Rod Paradise u say Walter only done well in spells for Rangers ? He done incredibly well during the whole spell and as for Everton he joined them at a time when the club were in financial dissaray and were battling relegation year after year. Walter was promised money before he sighned the contract but it never evaporated. He definetly steadied the ship during his time signing some real gems like Gravesen and Dacourt and bringing through Jeffers. He had to also put up with the board selling his best players behind his back like Ferguson and Dacourt. One of the real reasons Everton r in a good financial footing today is down to Walter.

Patman get ur facts right before u come on here and spout ur crap. Calling Walter Smith a journeyman is a load of rubbish. He has managed 2 clubs so how on earth can u call him that ? Also how can u say Walter done ok at Rangers the guy is a legend at the club after winning numerous trophies and leading us to 9 in a row. Taking Rangers to within 1 game of the Champions League final was an incredible achievement and not one the Rangers fans will forget. Also he had to put up with the 3 foreigners rule so u can imagine how difficult it would have been having to mainly shop in the Scottish market.

Rangers European champions league run in 1993 is the furthest any Scots team has been in Europe in the last 20 years. THIS IS NOT UP FOR DISCUSSION IT IS A FACT and for u to bring up this 'final' in 2003 is a joke. Rangers achievement last season in becoming the 1st Scots team to reach the last 16 is going further in Europe than ur uefa final another FACT.
