1  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Can i get away from this? on: September 22, 2012, 06:25:20 PM
Live multi table tourn, 130 runners down to last three tables.

I've played solid so far and in the previous hand doubled up, stack is 65k. Blinds 2k/4k with 300 Antes (8 at table). Ave stack is 80k but due to two big stacks everyone is pretty much far less than this.
The two big stacks are on my table, both of whom have been on previous tables of mine and play very loose agg, been lucky to have the stacks they have.

All fold to me in cut off, i have  and make a raise of 3xbb. All folds to one of the big stacks in the SB who fumbles around for a while then chucks in a huge pile of chips, BB folds.

I'm allin to call.......Easy call? Is folding a complete donk move?

Need to point out.......the bit thats doing my head in is the grief i got from the other players for my eventual play.

The main reason i led on the flop is i was expecting villain to raise or AT LEAST call (i know this guy quite well) and i must admit i was trying to build the pot at this stage........am i wrong here?

I did shove and he called after a little thought. He showed  .

During the post hand discussions he thought my play was a poor one as "i had no hand"

Again, thanks for your thoughts guys

"Creative on flop" means just what you said Boldie.

I take it you would have ch called the flop?

Appreciate you taking time to reply, thanks.

Live game short handed.
5 players, total chips in play 36k. Before hand starts i have 10k villain has 8k. Blinds 200/400, payout is top 2 although 2nd only money back.
Dealer is an aggressive player who will play any two but would usually raise good hands pre flop, likes to get creative on flop.

I'm in BB with
All fold to button who calls, SB calls i check.
Pot 1200

Flop comes Two Clubs

SB ch
I bet 700
Villain raises to 2100
SB folds

Whats your play?

5  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / A quick one on: January 25, 2010, 08:49:23 PM
Hi all just a quick one

Should i consider a fold here?

Blinds are 40/80 i have 3700 villain has 4kish.

Me   in cut off i open for 190.......i know on the small side but i was expecting a re-raise from an aggressive BB as i'd stole blinds last hand with same bet amount.

All fold to bb who makes call, 2 for flop pot is 420.

Flop comes   he checks, i bet 300 he calls, next card   i bet 750 he pushes.

Call or fold?
Should i have played any part of it differently? (Except maybe the opening raise  )

Thanks

Set him in
 shoving  could be abit iffy

lol what?

But yeah don't see how you and your friend could possibly share such a difference of opinion on what seems like the most standard shove ever.

I dont normally post, i read the boards a lot tho. My mates view did get bemused i had to get other opinions.
My play was to set him allin (i did not push as thats iffy  Wink) my mate said that was wrong, he said a raise was the play. He was adamant me putting him allin was wrong!! I just cant see it based on the stack size of the raiser and the fact i was the only player left.

4763. No point wasting that extra 50 that Titbeam's putting in.

After his raise he's only got 3612 back, but i get your drift....put him allin!

Raiser has been fairly loose and aggressive.

So the question is whats your play with the Jacks?

Call and assess flop OR,
Re-raise and if so how much? (That's the important bit)

Appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks

For what its worth guys i used to play a lot of Tenpin Bowling (national level at under 18). I never actually scored a 300 but over two back to back games i threw 17 strikes in a row, did this quite often. (12 to make a 300) I knew collegues that had bowled 3 or 4 300 games before the age of 18!!

Not wishing to suggest that this is easy the level of practice was enormous, but it is for all the sports mentioned. I would say the 9 dart finish is the toughest, at least with snooker during a break you may have two or three reds on offer at any point in time, which i think builds in slight room for error. With darts you gotta hit that little treble bit EVERY time.

Deffo 9 dart finish toughest, then 147, then 300...hole in one piece of cake  Wink

Boldie,

I liked your thoughts on Harrigton's book. I've been playin a few months under dan's regime and have done ok (online) however it didnt take me long to come to the conclusion that you point out above. My main profits have arisen from MTT's which attract a better standard of player who can appreciate a move or two...usually.

I have struggled on the STT's tho, for obvious reasons if you know Dan's book, have you got any advice on adjusting my play for STT's or can you suggest any good books etc?

Thanks
Tilto
PS. James I'd appreciate your thoughts too if you have a minute when your not jamming the 1c/2c limit tables   Cheesy

Thanks for your thoughts guys,

Just a point for Tantrum. It was a Single table tourny not a MTT, does that make much of a difference to your opinion?

The other question i have is what would you guys class as low limits, it was a $10 tourny, thats low for some but is it as low as you thought when you first read?

At what level would you expect to see players playing poker rather than bingo  Cheesy

Thanks again

Tilto

Hi guys i would appreciate your comments on the below....be gentle i'm a newbie!!

Low stakes STT
Blinds 30/60 (Level 2)
Table has played loose so far and 1 is gone already (8 left)

I'm in mid position and pick up

1 early limper, i raise to 180, folded round to button who calls, so does SB,BB and limper. Pot 900

Flop comes  three clubs

Limper checks, I bet 500, button re-raises all in, SB,BB and limper all fold.

The pot i can take down is 3070 i have 1670 left (he had me covered)

Q. Should i have called?

Q. Am i right to assume mt pre-flop bet was too small?

I did call and he turns over  and his trips hold up.

Comments greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Tilto.
