Is it just me that looks forward to winter?

Dark nights, bright, frosty mornings, rainstorms, maybe even snow.

I know it sounds daft, but adverse weather makes me appreciate my comforts all the more. My warm room with it's bright light seems so cozy when the world beyond the window is black and wet and wild, and it seems so empowering to put on my big coat and my sturdy boots and go crunching across frosty fields with the dogs.

All those outside chores that need doing? too late now, they can wait until spring. Put the kettle on Zel. Where's my book?

I love the rain battering outside and the dark fresh evenings.

Getting up in the morning less so though.

When we were young, there was no heating until we lit the fire, we used to tuck ourselves up in bed like mummies. If you accidentally exposed an inch of flesh or allowed some outside air to leak in while you were turning over it was like being stabbed with an icicle.

You had to psyche yourself up to get out of bed in the mornings. Then, screaming in anticipation, you would fling back the bedding and get dressed at lightning speed.

I like winter.  It's great at work when it rains as we have a tin roof.  In the warehouse bit it's often too loud to be in there.  The office part has some other insulation / ceiling to absorb it but it's fun.

The only thing I don't like is leaving home in the dark and getting home in the dark.

The temp here was dropped from a summery 33deg to a brisk 8deg in the space of ten days.

I need a winter coat.

Easier to warm up, than it is to cool down, imo.

Top top: Go to work wear shop. You can buy a great winter coat for about a third of normal shop price.

You can also pretend that De Walt is a designer label.
