Does anyone know what the highest point total for a team that didn`t gain automatic promotion is ?

Also what is the lowest point total a team won auto promotion with ?

Sunderland in 97/98 got a lot of points and finished 3rd in the 2nd flight.

Hull in 06/07 didn't get many and were promoted.

Will go and look for a exact totals.

Guess so.

Longy's right and that other forum is wrong though. Sunderland got 90 points in 97/98 and didn't get auto promotion.

Wycombe from L2 in 08/09 with 78. They could beat it this year; currently in the last automatic spot with 74 points and 2 games to go.

Cheers, doesn't seem real at the moment!

As for Lambert, well I am pretty sure whenever a mid table premiership lets their manager go there will be a lot of nervous ppl in Norfolk. Aston Villa springs to mind at the moment with Houlliers health.

Just hoping that a number of football chairman don't think Lambert is as good as I do!

+1.  Not often I get to agree with Acidmouse on anything football related but these are my sentiments entirely!
