My connection is now dying every half an hour.
I can reconnect if I reboot the router.
Any ideas?
I'm dreading the call to India, but this is silly now.

I also get the same thing which drives me mad. I am tempted to go out and buy a new router to see if that is the problem since the power down/turn on gets me back on again which leads me to suspect a router problem. If India is helpful please post what they say.

A new router has worked for some people I know who had problems after upgrading to the DSLMax thing - ideally you want to borrow one, or buy from somewhere that would allow you to return it, as it could be many other things.
I had a problem where the connection would keep cutting out from around 5pm until about 11pm, several engineers visited and couldn't fix it - consensus of opinion was that someone within a few miles had bought a new TV!
Eventually we got the "Special Faults Team" to come out, with some fancy line analysers (not the standard ones the engineers carry) and after many more attempts at fixing it they swapped the line... it works now.

My contract with BT Broadband expired, I renewed it and they sent me their new wireless hub which duly replaced my old router and the disconnects have disappeared. Hopefully this will be the norm.

My PC has been going a bit slow for a while now but about a week ago my son started complaining his was going slow too (he has a much better PC than mine and has been designed for gaming). 2 days ago he could not log into the site he plays on at all and insisted it was a BT problem. So today I phone up the techies on BT, they checked the line, that was ok. I did a speed check and it came up 750ish which the guy said is good as I should getting around 512 (all of this means nothing to me btw). He said there was nothing I could do to speed it up and suggested I try changing the filters. He also gave me the number for sales and suggested I upgrade my package which would only cost a few pounds extra.
I phoned up sales and explained what the techie guy said, telling him the result of the speed test and he said you should be getting 2k so you are getting less than half what you should, this guy said there is no way to improve my connection unless I moved closer to my exchange, "Move the router you mean" I said. "No, move house" he said...very helpful !! I explained that up until a few days ago it was working fine and he suggested I upgrade my package which would make my connection faster
OK, do that then I said. It will cost £9 extra for the first 6 months then £18 after that...gulp!!! Hold on let me see if your router is compatible....No it isnt...you will need a new router at a special price of £25.
Why do I have this nagging feeling that I have been done like a kipper !! Do I really need this if it was working perfect for my son up until a few days ago?

This does not sound right to me. My renewing resulted in a decrease in the monthly fee and the wireless hub thrown in for nothing. Check out the BT website and see what they are offering customers and ask them to match it for you.

I have to be honest BT have been the best provider I have had out of 4.
It depends what package you are on if you are getting over charged, IMO I cant see this happening £9 to upgrade to a higher speed does sound about ok, but dont pay for a router (if you need a wireless BT) i have a spare one, so dont pay £25.

I have been with BT for years and never had a problem with my broadband till now. I have just been checking out the website and it looks like for the same price I can get a home hub for free so I will be ringing them in the morning.
I already have a router Jizz which I bought off BT for £200 many moons ago
It was top of the range back then but aparently its not up to the job now
I will keep your offer in mind tho if i do need one.
