Day 1, 11 oh 8 pee emm. Stallyon and Miss Stallyon are in the dining room. Oh c*ap, guess who's been watching way too much Big Brother...
Well, there we were last Sunday evening just after 11pm. The car was laden with clothes. I packed all of my clothes in a small holdall yet somehow we managed to take 2 suitcases, 3 bags and a box of shoes

I'd slept for most of the afternoon as the plan was to drive most of the journey at night time. Bright eyed and bushy tailed (after a large mug of espresso) we set off just before 1am. It wasnt really dark at that time of night and the roads were relatively clear. We didnt meet any cars in the same direction until about 5am and by that time we were half way along the M5. It wasn't until we hit the long laborious A30 that things got slowwwww and boring...roadworks and accidents along the way and our journey is slowed by over an hour. Finally arrived just after 10am, checked in, settled down, ready for a relaxing week. The rest of the day was recuperation from the long drive, a bit of shopping and a slow stroll round the local area (stopping off at a local for pub meal and a few bevvies). Apparently Miss Stallyon had packed me a bluetooth brush. I'd never heard of one before and couldnt connect it to my mobile phone even though it recognised my other bluetooth devices. Found out it was for cleaning my teeth but still couldnt get it to work. IN the end i gave up and used it manually.
The next day the weatherman told us that it would be a reet scorcher so we headed on down to the beach, bathed in the hot sun, swam for a bit and watched as the surfers did their thang. Left the beach a lot redder and went to a cafe and had lobster - no sorry that was our arms hahaha
Wednesday the weather was the same but today we decided to do a bit of sight seeing. In the morning we went to Cornish Gold - a tin and gold mine musuem that had gold, silver, and pearl shops. I picked out an Oyster shell, had it opened and had the pearl inside valued. Cost me £15 and the pearl was valued at £46. Leaving there we headed straight for the Cornish Cyder Farm and had the tour round their workshops. Some umpteen tastings later and the world is looking a better place...hic
Thursday the weatherman did not offer any relief from the burn of the sun. rather than play it cool and stay in doors I opt to don a pair of shorts, loose t-shirt and golfing shoes and go for a long walk around a nearby hilly golf course. By eck, that was knackering. When they say hilly they do mean hilly. 180 yards and you only have to hit it a short distance and let gravity take its course. There was even a fairly short hole where you tee off at the top of a sheer drop down to the green below - 300 yards but its straight down. I know look very funny with one hand slightly browner than the other that evening we go to a restaurant in Newquay called The Newquay Meadery. It was said to have a medieval theme and they did not disappoint. Venison and Wild Boar roast on the menu as well as Mead Liquor (a carafe of that went down very well hic ), candles for lighting and serving wenches with big bosoms and monks singing out modern day classics on CD. The meals were very well prepared and very good value for money.
Friday and its time to make our way home again. Thoroughly enjoyed my week away and was glad to have taken in as much of Newquay and the surrounding areas that I could within a week. Perhaps I should have gone for 2 weeks. Oh well, there's always next year.
