I know, it's dangerous to have an opinion sometimes but better to have one than to not.
Luckily my missus agrees with me on the childcare thing and I know what she says goes.

and back to ellen - hats off to the girl for winning the tog gear thing - do you think the fact that she weighs 5 stone less than the men had anything to do with her time?

Can't comment on the mum being a mum thing - don't think about stuff like that. I don't know what's wrong with a gal going out and pushing herself?

She's got plenty of time to do all the girly stuff.

Perhaps she didn't find a good enough man for her at Uni? Perhaps some bloke told her she wouldn't ever be good enough to do something like that, and that's why she has become so driven?

I do think the days when a woman feels "complete" when she has a man and a kid are long gone - thank goodness, not saying it's not nice, and some women will be happy with that - and good luck to them.

Would you be saying this about a man who was driven to go around the world in a teensy boat?

I certainly think her selection pool will have increased now, suitable man wise.

Interesting stuff..

I'd think he was a bit sad and lonely as well.
6 months of the year, alone on a boat. I don't get it.

Fair point, but that's not exactly what you were saying about the girlie though Smiley

Some people have a need to push themselves to the limit, or a desire to achieve beyond the norm. In this case, combine with with someone who's happier on the sea than on the land and you have something extraordinary

Ellen used to have a long-term bloke according to her manager, the relationship is never publicised - I don't know whether they are still an item as this was a couple of years ago. I can tell you tho that her eyes are mesmerising when you meet her and she is the nicest and most fascinating person I've ever had the good fortune to interview.

i dont see the big fuss about ellen, if she wants to sail round the world good luck to her! if i wanted to stay at home and play poker all year then good luck to me. It seems as though everyone thinks shes some kind of superstar. and i dont think she deserves to be a dame.

I think she deserves her award she's a good woman for the U.K to have as  an Ambassador.
She's clever brave and positive. Willing to have a go not only to take part. But to be a winner.
I bet if she ever becomes  lazy she'll make a great poker player.

Regards
