I'm guessing he'll be disappointed when he tries to bank the comedy cheque, I'm figuring a sort code of 65-43-21 and account number of 12345678 are not going to fly.

I've been asking my bank for that account nr and sc for ages, just incase people try to cash them. Apparently Goodwin already has it Sad

would that not mean the money would come out of your account though?

True story: I have a friend who has an account with a very well known Building Society. They applied for an upgraded VISA card rather than a cash card and were declined. On asking why, they were told that they didn't use enough cheques...so you'd be surprised at how important cheques can be.

other than the giant comedy one last night I couldn't tell you the last time I saw a check let alone used one. I've certainly never had a chequebook on the a/c I have at the moment

I remember moving to the UK in '99 and standing behind someone in Tesco. I noticed them paying by cheque...I just thought WTF?Huh? I remember seeing my dad pay with them in the 80s but surely not after that.

Seriously. I have a chequebook and have used it once in the last 2 years when PayPal wasn't working and I bought something from e-bay.
