A friend asks you to play soft or dump chips, how do you handle it and why?

I can tell you that I would have a shit fit, I would not be a happy guy. I ahve played w/ DC many times (even a final table, just ask him how lucky I was) and I would never stand for it! Hell I check raised him on the river 2 times w/ the nuts in a WSOP event.

Explain it's a no-no in firm tones, in a manner that would make it clear you mustn't be aked that again, then re-evaluate your friendship.

He'd not be a friend any longer Brian, simple as that.

Though, on reflection, maybe you were soft playing when you put down TT against my J-4? No need fella, no need. I'm 2 from 2 against you.

I play HARDER against mates. It's bragging rights, see?

I would just make a sceen.

 WTF is that mate

Don't start that shit at MY table. Just make it known to the player you ain't having any of that shit at your table. I would be giving him shit the rest of the game..

Don't know if it would stop them later, but it would on this night..

OFF SUBJECT  What's the rule in the UK about talking about your hand while it's in progress, with you still in the pot?

I was playing a couple of weeks ago at this undergroung poker room. there was 2 player's in the pot. both player's had bet the flop and now on the turn Player in seat 2 bet's heavy and smile's player in seat 6 sitting there looking at him and thinking say's "you hit the 2 pair"..and matey in seat 2 say's no " I hit my set " well as player in seat 6 goes to muck his hand the dealer says are you folding sir, he says yes, the dealer then say please hold your cards, and tells the player in seat 2 to turn over his card's, he protests but the dealer says you said you have a set now we need to see it, he protests again saying "he's folded it's my pot"  the dealer said if you announce you have a hand you had better have it. player in seat 2 mucked his cards and the dealer gave the pot to the other guy.

Is this how it is back home?

I've certainly played in games where players can moody each other, but there is a rule that you're not allowed to lie about your hand - if you say you've got a particular hand/card, you'd better have it - so it's not unheard of.

At the showdown yes, you must show your cards........but during a hand you are not allowed to talk about your hand

I was playing with an american the other day and moodys were allowed at the table.  he thought it was very funny that after a bet on the river the other player would ask something like "have you hit your flush?" and if the player said yes there would be a dwell up and then the other player would fold.  He thought we were being very polite!!

No showing of cards in that game though........hmmmmm
