Two or three times a minute, my lappy makes a little noise. It sounds a bit  like a camera shutter, or someone pressing a key on an electric typewriter, or, (and this is the real problem) someone betting in to a pot on blondepoker.

I cant find out what it is. I suspect that it's the sound of pop-ups being blocked or some such, but the only ones that I'm aware of are the ones on Firefox and Windows security.  I've tries turning those of to no avail.

OK, you can rush forward with you're solutions as quickly as you like.....

Does it do it even when you've got no applications running? Narrow it down to one particular app? Or is it a mechanical noise rather than something coming out the speakers?

are you sure it's coming from the lappy and not the shutter of a hidden camera? I suggest searching in plants and also checking if someone has left a box lying around where it shouldn't be with a small hole in the side. shoe boxes are very popular for this sort of thing
