Anyone?

I'm really angry tonight, first I flop two pairs Aces and Queens, and make a move all-in on a pot, and a guy calls with KJ with awful pot odds and hits his 10 straight away.

Then I managed to lose an all-in with AK to KJ on the river, (he claims he was only a 60-40 dog).

Finally, I can't even make my AJ all-in hold up versus K,R.

So any idea how to cope? I'm pretty damn angry at the moment that every hand is conspiring against me.

AK v KJ all in preflop you were proberly about 70-30

the straight you were about 80-20

the AJ v Kx about 60-40

i say its a good night when you keep getting chips in ahead like that

so what you lose occasionally but it the long run look at the profit

You're not calling those 3 hands a long run of bad beats are you?

... now when it happens for months and months on the bubble (or similar) now that's a long run. Wink
... now when they hit runner runner now that's a bad beat Wink

I'm guessing you've not been playing much and if you're a student of the game you are going to have to get used to these kind of things without getting angry - it's not an emotion you'll want at the tables.

Tournament poker is very much like tournament golf in that you'll not win an awful lot more than you do (unless you're Annika and play the WPGA tour Grin)

Keep getting it in with the best of it and usually against a shorter stack and you won't go far wrong Smiley

Keep detailed records including time played, buy in/stake, winnings, and type of game.  If, like me, you've had your aces cracked 6 out of 8 times this week you can look at your records and say "although I lost this week I'm still winning overall."  I find this stops me tilting (mostly..ahem).  It is important to be accurate/honest or you will not be able to draw comfort from them when you do have a short run of bad beats.

Cheers.

Play cash games instead! Grin

On a serious note, the hands u talk about are run of the mill. Few days off usually works for me. Alternatively try dropping a level or two if things are really bad.

Seriously it happens. Anything over such as short time frame is just variance, you need to analyase over 100s and 100s of hands if you are on a bad run to see if you are contributing. For example its very easy to play scared and not maximize your opportunites to gather chips

If it's bothering you take a session off, re-read your best poker book whatever, just chill

As ironside says, get your money in when ahead and it will eventually pay off

I was in by my standards a biggie the other week, dealt AA in the BB about two places away from the bubble. I raised an early position raiser, he stuck me all in. Magic i thought

He turns over A9 and feels like a chump, when the community cards come

10,6,6,7,8

I felt completely sick, and as he said sorry I said "nice hand".

but it happens and I know that I did nothing wrong!

neither did you

enjoy the successes when they come!
