Did anyone see big Sam's interview after the Bolton game today, you could sense the pride in his voice and he still wants the job. He also said he believed it was now a match between him and McClaren.

I hope Sam gets it.

I am a Sheff Utd fan. Dave Bassett used to get loads of stick for buying cheap lower league players and playing a very direct game( all true). He was once asked why he hadnt signed more quality players and play 'passing' 'attractive' football. He replied that he had bid the whole 200k in his transfer budget for Gazza and Shearer and been told to f*** off. You cannot go to war with a pea shooter and I have no concerns that big Sam would use the quality players in the England squad to play a very different style to Bolton.

YES YES YES ... give it to Big Sam, I saw the interview, PASSION PASSION PASSION , he has it in abundance, Dont be so naive to think that he would adopt route one tactics for england ... he has the tactical nous and ability to make england play to their strengths ... and to see an England team play with the aggression and speed of the premiership would be a VERY welcome change for the better IMO.

because he has a job to do at the Emirates Stadium!!!!

in all honesty this is a catastrophe - we let slip the best candidate in Hiddink.  Something is going on with the next best in O@neill which leaves us with mclaren or big sam - which come on is just a poor substitute.

the truth is - i do not have an answer but it is shocking that we are in this position.

Abd as for Big Sam, enough managers have shown that you can play good football on a small budget - just look at curbishley this season.  Big Sam could have adapted but he has shown that he is not interested in the beautiful game time and time again.

sorry Nem - was heads up at the time and not concentrating!!!!  I did not mean Curbishley - he would be a nightmare, too cautious.

What i meant to say is Pardew and West Ham have shown that you can finish in the top half, get in the FA Cup Final and in Europe by playing football and not hoofing it - although I would say that since they have bought Ashton they have gone a bit more rote 1.  However i am not advocating pardew for the job, just showing that it can be done

What i am saying is that bolton do have money - they have decent midfielders in Okocha nolan campo etc but big sam plays right through them - just look at today - every ball was a punt to davies.  Do we really want england playing a game where they hoof it into Crouch.  They are too physical and at-it that works in the hustle and bustle of the prem but not on a world stage.
