If you chastise the protests against the financial institutions because the protesters are costing the government and the people of this country money you would be enjoying a ride on a helterskelter in dreamworld. ...

I don't understand what you mean.

in what way?

Errr, the banks are costing the country billions. The protesters broke a few windows and stuff.

I was in my local RBS branch the other day when I saw a RBS piggy bank on the counter with some smug poster about watching the pennies. Man, I coulda picked that pig up and smashed it on the floor. I didn't. But I coulda.

wow are you that skint??

You not seen his PHA posts?

I disagree Jon. I would say the sum total of the protesters net worth to society>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Sir Fred Goodwin alone.

You are joking arent u?
Please?

Your saying that a bunch of worthless fools are worth more to society than a man who successfully ran a huge business for 8 years?

Given that the main point of a protest is to raise awareness and get media exposure, as the protestor:mediaman ratio seems to be about 1:10, that would suggest that these protestors are far from worthless, and are actually very efficient at what they do. They didn't even have to set themselves on fire.

The main point was to protest against the banks, or the war, or the environment - all three answers were given by different protestors : what were they raising awareness of?

The RBS under Fred Goodwin sought £12billion from shareholders in last year's rights issue. They encouraged thousands of regular people to invest in the bank by buying shares at £2 each. They provided all the figures to convince people the investment was solid...and they did this just before the bank lurched into crisis. That's a pretty big offence vs society in my mind. If you defraud thousands of people out of their savings then I figure you commit a bigger offence against society vs bricking a window. People auto-believe the protesters are the villains. But I don't know who those dudes are, there could be doctors/nurses in that group? Who knows? What we do know is Fred Goodwin has little to protest about....considering the hugeness of his £8.4m pension.

Anyway, we don't agree who the worthless fools are. That's ok. But the fact the guy left in humiliation after a £15billion government bail out...that saw the bank's value plummet from £75billion to £4billion...suggests at best the dude was a real spaz-tard of a businessman.

Was it really his fault or just bad timing?
Was he aloud solely to decide they were buying ABN Amro?
If you were to work as a driver and delivered a package to the wrong person would you expect to lose your pension?
Could a 'real spaz-tard' get himself into that position in the first place?

I would be interested to know how many of the protestors have ever created a job for someone else.

Some of them created work for glaziers.
