I heard a story ages ago and it could be BS or an urban myth or something, but this bloke reckoned he went to some charity event and they had 2 circles on the floor, you had to pay some money to stand on one of the circles and Nas stood on the other with his hands behind his back and you get one punch.

Apparently nobody managed to hit him all night. Anyone heard of this?

When he had a fight at the SECC in Glasgow, my friend had a ticket. He had been winding me up for ages because he was getting to go to the fight and I wasn't because I had to work that night.

The fight lasted about 2 punches and his seat was miles from the ring.  He said all he could see was two little ants in the distance with thousands of peoples heads in the way  Cheesy.

The bloke that he crippled is still hobbling around on crutches.

I have faith in Karma ....

was barrera such a big boy then?  hamed was 2/7 for that fight,  i remember cos i was on barrera at 9/4 Roll Eyes

As I said, British media hype about "our boy" when he was up against a much superior fighter. Those odds are outrageous.

Once he made his millions he lost his desire and hunger, hence why he never made any attempt to come back from his defeat against Barrera.  He was good box office due to his style but the majority of his wins were against glorified tomato cans fed to him by Frank Warren. As for how good he really was we will never know,  We only have the fight v Barrera to go on as he never fought any other genuine world class opponents in their prime.

I remember the odds were around the 2-1/9-4 mark as I was gonna get on myself. Hamed's mistake was believing his own hype and not working on defending himself. You can stick your chin out when fighting mugs and even against some of the best (depending on their style) but not against true world class. Watching the fight it was clear Barrera could have gone on all night with Naz in his pocket. Hamed just didn't have the style/scope to beat him and getting away from his roots (Ingle) in favour of his looney brothers was a big mistake (memories of Anelka).

The myth of the tiny man they used to say hurt middleweights in sparring was just waiting to be exposed. That said, he gave us some pretty emphatic displays in his time. His post-fight interviews often seemed longer than the fights and I found him pretty damned funny.
