then investigate me...
Back to the show.
Why is the forestock on that police shotgun green?
Hit pause button, etc etc.
I wonder if I even wondered about all this stuff when I couldn't easily find the answer?
For anything tv or movie related I use www.imdb.com lists all the stuff the actors have been in, without having to get past all the google waffle first

Lol. I regularly see those, "I've bought em so I'm wearing em" shorts blokes striding through the woods with corned beef legs.
I often forget to put a light on and Mrs Red comes home and says, "What are you up to, why are you sitting in the dark?"
I've worn them years round for as long as I can remember. Don't feel the cold on my legs. Put it down to a hard life growing up, or more likely, out playing football in all weathers as a sports mad child
Under 10* is pretty cold for a house to get. I was on hols a couple of winters ago and something went wrong with the boiler so it didn't start, as it should have, when the house fell below 16. Think the house was about 11* or 12* when I got back. The boiler started after a tioatioa but it took about 12 hours at full tilt to get up to 20*.
We wouldn't have it that low of course, house was bloody cold. Son thought it was great!!
