I'm crossing Laos off my 'places I must visit' list.
She might be about to give birth to the new messiah:
Quote
Controversy envelopes Samantha. She has been in prison since August 6, 2008, and yet she is due to give birth on September 6, 2009. Khenthong Nuanthasing, the Lao government spokesman, spoke to the BBC Tuesday morning. When asked whether Samantha became pregnant in the prison, he replied: “That’s impossible. A man or guard cannot act in that way *** she was pregnant when she was arrested in August.”
One might be sceptical at this. It would mean her gestation period was at least 13 months which, while plausible were she a blue whale, is not what we expect of human beings. Later Mr Nuanthasing changed his version of events, indicating that she might have been pregnant when she was arrested, but that she lost the first baby while in prison.

This comment made me lol
This poor lass was raped in prison and those goons thought that they would be able to sweep that crime under the rug by swiftly executing her. Every guard who worked there during the time of conception must submit to a DNA test. Granted, this kid screwed up (if she is really guilty). However, the punishment must suit the crime. She is not a criminal mastermind - just a naive kid who made a stupid mistake at worst. In any civilized country she would have gotten away with probation and community service (of course she would have to cooperate with authorities in convicting her pimp). Honestly, now I am beginning to understand why our troops have to go on an ass-whooping expedition to some of those third world hell holes. Imagine if Taliban regimes where to be left to their own devices. Also, I blame people from the civilized world for visiting those dictatorships. Why should we inject our tourism dollars into piss holes that do not have a rudimentary understanding of human rights. There are plenty of places where you can spend your tourist dollars such as Florida, French Riviera, New Zealand e.t.c
