When you have a cash game thats running nice and juicy, then after you bust someone for the umpteenth time he leaves and a maniac takes his place.  No the Table changes completely from a bunch of passive fish to cowering wrecks that are unwilling to see a flop.

Now when I say maniac I mean someone that raises 10x the BB every hand, had called a few all ins and won with complete trash like  Two Diamonds off and the like.

How do you combat this type of player who has just ruined your OTE for this months mortgage payment?

General curiosity as I had one this morning and after i left the table with a healthy stack he started following me ( I busted him a couple of times ), so just as i would get a table sussed he would come along and wreck the table as it gets running the way i like.

This may sound strange I knwo but advice and strategy is appreciated.

Cheers

Now you even have players following you around?

Only joking...

Get up and find a better game.

If he's a complete maniac, I would tend to follow him around, rather than the other way round.

But if you're no comfortable playing against him, your best bet is to sit out on that table, open up another table and play on that.  It's unlikey he's going to try and sit on all the tables you're playing on.  He'll soon get bored / lose his money, and move on.

What are the requirements for a better game that warrant you leaving a table where some guy is stacking off with 2/5? if you are running on a short bankroll, then I guess you can leave and conserve the money, otherwise you should just rock up, open up a couple more tables to stop yourself getting impatient, and then profit. Your earn from this guy alone is typically going to be more then your expected earn from  the rest of the table, especially if (and when) he gets a couple more people joining the party. Its amazing how one person going wild can suddenly send the rest of the table into a gambling frenzy. Learn to embrace the swings, its good fun!

I am running short on bankroll at the moment, I'm in build mode and I've not had a blow out yet, I've managed to double my initial deposit, playing the looooong game, I have about 30 buyin's at this level sostill quite short and i'm trying to mimimise my risk hence once i have a table running myway or that i have control of its a real pain inconvience to have someone come along and bust you for a buyin, or even take a third of your stack.

When I spotted his style I rocked up and stayed away from family pots as he has position on me too.

I never thought about opening another table, one for the future

I agree with much of what Totalise says Billy, if you have some fruit n' nut donking his cash game off then just rock up, bide your time and let him pay you off when you have the goods.

If your still playing on Tribecca I find these occasions quite often, mostly its some scandie who starts it all off.  Sometimes it agitates me because I see it as spoiling a decent game.

I was playing Laddies last night and there was some bum sitting on the o4 table I was playing and not a hand went by when he didn't be the pot pre flop.  I lost count of the number of times I passed, but I had another table going that was really good, and I was enjoying it.  Then bingo agaisnt the the pre-flop raiser.  I get dealt AAKJ double suited I had repotted pre flop knowng he would call, not only does he call he re-pots and I flat call this time.

Flop comes down AKK Cool I got all his pennies.  Clearly he was playing outwith his bank roll he reloaded for a paultry $23.62 on a 0.50c/$1 table

This is when a good player leaves the table. What value is there in a table where players don't calll your bets?

Now when I say maniac I mean someone that raises 10x the BB every hand, had called a few all ins and won with complete trash like  Two Diamonds off and the like.

How can you not love this player. He is doing his best to put your childrren through college!!

Yep, often find this at the low limits NLHE cash.
Take your time and reap the rewards. Often triple/quadruple buyin against these players alone.
Just stick to tight ABC stuff and when you hit big, let them do the do the betting for you. These gambling lags usually do.
