There arent enough words to describe how good the Les Mis show is, simply outstanding.

The ending is real "goose bump/hair standing up on the back of your neck" stuff. (Just had to listen to it again)

"I dreamed a dream" by Fantine is another staggeringly brilliant bit.

When are you going?
Trip report please.

Want to go and see it again now !!

Trip report please.

Went on Tuesday 7th

The show was ok. Javert and Enjorlas were excellent, really powerful voices booming out the songs which is what you want. Javert was a really good actor too, he understood the role and portrayed the character in a convincing manner.

Thinking about it, the best performance was from Eponine. She's the only one who I thought, I'll look up that name and remember it. (Nancy Sullivan)

Marius and Cosette did the job, but didn't bring the house down.

Gavroche got on my nerves. Little stage school brat with little stage school toff accent playing a French street urchin didn't wash with me. Shouldn't be too harsh coz he's like 12 or something, but still.

Fantine sounded flat as anything. Kinda glad when she died tbh.

Jean Valjean was only ok. He was perhaps a bit wet tbh, didn't have the physical presence that is required of the character imo. (His enormous strength is what tips off his identity to Javert)
This Jean Valjean looked like Javert could easily overpower him rather than the other way around. The fantine death scene where they have to stage fight a bit, it looked distinctly amateurish and underprepared.

Jean Valjean and Fantine were both understudys so the above is kinda understandable.

A good show overall, not worthy of an ovation but was worth the time and money.
I'd go again, but get seats in the dress circle. Our vision of the top of the stage was kinda obstructed a bit from where we were in the stalls. I'll put my hands in my pockets and pay for £50 tickets rather than £40 tickets next time.

Seen Les Miserables 10+ times in part due to the Mrs loving the show and she has been 20+ times. Shame Gavroche wasn't good as when he is shot can sometimes bring a tear to the eye.  Cry

The death of Eponine had my cold cold heart feeling a little, but that's about it. I think maybe because I've listened to the soundtrack albums so much, I was desensitized to the more emotional scenes.

Having said that, I've watched Forrest Gump about 15 times and that always gets me. When he's talking to dead Jenny under the tree.  Cry

Shame you were a bit disappointed and didnt have the best cast. I saw it about 2 years ago and it was worth every second of the standing ovation.

Bad beat on your part IMO

Not at all. I'm a bit odd and think nit picking it afterwards can be half the fun.

I definately enjoyed myself, the whole trip was pretty amazing.
