1st of all Berti has never won the world cup as manager and secondly Walter is a tactical genius he proved it with Rangers and he is now proving it with scotland. The proof's in the pudding m8 just look at his record.
Much as I'm glad that Wattie has greatly improved Scotland's fortunes, he does seem to have an unusual touch. He's making a fairly average bunch of Scotland players look pretty decent. Yet with all Murray's millions he couldn't do anything in Europe with Rangers, and he managed to make two World Cup winners look like very average players - Gattuso at Rangers and Matterazzi at Everton. Long may his success with Scotland continue.

I think you'll find Walter Smith's Rangers side had the furthest European run of a Scottish side in the last 20 years coming within 1 match of the champions league final also knocking out the English champions along the way and by the way Gattuso was excellent for Rangers he was signed as an 19 year old with potential and Walter turned him into a top quality 1st team player. He was signed on a free transfer and was soled 18 months later for £3.5 million not a bad piece of business i think you'll agree.

Incorrect coming within 1 match of the champions league final
When there were two groups of four as I recall. I also seem to recall Scott Nisbet scoring one of the most fortuitous goals ever seen, in a game Rangers were losing 2-0 at Ibrox? Gattuso was excellent for Rangers he was signed as an 19 year old with potential and Walter turned him into a top quality 1st team player. He was signed on a free transfer and was soled 18 months later for £3.5 million not a bad piece of business i think you'll agree.
If you call playing like an Italian Terry Hurlock as 'top quality' we can agree to differ on that one. I also recall the good business was something to do with the way Rangers poached him using a loophole in the amateur regulations, thus causing a protest from the Italian authorities about Dodgy Dave's dealings? (Ironic I know!)

The year Rangers almost won the champions league it was down to the last 8 and Rangers finished 2nd in there group unbeaten for the whole tournament. That IS the furthest a Scots team has gone in Europe in the last 20 years. FACT
