I just got this on my Moby.....

"Dear tikay, text POKER to (xxxxx) for your FREE Party Poker Mobile Game and start playing on the move. To stop msgs txt NO to (xxxxx)......."

I never gave Party Poker my Moby number, how they get that? They pay someone to pass on Moby numbers?

And presumably, I have to pay for the Text to them asking them not to text me?

yes you'd have to pay for receiving the text. even sending them a text to say STOP will trigger umpteen more texts to say they've received it, ou've been removed and numerous other promotional texts from other companies. the best way of stopping this is to get in touch with your network provider and asking them to block your number from these promotional texts and to also phone the company in question (using a landline phone) and asking them to remove you from their database.

they get the numbers from a variety of sources and these sources then sell on your personal info to other companies

But it said "Dear tikay", it's tough to make a connection between the name "tikay" & the name my 'phone is registered in - "A J Kendall". So they never got it from my service provider.

no they wouldnt get it from your service provider....no service provider would ever sell your info on. chances are you entered your mobile phone details to a site when you registered with that name and they have sold it on or is sending you the text messages

The writing IS a bit small for me, I'll admit. Maybe it was a misread.

I just got the exact same text from party. I haven't played there for years, which makes it all the more strange. Its a disgrace if i've been charged

I got spammed earlier on my laptop.  I sent the details to Ironside because when I opened it, I got a virus. I had to delete my hotmail link and reconnect it because it kept freezing after I had opened the email. I ran my virus checker and it came up with an add-on that kept popping up on the screen.

I don't like spammers, but I also felt abit bad burning the person. They are just doing a job at the end of the day. If it hadn't given me a virus then I would have just deleted it and thought nothing more of it. But I didn't want any Blondes getting the same virus I had.  It is better to share rather than risk others having the same problems later.
