I've never done it but why is it considered such bad form to take a long dwell before raising with the nuts?

No problem in dwelling before raising, the bad form is to dwell before CALLING an all in with the nuts.

Anyone remember Trumper v Greenstein where trumper dwelled for 5 mins before raising all in with the nuts and greenstein threw a proper wobbler. I've seen it elsewhere and people going mad. I just don't see why it's a problem.

Trumper dwelled for a call, and got the call.

End of story as far as I'm concerned, Greenstein's tantrum was pathetic.

I think that he was more upset that Trumper slowrolled when showing his cards

Of course not.
