My computer is coming up with what I believe is called the Windows Blue Screen of Death about twice a day now, can anyone help me out? It seems to happen when I'm playing poker with PT and PAHUD running and says; -

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nv4_disp.dll

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed. If this is a new installation, ask your hardware of software manufacturer for any windows updates you might need.
If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software.
Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove  or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 select Advanced Startup Options, and then select safe mode.

Technical Information:

*** STOP : 0x00000050 (0xBCE 05000, 0x00000000, 0xBF046c23, 0,00000000)

*** nv4_disp,dll  -  Address BF046c23 base at BF012000, Datestamp 45bdc 7a

When I start the computer up again it gets me to send an error report to MS and then comes up with a web page telling me how to uninstall drivers and programs.

I have uninstalled my videocard drivers and downloaded various different ones and it's still the same. I have a Dell computer, NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE video card, Windows XP. I've googled and it seems like loads of people have this problem but nobody really knows how to fix it. I'm guessing maybe I need to do stuff like reinstalling windows and reformatting hard drives which I have never done before. Apparently because I had a demo version of Norton Ghost installed by the factory that I can hit F11 while I'm starting the computer and that restores it to how it was when it left the factory.

I'm thinking maybe if I buy a new videocard that isn't made by bloody NVIDIA the problem might go away? I tried having no video drivers at all but I couldn't get 1600/1200 resolution.

Anyone got any ideas?

The physical memory dump usually means it is a problem with ur computers RAM, u sure it's the card? in which case the only solution is to buy a new stick. If you have more than one stick in it at the moment, you can try taking one out and running it with the other in to see which one has gone. Probably best to give it to a computer person tho Tongue.

You can use memtest to check for RAM errors:

I'd try updating your graphics drivers first byron.

Memory dump / RAM problem is a red herring.

It's all about the graphics problem causing the crash and therefore memory dump.

Install the latest graphics drivers. If you still have the problem try some older ones! Or you could do windows update and see what drivers that installs, they might be stable Smiley
Maybe try a system restore.
If you have nothing to lose (file wise) then a format and reinstall should do the trick.

Are you not connected to the internet  ?
You have to be online to download obviously, but you could download on another PC and copy it to CD or USB flash drive. Usually you get a CD-ROM with drivers on with your GFX card but they won't be the latest drivers.
