Woohoo I've finally completed phase 1 of Alex's Bankroll Boosting challenge. It took me a little longer than the perscribed 1-2 months, 2 months 21 days to be precise and a total of 316 SNGs but I've finally done it. The stats: Played: 316 (mixture of $5 & $10 - 10man SNG on Party Poker predominantly) ITM: 41% ROI: 15% Profit: $415.40 Hours taken: 163 Hourly rate: $2.48 OK, so Tank, Dale or some of the other maniac's around here could probably pulled off the same result over a weekend but I'm chuffed to bits. I'm about to start on phase 2 and attempt to spin my $600 up to $1,200 at the $20 tables. Here Goes... light the blue touch paper and stand back while I donk it all off Check out my blog if you want to read all the gory details. There's a link to it in my signature at the bottom of this post.

Good luck Rob,
I would have a word with the Poker Gods on your behalf... but they don't usually listen to me.
I'll just have to cross my fingers instead.

lets face it who would volunteer to put their bankroll where their mouth is and show the reading world just how you can progress/or not?
Call me misguided or just plane stupid but that's exactly what I'm doing on my blog Not entirely the same challenge as described by Alex but definately inspired by it. My challenge, 200 x $10 SNG & 20% ROI by end September, seriously lightweight stuff compared to Tank & Dale's exploits but a challenge for me. Prety much what Alex describes for the 1st step. http://weblomaniac.blogspot.com/2007/09/september-challenge.html Having said that, the way things are going I reserve the right to stop writing, change my name and leave the country under a cloud if I have many more days like the last couple.

I once bought a nice pair of boots from River Island and wore them for 3 months before one of my mates noticed that they were actually different. It caused a bit of a giggle but I thought nothing of it and kept on wearing them.
Another few months later I was back in the same shop buying some more shoes and I jokingly said to the salesman to make sure they were both the same as last time I'd got a mixed pair, he asked me what they were like so I described them and much to my amazement he said he still had the the other two mis-mathced boots.
He brought them out and sure enough... being a bit of a blagger, I said that he should give me them for nothing to make up for the ridicule I had suffered, in the end I got them for a £5.
Back home I now had a dillema though, should I wear a pair of equally worn mismatched boots, or a matching pair with one brand new and one with 6 months wear and tear !!! I elected to wear the mismatched but equally worn sets and was delighted that I'd got a new set of boots for a fiver.
I would like to add that since I started playing poker my powers of observation have imrpoved dramatically, so don't go trying to pull a fast one me at the felt.

Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DUSK TILL DAWN - HAVE YOUR SAY AT THE COURT HEARING..............

For me, poker is an enormously satisfying leasure activity that stimulates me mentally, has a great social scene and provides me with an excellent distraction from the stresses of modern life. As a poker player I recognise that I have a choice as to where I can play live poker, my first choice is without doubt, Dusk Till Dawn.
I want to play poker at Dusk Till Dawn because:
1) I want to play poker in a frienfly, dedicated cardroom where the emphasis is put on providing excellent poker games and looking after the poker players needs. I am not interested in playing at a venue where the main emphasis is on table games that are weighted in favour of the casino owner. Dusk till Dawn will be a dedicated, poker only venue offering great games in a fabulous environment.
2) I want to play poker in a safe, regulated environment. I could choose to play in unregulated cardrooms, home games or pub leagues but I would prefer to play in a regulated poker room. I have the utmost respect and admiration for Mr.Yong's steadfast determination to do everything by the book and obtain all the necessary licenses, for that reason Dusk Till Dawn has to be my first choice for playing live poker.
3) I want to patronise a poker venue that is founded on strong moral principals, that will benefit the poker indusrty and community within the UK. I don't want to patronise a venue whose sole motivation is to maximise it's own profit, potentially at the expense of other legitimate poker enterprises. The candid approach Mr.Yong has taken to Dusk Till Dawn is admirable and stands in stark contrast to behaviours exhibited by the large casino groups. I want to play poker in a venue where I trust and respect the owners, Dusk Till Dawn is therefore my first choice in that respect.
