So I have recently sent letters to 20 friends asking for their Desert Island Disc's and thought I would compile a CD or two and send them out for Christmas.  I had considerred doing something similar on Blonde and then . . .

The Lyrics thread almost got there

2 cracking posts robert, both at the top end of my playlist.

What i was thinking of, maybe 40 blondes could post the lyrics to their favourite song and we could do a blonde cd, with the proceeds going to charity, say $10 per cd into someones stars account, then the person would use blank cd's to copy the cds and send them in the post.

$10 for the cd but how much for the copyright defence action fund? Nice idea though.

So the Lawyer rules not a good idea to mail out the CD but I guess we could still list the Blonde Desert Island Disc's

Ideas a plenty at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/factual/desertislanddiscs_20051030.shtml

For those of you not familiar it is 8 tunes or pieces of audio these days, 1 record, 1 luxury and 1 book.

I went for

1 - Communication Breakdown - Led Zep
I could of chosen all 8 from Zep, but the original will always be my favourite and this my fav tune from the first album

2 - Hung My Head - Johnny Cash
Made me realise that great lyrics, needed great delivery, a stunning version.

3 - Brown Paper Bag - Roni Size and Represent
Of a time, of a moment - Alexandra Palace, Hackney Marshes some dive club in Bristol, Sanctuary and many more moments.

4 - Your Love - Prodigy
Classic tucked away on the 12 inch B Side of Charley.

5 - Chop Suey - System Of The Down
Probably the most political band I have ever been 'in too', great song, so much more then shouting Smiley

6 - The Dark Is Rising - Mercury Rev
After death there is life R.I.P Sam

7 - Neighbourhood #1 Tunnels - Arcade Fire
As close to perfection as you can get.

8 - I Wanna Be Adored - Stone Roses
Genius nuff said.

Record - Portishead NYC with New York Philharmonic
Beautiful, Portishead for happy times . . . almost.

Book - Raymond Feist Magician (Complete works if available)
It spawned so much.

Luxury - Seeds
Gardening is therapeutic Smiley

Great idea for a thread. I've been a DID fan for donkeys years, right back to the Roy Plomley days. Roy did DID (oops) for 43 years!

I'll have to think about my answers though.
