Just wanted some thoughts on this hand

£250 buy in at Maybury, 7.5k starting stack, 30 min blinds, 94 players sarted, We are on level  3 with blinds at 100/200 about halfway through the level, next level is 200/400

9 handed table, I have around 8.5k, had been fairly quiet but more active this level.  Im in the cutoff, folded to the guy on my right who limps, he has been raising his good hands and limping his marginal hands so I raise to 650 with AhJd.  The button, who is also my friend and who I would rate as a good player (He mainly plays $2/4, $5/10 online) calls, everyone else, including the limper folds.  Button has about 14k behind after calling the raise

Since we know each other quite well I put his range on AJ+, maybe AT, maybe KQ/KJ and any pair lower than JJ, I really dont think he has some sort of suited connector or air in this spot.

Flop is AQ8 with 2 clubs, I bet 1300 into the 1800 pot, he calls.  Turn is a 5 of spades bringing a 2nd spade on the board, I bet 2200 and he jams, I fold.

He told me later he had AK

Does anyone have any advice on how I couldve played this hand better, I think I lost too many chips in the hand.

Should I have c-bet smaller on the flop?  Should I have shut down on the turn since Im out of position and have been called once already?  If he flat calls the turn, what should I do on the river (apart from hate life)?

Check the flop.
And then what? Are we check/calling? Check/Raising? Check/Folding?

Bet the flop imo, u get value from the first street way more often (when bet size is smaller) as ppl expect u to cbet this board w 90%+ of ur range and call with second pair/draws/gutterballs etc. On the turn i hate the bet (v this guy, obv standard if player is bad/loose/donk) as you must fold if raised and  the hands you are getting value from are a small part of his range (dont know board but poss clubbing KQ and thats it).

Honestly i think bet flop check turn or check flop bet turn to open up his range (as president palmer undoubtedly thinks), personally i cannot check this flop, it doesnt compute w my brain. V standard good solid player then check turn for pot control....... On turn he will check behind all marginal hands (A10 is all ur beating) and take free cards w draws prolly, giving u more info, until he knows u know this, exploit.

The board has you beat imo, unless you think he is playing poker in which case u can cr jam or check call check call and leave him crying.
