1  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: DUSK TILL DAWN - HAVE YOUR SAY AT THE COURT HEARING.............. on: August 07, 2007, 08:30:57 PM
I would like to play poker at Dusk Till Dawn because................................................."

i would like to play poker  without a casino trying to draw me into games of chance where the only winner is the casino

a) It will be a legal, safe and friendly venue

b) It will be large enough to hold some of the most prestigious tournaments in Europe

c) Having a poker only card club, many poker players including myself will want to play there and support it

Dusk till Dawn will cater only for poker players who just want to play poker and have no interest in casino games

Give us the chance to play the game that we all love to play.

3  Poker Forums / The Rail / WSOP freeroll on Bet365 on: April 03, 2005, 01:37:13 AM
http://Have to tell u about this.

On bet365 there was freeroll, 1st place was a WSOP ticket. The next 34 places were for a WSOP main Qualifier Next Sunday and places 36 - 100 were for an entry into a $100k tournament.

When it got down to about 300 Playersthe tables slowed right down, so that the other players on the other tables could go ahead and knock themselves out. So they could then move up the rankings.

Once the 101st player was knocked out it was a mad house everyone was going all in with nothing at all.
The best part was a young lad who was only 20 and his birthday was the day after the WSOP finished was begging people to take his chips. he was going all in with nothing. One hand he went all in with 32 and he flopped a full house. In 3 hands he went from 70,000 chips to over 350,000.
One player was from Rumania and he said that he wasn't allowed to leave the countrywhen I stopped watching he was the chip leader

It was funny as hell every one was cursing when they got good hands.

Anyway I can honestly say that there did not appear to ne many people interested in a WSOP seat all they wanted was a chance to go for the $100 k

I was reading a recent article by Simon (ACES) Trumper, on the UK Betting site (http://www.ukbettingpoker.co.uk/Lessons/0,12862,298200,00.html ), in which he suggested that the top players should play together so that the public can see their favourite stars regularly and all the finals will comprise great lineups.

I think that this could turn out to be one of the first attempts by proffesional players to form a sort of elitist Professional Poker Players Association.

I think the idea of the tournaments would be a great idea, but not if it means excluding the ordinary punter. I think that to do this would be a bad thing for poker in general.

The way I see it is that  a lot of sponsorship will be / and is being attracted to the game.

Its popularity is growing because of the influx of online players, anybody with the talent, some luck and a even only a small bankroll can compete with the best players in the top events.

Poker is the only game in the world where a rank amateur can play with and if he makes the right decisions beat the Pro's.

If it wasn't for the growth of the internet poker sites:

Would the game be as big as it currently is?

Would the live tournaments be attracting the increasing number of entrants?

Would the sponsers be putting up the money if the game was not being watched and played by the ordinary player.

In the past professional poker players have been more than happy to take the fish's money. so don,t let the profesionals close ranks and stop the amateur player from having their chance at the top.

Strange to see, that in a lot of big money tournaments a lot of the finalist's got their by qualifying in sattelites from the net.

How many players will have won a seat to the WSOP by qualifying on line?

I think that in a couple of years the old style professional player will not be able to compete against the internet players unless they adapt to the poker net.

What do you think?

Cheers

I am a member of a snooker club, owned and run by the members

A few of us (7) play NLHE tournaments (5.00) and low stakes .10p / 20p games, 1 sometimes 2 nights a week. Never had any problem from the committee.
We are discreet, dont go shouting about the game, and dont make any trouble in the club.
We saw the committee and asked about running games on a regular basis.
They said no as it would contravene the gaming act.

Another suggestion that we had, was to form a poker league where each player pays subscriptions (2.00).
The cost to enter the games would be 5.00. Every player is awarded points for the position that they finished and for showing up and playing on a poker night.

The plan was at the end of the year, the position points would be tallied up and the money shared out, with those players who finished higher, would receive a larger share.

The subscription fees (after costs) would be divided equally and added to the added to the prize money from the games. This would mean that all players good or bad would recieve a share of the money.

Any way the point is that the committee have rejected the second suggestion as well.

Could anyone,if possible clarify the rules about the gaming act in a private snooker club?
Would like some input about the league as well, please.

Cheers and thanks in advance

9  Poker Forums / The Rail / Player notes on: February 20, 2005, 07:30:37 PM
I am trying to keep player notes, but find it hard to write down the information during the game. What would be ideal would be to have some sort of Electronic rollsdeck.
Does any one know if there are any out there?
Also, would like any advice of exactly what to keep in the notes.
At the present I am keeping:-
the starting hands
what type of player they are (solid, a Pot chase or a player who only plays the top dozen or so hands).
wether or not they were caught bluffing
would appreciate any help
thanks in advance

I would love to watch or even compete in a NL hold'em tournament.
Does any one know of any card rooms in the northeast?
I like watching poker on the TV and would love to try a live tournament. I realise that there is a very slim chance of winning, but would look forward to playing live
I do keep records and after 1 year playing on line I am about 28% up on my original stake (300) I do try to win big, but i am quite happy playing to earn just enough to keep me on the tables.
Is there any places in the North East that members coould recommend?
Many thanks

12  Poker Forums / The Rail / Sitting out fair or what? on: February 20, 2005, 04:51:32 PM
Just in a NL Hold'em tournament on Littlewoods.
What do people think about players who get a good chip count and then sit out avoiding all play until the field gets down.
I know that its not against the rules, but surely it is against the spirit of the game? I think that if you are in it you should be sitting at the table paying attention to the game,
would like to know what others think?
