My exit hand from $5k gtd on tribeca this evening.  Haven't got a clue if I played it ok/appalingly or somewhere in-between.

I was all ready to auto fold pre-flop, but when everyone limped round to me I thought I'd take a look. Same story post flop.

By the time the guy in seat 3 went all in after the turn it was a tough decision for me to call or fold given my remaining chip stack and the pot size.  I hadn't put him on an overpair as there had been no pre or post flop raise, and though he was more likely trying to steal.

Would be interested to hear any comments on/criticisms of my play here.

well u know 23 is a bad starting hand

too many limpers before you claire...at least one you would think is slowplaying something

even if after calling you would be looking for a str8  or trips to continue

which never happened

your stack was low,,fair enough....all in or fold was the answer preflop...

Calling 1200 (over 10% of your stack) P/F with 23os even if you're getting 5/1 on your money is not a wise move. Calling the flop bet is again not a wise move and the all in call on the turn is suicidal.

Other than that Claw, it wasn't that bad-a-play. Wink

A bad hand to get involved in in the first place but I think if you are going to play a hand like that you want limpers to make it worthwhile, but when you only hit bottom pair and someone moves all you have to fold.  If you're lucky enough to hit two pair then call but otherwise you have to let go.

to be honest i think it is bad play, with that many limpers you have to be flopping a str8 minimum to be happy. Even though you are on the button and there is money in the pot, you are still not gauranteed to see a flop if one of the blinds get fresh or pick up a hand.
With your position you still have id say at least 2 orbits before you really have to commit, if you were going to play the hand i much rather push all-in to try and pick up the limpers money, however probably not with 23os. I think the guy pushed thinking, well if u hit your trips then so be it, i bet he was a little surprised when he saw your hand.
My advice (for what its worth) would be avoid hands like this as even though it may be cheap before the flop it often causes a serious dent in the old stack. gl

That would have been a far better play than calling, then stacking off on the turn!
