Could be all of the things mentioned so far. Could be the fact there have been fewer Scandies playing internationally recently because of exchange rate issues.

Could also just be an example of the Texas sharpshooter fallacy.

There are a load of poker tournaments played. Some people win them. A group of these people happen to be similar/come from a similar place. Not necessarily a trend.

I think the US and British players now play against the Scandies with an optimum line in many respects which is another reason along with the tax one. But yeah, as I say in the post, there's no golden age, just a conveyor belt of very talented players coming from online, country unimportant, who are all maybe within a percentage point or two of each other in terms of talent.

interesting that your thread's about the golden era of 18-25 year old players when we just had our best ever WSOP and yet none of those players who won bracelets would fit into your age bracket. Some guess work here but I think the rough ages of our bracelet five are....Flushy 27, Praz 32, Chufty 37, Steve Jelinek 39, Mike Ellis 45....so where's the golden era?!

And I don't think any of the Hit Squad are young enough to fit into your age bracket...perhaps it's correct to say English poker is on the up and up and the standard and players are better than ever, not sure it's that connected to a new breed of players coming into the game particularly tho.

Who would believe Praz is five years older than Flushy, maybe wearing a cap all the time protects your hair

OP clearly states:

"but look at the number of 19-25+ year olds tearing it up in live biggies for UK Poker"

19-25+ even includes TK.

The "Golden era" must include all 19+ year olds from the UK.

Flushy 27? WTF? He must have had a fair few late nights.

I wasn't thrown-up fifteen years ago. I only started playing more than ten events a year in 2005 and I was busy being seriously ill in 2006.

Young whippasnappers. See how they're doing in five years time.
