I think it's quite funny.

driving a car since Labour came to power has actually gotten cheaper (9% in Real terms. source Newsnight and nobody (even automobilie lobbyists)  dispute this) so i don't know why car drivers complain soo much.

Also the "On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will
know where you are at all times." yes..because satnav does no such thing. Who do you think invented GPS? (American military for those who don't know) They can already know where you are at all time simply by tracking either your satnav or your phone...so the whole "Big brother is watching you" argument also falls rather flat.

Motorists are a funny bunch.

I don't think GPS isn't accurate enough for road charging, hence the need for a new system.

Sat Navs pick up the signal from the satellites and the unit uses a form of triangulation to figure out where it is, they don't transmit back to space to be tracked... Also who knows who owns which sat nav unit?

Buying cars might be cheaper in real terms but driving them certainly isn't.
I would happily get rid of my car but I do not have any alternative.

Whilst we are on the subject of petitions and cars - here's another you may be interested in:

I do not know where the facts came from, but I'm sure VTS Support will.  http://www.vtssupport.co.uk

IMPORTANT NOTICE!

In the spring the Government will be making a decision on your vehicle being MOT’d every 2 years, instead of the current one year.
If this is passed in the spring, we would like to point out that there will be in the region of 1,800 extra deaths on the road, due to your car not having its annual roadworthy certificate.

The Government will put this forward as saving you the motorist £50.35 for an MOT.

FACT – Your Car Insurance Premium Will Rise By £100 estimated

FACT – 1,800 More Deaths On British Roads.

FACT – Gordon Brown Will Add VAT To Your MOT

Please do not let it be you, or a member of your family, Or Your Child, that Gordon Brown has decided no longer needs a life!

Please Help Us To Help You, And Sign Our Online Petition.

I would love to know how they track your GPS receiver!!!

Mobile phones though are another matter.

Do you really care if someone knows where your car has been? Most major roads are covered by cameras anyway!
