Cont-Alt-Delete.
Select file tab, then New Task (run) Select browse - choose VundoFix.exe (or what ever it was called)and run the program

Of course not.

failing that if you can just tell me how to get it out of safe mode that would be great. I may have to reconsider NOD32 if I cant get it sorted.

It isn't NOD32 mate, that has merely spotted a trojan that norton missed.

Have now managed to run the symantec program in safe mode, but it is not detecting the virus that nod32 says is still present but won't remove.

Threat-Win32/Adware.Virtumonde.L application

Yes it just wouldn't shift. I have now managed to get rid of it but I had to download and pay for another antivirus package (spyware doctor), this also picked up and shifted an few other viruses that NOD32 missed aswell.

Spyware isn't the same as a virus...

Norton missed them all too - and that's meant to find spyware!

im such an idiot, as soon as you say you have fixed it i remeber a site you should have gone to but its only for spyware not viruses. Should go to hijackthis.com and run a full system scan if you think you have malware/spyware embedded. At least you can bookmark it for next time lol.

Norton is famous for being difficult to get rid of, there was a whole side industry at one time selling products to remove the crap they put on your computer.
I have seen articles that say norton can slow your computer down by as much as 30%, i myself cut the bootup time on an old computer of mine by 8 minutes!!!!
Anyway there are some tools for removing Norton please read all the documentation before trying this or any other third party application because i don't know if it applies directly to your product.
