Until recently, I was a dreadful cash player. I only played limit. I do well at Sit & Go's. I have now moved to NL cash games and I have to say, my results have improved beyond words. I was making a loss everytime I played Limit. I was just not good enough. Since moving over to No Limit, I am making decent profits now. I echo Juniors thoughts.

I'm not saying that limit poker is necessarily the most enjoyable form of the game.

Just the format where skill is a larger factor, if you are willing to put in the hours.

I play NL cash still just find Limit cash very easy... that or I'm just very lucky (something which has been mentioned previously).  I wouldn't play a Limit tournament though, what a grind that would be.

Hi Karabiner. I used to believe that limit was more skillful than No limit. I am not sure I do now. At least not at levels much below 10/20. Under this people seem to call with absolutley anything. Moving above it, people seem to play the game properly. Unfortunately, most people play below that level.
The skills required to play No Limit are very different to that of Limit.

I know what you mean jbsc.

It is necessary to make some adjustments for low-limit games.

"Low limit holdem" and "Small stakes holdem" examine the subject pretty thoroughly.

surely this is the attraction of milking the low level limit games? a bit like going to the cashpoint once a day and it then not appearing on the statement that follows

ok it can be like watching paint dry, but stick the tv on/ favourite music/surf the net and grind away

I understand your comments TightEnd but from my experience (limited though!), even with AA, it was hard to get paid with it as a raise would be greeted with 80% callers! The bottom line is, I was not good enough to play any level at limit poker.
I am pleased to report I just had another successful session at No Limit though! Perhaps later I will try a bigger limit and see how I fair. It was interesting watching Layne Flack playing $10/$20 in room "Larson" on Full Tilt (now).
