751  Poker Forums / The Rail / chipleader - how was it for you??? on: June 18, 2012, 04:30:11 PM
i enjoyed it, some good play all round and everyone seemed friendly. I didn't make the money but well done to those that did. I heard others saying there could be plans for another one with a few tweaks to it. The one adjustment i would probably like would be a 30 min clock on day 1 and 40 on day 2 and if it gets played for 11-12 hours on day 1 perhaps start earlier...but that's just me (i am no night owl)...the whole experience seemed a success.

As it is impossible to match faces with online names it would be nice to see the starting stacks of the 18 cashes not necessarily in the order they finished if they wanted to stay anon.

How did everyone else find it?

Haven't heard much of the online chip daddy Paul Brown? Still a big stack?

Well yesterday he literally didnt play a hand for about 5 levels, then when he did he would limp in and check call. That's not a criticism of his play by the way, merely an observation. I think he didngt want  to dent his stack too much and just cruise through to today.

He took a couple of hits but is still patiently waitiing for premium hands.

To get so many chips online I'm having to assume he must have been running like God in the weeks previous online qualifiers, or there is the possibility admin messed up and sent the qualifiying email to Paul in error?!

He just isn't getting involved now. I spoke to him earlier when Tan Lee was chip leader and Paul said it was irrelevant at this stage who had all the chips, as long as he had them all in the last hand...

I actually think this is where his investment is working against him. He has to make final table to recoup the money he spent he needs prob 5th at least to pay off the effort.

So maybe he is playing a bit scared (wierd thought process I know).

to be fair i had him on my table and he seemed extremely pleasant, he made it quite clear he enjoyed playing online and trying to build his stack up and was trying a few lives again these days.He was happy to chat away and although he never said as much i got the impression money was not necessarily an issue for him he was just doing something he enjoyed.

good luck to him

should be interesting to see how it pans out...yesterday 2/3rds of the players entered were below the average stack so i am expecting a lot of the small stacks being prepared to shove quite early on.
you have got a tidy stack oldgit but D21 seems to have been on a mission...good luck to all players except if you are in a hand with me.

came across this on the dtd website during a 'bored' moment...i take it this no longer applies looking at all the current tourny entry fees

Tournament Fees

From 16th April 2012 all Dusk Till Dawn tournaments buy-ins are inclusive of registration fees which are a minimum of £5 or 10%

For example:

A £40 tournament will include a £5 registration fee (£5 minimum)

A £100 tournament will include a £10 registration fee (10% of the £100)

The spreadsheet has the scores of the individual players, can't remember which worksheet it is though.

found it thanks ... i never realised all the info was on the league table spreadsheet at the bottom

assuming you are looking at different ways to attract more runners in the online sats there is a good survivor tourny that sky do that was very popular when it first launched.

based on a 5 nights in a row turbo format 1st night could cost 10 euro and half the field go through to the next night, each night also has the option to buy in separately but it means you could start monday with 10 euro and with half the field going through every night by the 5th night the survivors would have a 320 euro entry which could lead in to a once monthly final.

just an example of where 50% go through each night leading to a higher buy in tourny and it would most likely appeal to a lot of lower stakes players who perhaps wouldn't play the 1 in 5 then 1 in 10 formats we usually see.

just throwing one out there as they say  thumbs up

It's different online as min cash is usually 4-6 times the buy in.

It certainly isn't on stars.

I am not sure what you are getting at in the rest of the post tbh.

in a nutshell my view was i don't mind having rebuys but i can't see the benefit when min cash wouldn't cover the 2 entry costs...the chances of getting in to a profit regularly if you rebuy regularly are very slim.
761  Poker Forums / The Rail / Re: Poll: Your views required please on Re-entry tournaments on: June 12, 2012, 08:14:48 PM
i don't see a problem with re-entries but i have never really seen them as making financial sense.
using the last £500  deepstack as an example

308 entries...if you are prepared to throw a rebuy in then you are prepared to spend £1000 which means min cash wont even give you a profit. we all aim to win but only 1 player will ever win a tournament.
so effectively in this tournament if you are spending £1000 to play you are looking for at least double that as a return minimum which would have been 13th place...14th-27th although in the money is only returning part of your buy in or a bit of froth...so you need to beat 96% of the field to get a half decent profit.

It's different online as min cash is usually 4-6 times the buy in.

so for me i can't see any benefit in live poker with the current payout levels but can online,  if players are willing to throw extra money in to the pot then that's up to them...it beefs the total prizepool up which otherwise wouldn't be so high.

parker

this is a true hand i played online (fulltilt i think)...before i closed my account a few weeks later.
i got  AA

flop  AKK

i continuation bet and the chat box comes up with "ul"

he goes all in with (wait for it)

 44

turn    4

river   4

true hand...complete chat bluff and pure luck i don't know but when i sharkscoped the player he had a chart like going up a mountain and i have never seen that before on any player.

everyone will say it was pure luck as he could never know what was coming but i know f@#k all about computers and what you can do with them...it naturally makes you sceptical though.
763  Poker Forums / The Rail / Bounty Hunter on: June 10, 2012, 09:38:27 PM
being relatively new to live poker i wondered what players thoughts were on bounty hunters as you don't seem to see them in casinos...for exaqmple if DTD were to change the £150 deep stack in to a £100 + £50 bounty hunter for a one off trial or is it a big no no with live players?

they seem good online as even those who don't reach the cash have a chance to receive some kind of return...what are the general thoughts from the more experienced players?
764  Poker Forums / past blonde Bashes / Re: Thank you on: June 10, 2012, 08:39:28 PM
only my 4th live tourny playing the blonde bash and by far the most enjoyable...good to play where most people seemed relaxed, even the hooded shaded lad on my first table had to crack a smile when i bluffed him all in with  two spades and showed the table. Being a newbie i wondered what the general feeling on bounty hunters was...say the 150 being a 100+50 bounty hunter as a 1 off...it could be good for newer players who want the experience yet have the chance to grab a little bit back along the way?Huh? thoughts?Huh?

It goes to show that any tournament experience depends on your table and if they were all like this one then you wont go far wrong.

well done to all those involved.
