I'd never played the villain before but whenever I'd seen him on the 1/2 HU tables he was always up a couple of buy-ins. After about 10 - 15 minutes of playing, it became apparent that he was raising around 90% of pots in position and around 60% - 70% when OOP. On any street, it was incredibly rare he'd do anything apart from check or pot-bet and if he'd raised the pot, he'd pot bet 90% of the time. If ever I check/raised, he'd still call most of the time and if I'd shown any sort of aggression pf or on the flop but then checked the turn, it was guaranteed he'd pot the river whatever it was.
What I'd like to know is, how do you play against guys who are this aggressive and who will bet any and every scare card that comes? Is it a simple case of finding a hand and going with it? Or should you meet aggression with aggression? Or simply play passive until you find your spot?
These are all very marginal calls on the river, but against this sort of loose opponent are they all correct? Should I just accept that I have to make these sorts of calls against this type of player, or is there a better way to play the hands? Incidentally, in the last hand I tried to force him to play a re-raised pot OOP to see if he would slow down, but that didn't seem to stop him.
All thoughts/ideas welcome.
