So there i was, heads-up at the end of a STT on Interpoker, won the first hand against my opponent when they decide to "sit-out".

So the rest of the heads-up consisted of blinds being posted and folded to me, all i had to do was just sit there agog as my chipstack swelled till i won.

Anyone else encountered this aberrant behaviour while playing online??

I suppose it is possible, but my opponent "sitting-out" was a little disconcerting to say the least.

Would like to have played it out.

I wouldn't worry about it. To be honest I take full advantage when this happens, I'm on the recieving end occaisonally and I wouldn't expect my opponent to wait. Click the raise button as fast as you can.

Bite, bite.

It's a personal decision. I like to draw an analagy with cricket.

Some batsmen (fewer and fewer) will walk without reference to the umpire when they know they are out fairly. Most will wait to see if the umpire gives them out. The reasoning is that the times they should have been given out are balanced by the times they are given out in error.

Once upon a time I was a walker. Then the real world caught up with me. I'm not saying that I would take advantage in every situation, there are definately some situations in which I would wait. Most times, however, I will run thru' their blinds as fast as the software lets me.

When you play internet poker you accept that disconnects may happen and that this might cost you money. If my broadband provider fails me then I fully expect my opponent to attack mercilessly as I will them.

Am I wrong? Is this cheating? I don't think so, but I am sure some will disagree.

Thanks for the link Pokerron, don't get me wrong, i did not mind winning the STT by my opponent "sitting out" per se, i just look forward to playing till the end.

But it certainly seems to be a topic that divides peoples views, and in all fairness, if i had any connection problems myself i do expect my adversary to take full advantage.

Was just the first time i had personally experienced this.

Thanks Pokerron, I missed that debate. I'm a bit dissappointed that there was such an interesting discussion on my birthday, when I was in no fit state to contribute!

This kind of decision depends a lot on personal circumstances.  I say I would wait - but that attitude hasn't really been tested as I've never been in a situation where it made a lot of difference.  If I was playing for a living, on a bad run and the difference was 10k........

The larger the difference and the more important the event, the more inclined I would be to wait...
