I have to say the decision is disconcerting.  Having never been to DTD and hopeful of making the trip down from Glasgow sometime, this decision reeks of incompetence to me.

If the info in the OP is correct, its pretty straight forward decision.

Would be a riot up here if any other decision had been made in a Scottish cardroom.

Please, lets not exaggerate. We don't know if the info in the OP is 100% accurate -  it quite often isn't in ruling threads- and using words like incompetence and riot is way over the top

The TD concerned has been pointed to this thread, and talked to Simon Trumper about it, by the way

I apologise for my language.  When I posted it was based on the OP being correct.  If the TD ruled the villain didnt say call I can maybe understand the decision but I wouldnt agree with it.

actually the first time I came across the rule I quoted above was after a decision in the Glasgow Alea in a £200 comp.  A player bet 1400 and another player called 400.  The ruling was that it was a genuine mistake.  I though this was the wrong decision at the time, but there were no riots  Cheesy

These situations are different imo.  But I can understand where sometimes the lines get blurred.  I have been in situations early in tournies where people say call when they intend to limp not realising there has been a raise.  I have seen them get their chips back.  Maybe under this ruling you talked about.

But I have seen loads of instances, usually later in the tourney where the decision is made that the player can fold and leave the chips in that he has put across the line.

Admittedly these are usually before the final round of betting.

Cheers dudes.  I did snap and lost to a better starting hand.  Wondered if I could have gotten away.  His only evidence of me was completing with A9.  He had to assume I was better there?

Anyway, thanks again.

Thanks for replying.  I jammed after 40 seconds or so. She had Kings.

I guess in game I thought her range would be tight, but couldnt get my head around her risking it just getting completed and going to the flop multi way.

After I busted, I wondered if I should be folding and waiting for a better spot.

Playing in a live tourney.  35 players left.  Effectively a 30 quid rebuy.  Rebuy period ended.

Last hand of 600/1200/100

I have recently joined this table.  I have played 2 hands in 2 orbits.  Both times I have AKs.  Both times I raise 2.5x.  Once I hit on the flop, once I dont.  Both times I C-bet and dont get called.

Villain is a lady who has played maybe 2 hands per orbit.  Most notable calling a 3bet shove with AK. She lost to KJ.

She is in late position and open limps playing 50k.

I make it 3k from 18k with  .

Both blinds call.  Again, both these players have been tight.  SB has 25k, BB has 60k.

Back around to lady who makes it 9.5k.

Pot is now 19400.

My thought process was this.....I either shove or fold obv.  If I shove the blinds will fold and the lady will call.  Maybe if the lady has AK, one or both the blinds could fold some of her outs?  If I shove my remaining 15k in and she calls the pot is around 43k?

But I know overall I am behind her range of JJ+ and AK, maybe AQs.  I dont think she is getting fancy here with worse but you never know.

?

Be gentle.

Ok, limping is a big issue I have.

Thanks for the feedback.  Its appreciated.

Playing a 1 rebuy game in local casino, 8k plus 8k in chips.  Villain has commented that I am tightest player he has ever played with, I cant remember him specifically, he remembers me etc.  Talks about going to 400 genting game in Edinburgh etc.  FWIW he seems tighter than me.

In a later hand I 3 bet a different guy with an exact same stack as me with KK, our villain open folds JJ.  original raiser had QQ.

Anyway blinds are 300/600 I have 16k he has 14k.

I limp in early position with  ,

A couple more limpers

he raises on the button to 1300

1 more caller including me.

Pot is approx 6k

Flop comes

I bet 2k.

Everyone folds.

He says 'tighest player' stuff again.  I show him my hand.  He says I played the hand wrong and if I check to him I would have doubled up.  Claims to have a 9.

I first to act v 2 players who have represented decent starting hands.  What if they check behind?  I am giving away free cards?

13  Poker Forums / Poker Hand Analysis / Re: AQ spot on: May 20, 2012, 06:18:42 PM
I folded.  But cursed myself for not shoving or continuing in the hand.  Just felt I was behind.

He just muttered.good fold, good fold as usual.

I raised because I wanted to let him know I had a hand and was prepared to continue.  Then folded ffs.

Next time I check raise on the flop.

Thanks,

Playing in a 36 man live tourney.  24k starting stack for most.  20k for others dependant on entry time. 20 min blinds.

I am 35, recreational casino player, play 2 or 3 times a month live.

Villain is early twenties solid player.  Not seen him make any mistakes although every hand is a major decision for him.

Early in tourney I flop a set against his top pair and he pays me off.  He gets moved but we meet again when down to 2 tables.

A few hands before this hand I double up after 4 betting all in with Aces and getting called by Kings.  I havent played many if any other hands in the previous hour or so.

He has won a few pots showing down good hands, and won a few without showdown.

Blinds are now 1k/2k 18 players left.  I have around 40k he has around 70k.

He raises to 6k from the hijack.

I call in the BB with

No other callers Pot is now 13k

Flop comes

I bet 6k

He raises to 15k

Me?

My thoughts are this, I dont normally play this hand to fold when I hit my ace and have a decent kicker.  Tonight the standard of player has been better than my local casino with fewer players.

By my image he knows the minimum I have here is a good ace.

I also think if I call or raise I am becoming committed to a hand that could be miles behind.
