Should I have taken a flop here?

Prior to this hand KillerKate was going all in every hand like a lunatic. She'd just gone from $850 down to $12 then back up to $50, all through pre flop all ins. Nicu was after her chips in every pot. I am "paired up". I havent played a hand at this table for 20 mins.

If I had taken a flop here I would almost certainly have won the pot. Should I have flat called pre flop and protected my stack from an ace or should I have protected my hand by reraising like I did?

I think it depends on how loose your table is, but because KillerKate is playing any junk, you could argue that other people are going to call with weaker hands like nicu did. Protecting your hand is fine here, nicu is not getting great odds, so it's unlucky he rivers an ace. Perfectly well played.

It's important to point out you'd have still lost $50 if you only call, as nicu would fold after the flop, therefore you made the correct play. Though just to mix it up sometimes, I would advise a call every now and then and not a raise.

Good point. But I would have ONLY lost $50.

Dont get me wrong in a tourney it's going in, but I think maybe I sould have flat called here and taken a flop. Especially suspecting Nicu is weak.

but if your playing to maximise your winnings then you need to raise to isolate

Again a good point. To truly maximise though dont I want Nicu in the pot? More often than not I will win against him and if he catches a 10 high flop I take his entire stack.

I think that if you're going to double your cash, getting it in with a hand that is 70% vs an ace is pretty good and I'd take it everytime.

I would say lump some more money on the table...there seems to be alot of dead money there..
