£50 live freezeout last night, c.60 runners, 1st pays c.£900 down to 9th paying £70.

Background - I won the same tourney last week and was keen to try and win again as opposed to limp in to the money and be FT shortstack - good or bad thought process?

My stack 35500. average c.90000 and blinds 5k/10k

I am shortstack on my table with 2 tables of 5 left. Big CL to my left in SB who has not bullied table at all or made any marginal calls since I have been at table and a fairly tight player in BB who cannot afford to make a marginal call and lose, however there are 2 shortstacks on other table (so i heard but not sure how short). Not long before I had pushed 3 hands on trot and taken downs the blinds twice, called the third time by JJ which my A5s obv. crushed with a flush so am probably seen as pushing fairly liberally

Anyway passed round to me on button with J4o - Push or fold??

Ideal spot to push imo - on the bubble - and tight players in the blind. Although very low on chips and fold equity therefore much eroded, I would probably push here because you are desperate for chips and the BB is coming again soon. If both fold great - increased your stack by 50%. If somebody calls you could still be as good as 35% - 40% chance to double up.

2 factors would affect my decision here which have not been mentioned - Exactly how many chips does the BB have ? and although tight does he seem a good player. A good player on the BB will ignore the bubble and almost call here with any 2 reasonable cards as they will have 2 -1 to call.

On your earlier question imo always to play to win in the normal payout structure tourney. Better to risk going out and have a chance of finishing in top 2-3 pos than be blinded out in lower spots of final table.

But, the larger stacks are aware of your need to push and  could open their calling range to adjust for that.  I wouldn't like to get caught shoving with J4o which is so easily beaten, I'd like two cards that have something in common together, or at least a K or A high.

There isn't really a right or wrong here and it's just down to personal opinion really. If you are going to play the hand though I would raise to 25k or such like. I think the WTF nature of the bet will tighten the bb's playing range. From his perspective he can't play unless he thinks he's stronger than you, and how can he think that when your bet looks much stronger than the standard all-in.

At least when you got caught shoving you kind of had a hand and not total junk...

I shove some of the time and pass the rest...

People might take note that you passed up on opportunity to shove button when folded round to you, might give you more fold equity if you got the chance again this round, or in later rounds.

Shove every time....the fact u have jack hi is a bonus.

Shove. Though know that you should never let yourself get this low. It should only happen if you lose a pot and are left with change. You need to be looking for spots to openshove when you get as low as 10BBs.
