I just got the exact same text from party. I haven't played there for years, which makes it all the more strange. Its a disgrace if i've been charged

cheers for your opinion matt. yeah thats what i did, after a bit of a dwell. Its just that i was almost certain he had the str8; most hands he'd want to protect i think he'd bet out rather than check-raise. and if i'm right with my read then thats just giving my chips away surely. But i'm not a good enough player to throw away top two so i went with it.

I've hit a pretty much dream flop, checked it and there's been a raise and a reraise back to me. Falcon must be strong here (i'm thinking Q10, although KJ, AJ, Ax hearts are all distinctly possible), but what do i do? If i raise and hes got the Q10, i'm drawing thin.

Yeah, it was a genuine hand, in the end i called, was too much in the pot to fold IMO, and he did have the AA as he said.

Flop gave me a bit of hope , but i missed and was out 2 hands later.

Thanks for your replies, i feel a bit more confident i did the right thing by calling, despite the (inevitable) outcome.
5  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Odds question. on: March 21, 2006, 04:03:27 PM
This might be a bit of a dumb question but i'll ask anyway....

I am in an mtt, 14 players left, with an average 40k. Blinds 3k/6k.

In mid position i find  , and raise to 18k.

The button (very tight) quickly moves in for 29k total, the blinds fold and before i get a chance to decide, button types in the lobby "i have AA".

It is back to me. Its 11k to call, there's (18+29+6+3=) 56k in the pot, so i'm getting 5-1 on the call. If i think he's lying, its not an issue, i call, but i don't think he is. If he has AA, i'm a 4-1 shot. So the pot odds are (marginally) there.

My question is, is it still correct to call off 11k here (leaving me with a pretty useless 2bbs if i lose), on what is essentially a long shot? (unless he's lying that is....)

One time, a couple of mates and myself were watching some poker on channel 5(?) when Phil Taylor was on. One of the guys jokingly asked me, "is phil 'the power' taylor your dad?" (My surname is Taylor btw). At which point, another mate interjected "yeah he is, didn't you know?". After much persuasion (and a few more cans), captain gullible actually believed it, so much so that he called me "the power" every time he saw me. I guess it kind of stuck. We did break the news gently to him in the end.

P.S. Just for the record, I am in no way related to the darts legend.
