playing mid level cash, full stacks

A tight player on a tight table makes it 3.5x the bb in third position

Looking down at  in mid position, you make it 10x bb

the raiser flat calls

on a raggy rainbow flop early position checks the Queens bet 3/4 of the flop, check raised to half the stack

with the Queens you can shove, flat call and most likely have to put the rest in down the line, or pass.

most often in this spot you have to pass. agree or disagree?

He wouldnt risk checking for the check raise with Jacks or under.

Have to give him credit for AA-KK here as the way he has played the hand.

Im laying down the QQ.

He could have KK...  Why would he just call the 10xb re-raise with AA?

I wondered that. Maybe because he knows my re-raising range is v narrow and I'll lead out a chunky amount on most flops and maybe he'll get me committed?

sure, I suppose its the risk reward thing..you accept that risk to try to get the re-raiser committed

As it happens he did have AA, proudly showed when I passed to the c/r having done 35 or so big blinds!

you are thinking about it the wrong way, you increase your risk, but you increase your reward. Tightwads that have narrow ranges here are often very quick to fold if they get 4bet, so if you have AA/KK, you risk winning merely their re-raise. Flat calling here and getting more money out of people with tight ranges is a pretty good play, when it comes down on blank flops like this, because you have a really good idea what they have (ie, a tight range) and they dont have as good an idea what you have, dependant on your own image. IF you think he can have KK, then the reasons why he can have KK are mainly the same reasons he can have AA

Tightend,

try widened your 3bet range! if you dont only have JJ/QQ/KK/AA and sometimes a daring AK,  here it makes it a lot more likely that they will be willing to stack off with weaker hands, and if they still aren't willing to stack off with weaker hands, it lets you pick up a lot of pots on the come.

The you're never going to maximise your return!

No point playing scared poker, he is giving you the perfect chance to show weakness with the best starting hand and disguise it fully. Looks much more like you are calling with AK suited or the likes.

There are factors that can weigh this towards getting it in on the flop or passing on the flop.

But yes you have the right idea, villain is probably smart and is trying to get you to commit your stack with a mediocre hand.
