Just watched this. Fair play to Antonius for taking it so well. As Kaplan said, it would have been amusing if it was Helmuth.

I enjoyed Sunshine and thought the visuals were really good. Plot got silly towards the end and left too much unexplained really imo.

Prison Break, as everyone else has said has never lived up to the first series which was a good new premise for a TV show.
Best show on TV though? Not imho - that would go to The Shield, although Dexter is a good show if you haven't caught it yet.

Excellent news to hear it's coming back. This is what got me into poker years ago. Good luck to all blondes taking part.

and very very few mugs, myself excepted

Once life settles down a bit for me and the mother in law moves out and my sister leaves after her visit from Chicago I might try pop down one Wednesday.... I discovered that Saturdays didn't seem to be for me. The rebuys in the £20 on Tightys table seemed to encourage people with ESP to enter coin flips with me to often. Was fun though! Cheesy

Having missed the original thread and only have the info in this one I can only offer my best wishes for you and Reece. Being a new father myself I can't even begin to imagine the amount you must have going on right now.

A great show that episode. They never knew whether people had aces or were just playing 7-2! I think one of the newcomers to the table invested around $50k into a pot with it.
7  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: house sales delays.,.,.???? on: August 28, 2007, 08:04:44 AM
Ours was a nightmare.... Long story short... she discolsed to us on the DAY OF EXCHANGE that there was a development at the bottom of our garden building 2 blocks of flats!
She knew full well my girlfriend was pregnant and we did not have any option of pulling out of the sale. She told us so many times a date we would exchange and only to change it multiple times. We understand that things happen in the process to delay things but our solcitor was telling us dates for definate time after time.

Anyway, we complained. Our solicitor got the sack as this was not the first complaint against here and we got half our fees back via complaining through The Law Society who were extremely helpful.

There are ways around this if you have a hooky version (which it certainly sounds like you do)
This would be time consuming and a bit complex if you aren't experienced in searching for, obtaining, downloading and most importantly installing software like this.
There is usually a version of xp released which contains all updates monthly from "eth0" if you google "eth0 xp" this and search for the latest version you should be ok.

I believe that there is also a way around the genuine certifcation which would then allow you to download updates although I would know nothing about this as it looks far too complex for me!

Easy answer as others have said is to bite the bullet and my the operating system.
Until recently I had been running windows 2000 on my 2 pc's at home for the reason that I was always able to get updates for it. I've recently put xp onto one of these machines with the june version of xp but have not updated it since. I am not too concerned with security on this PC as I use it purely for downloading and have any programs etc on another machine.

I now play most of my poker from a recently purchased laptop which came with vista. I have to say I'm more than happy with vista's performance so far and reluctantly find nothing wrong with it for my purposes.
12  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Sky poker? Down or dont they like me? on: August 21, 2007, 09:53:41 PM
I have given up attempting to play on a Tuesday on Sky. The velocity live with it's increased 800 players seems to put too much strain on the system and so many people keep getting disconnected.. myself included.

Simple answer.

DONT

Just buy a DVD player that is Div X complient (You can get good ones for £40)

Then just burn the divx (avi) file as a data cd

Wink

Best thing I did in ages this was.
Bought a Kiss dvd player about 3-4 years ago but am looking to change it if possible now but have yet to find anything which does everything I need.

My current one as m3boy says plays back xvid/divx etc. The only things it struggles with is if the file was encoded using QPEL, but this doesn't seem to be as much of a problem as it was maybe 1-2 years ago.
It also has an inbuilt 80gb hard disk and a standard network port for connect directly onto your home network. This allows me to either play directly from a computer (which has to be on) or to copy files from a pc onto the hard disk to view later.

The only downsides to my current player is that has no ability to record from tv and the network is not wireless and since moving house I am reluctant to run a network cable all over the place to connect upstairs and downstairs.

I find it amazing that there does not appear to be a player on the market which is a dvd recorder, has a built in hard drive and is compatible with a wireless network and rj45 network input.

Having recently bought a laptop I intend to use this to copy files onto and then plug this directly into my dvd player as a temporary work around.

If you dont mind burning things to CD then one with no hard drive/network capabilities is fine and a sound investment if you obtain movie files frequently.

With the Fall seasons fast approaching with all the major TV series coming back soon now might be a good time to get one Smiley

Most of the best films I've watched over the last few years have been foreign - City of God (you must see this film), Oldboy,

City Of God is possibly the best film I have ever seen (and I have seen alot - 2 terrabytes on a pc worth!). If you don't mind sub titles as the film was made in Brazil then I can not recomend this enough. It's the story of a ghetto drug dealer and his friends from childhood onwards and the different paths they take. The director used a lot of local gangs as extras and apparently there were a lot of tensions on set as a result of it.

Oldboy is also another good film. Korean I believe and his part of the directors 3 (possibly 4) films all about revenge, this is the best of them but all others are also worth checking out.

I know it's a cliche but if you  enjoy The Departed and again don't mind films with subtitles then the original oriental films it was based on are far superior in my opinion. The"Infernal Affairs" trilogy is worth looking at. Doesn't obviously have a lot of the Scorsese trade mark quality touches like the Departed but on the whole much better imho.
