Having had to miss some of the Bellagio events for a trip back to the UK, I couldn’t wait to play poker on my return. Well…..I have just spent 14 hours playing cash games and then sng’s. This was by far the most time I have spent playing poker (when not in a tournament), for many years. And I must say, I forgot how much I actually liked playing the game. I shall therefore look forward to the $5K event in the morning. And since some of you just cant get enough or any report, I have decided to stay alert during the game and try to write about anything interesting. But herein lies the problem. What if I promise to post a report, and I bust out before I get to take any notes?.

Will this force me to play tight? I guess it could well do. But is that good or bad? If I play tight, then 10K in chips will give me plenty of time. But then again, with 10K in chips; I could have a lot of fun during the first couple of levels. You know what? I have just worked it out.

If I look at this logically, the fact that I am posting my intentions; suggests that I am looking for some sort of extra inspiration. And perhaps also, an extra reason to choose the safety-first approach? I guess therefore, I shall be playing tight after all! But then again, if I busted early; I should just take it on the chin and post the shortest report ever. LOL, I just can’t make my mind up!

I know! If any of you guys want to bother, why don’t you give me direction? What would you prefer? Play tight (but still aggressive to some extend), or play “funny poker” and mix it up as much as possible? How would you play it?

Hey…..this could start a trend. Instead of “Ask the Pro” - lets have the “Pro Asks”!

Seriously though, wouldn’t it be fun for a pro to play a style chosen by forum readers? I guess if this works to some degree, we could take a vote for the main event? But I guess with 50K in chips to start with in that one, a player should have enough time to play a little bit of every style! Unless of course…….

Anyway, it‘s now gone 2.am and bed awaits.

Just play it the Costa way Pete, & tell us how your thinking developed & changed as the Tourney progresses.

If i make a suggestion on how you should approach the tournament and you take some of my ideas on board when devising your tournament strategy and then go on to cash in the event - do i get a percentage of the winnings?  Smiley

the time I could offer you any advice about how to play a tournament and go deep is the time you should consider a different career. I was contracted to do a diary of last years wsop events that I played and was meant to write x words per event. In the 7 events I played I never made a dinner break so you can imagine how short I fell of the x words per event lol. If you play too tight it wont be that interesting to read about (unless you go real deep) so as Tikay says just do it the costa way.

Just play blind and call the flop cards before they're dealt like you usually do Pete...... Roll Eyes

Truth is you never know exactly how you'll play till you find the mood you have when you sit down, and more importantly the opposition.

Play it by ear, play your game, thats what we want to hear about.

Good luck

Get really drunk and play blind half the time, looking at only one hole card the rest of the time. Be really abusive to the other players and dealer, and holla every time you take a pot down. "Yeeehah!! That's how you play poker!!" etc.
