The County cricket championship could be won by 1 of 3 sides playing their final match - the BBC website has a live text commentary and the following has just appeared:

From Horners in the TMS inbox:"With Somerset going top, my mood is as black as the Old Trafford weather. Over the course of the season I have made hefty investments on a well known internet betting exchange in Notts, Yorkshire and Lancashire and had either of the former pair come good I would at least of recovered a significant amount of cash. Somerset winning the title would cost me a bundle."
This text commentator tipped Somerset at 10/1 at the beginning of the season. However, I am no gambler, so did not back it up with the cold, hard cash.

Brent?Huh?Huh?

 Grin Cheesy Grin Cheesy Grin

Certainly sounds like me and the sort of position i would find myself in.

Unfortunately i don't really like cricket (except for The Ashes) and it might just be the only sport i've never had a bet on.

What a great finish to the season on the final day.

Somerset need 181 runs to beat Durham off about 20ish overs.  If they do it they win the title.
If they lost then Notts are champions.
If they draw, then Notts need 2 more bonus points in ther match against Lancs.
Notts are currently 365/7 so need to get to 400 runs then declare and then take 3 Lancs wickets - they have approx 30 overs left in the day.

My monies on Somerset but it is going to be close.

This is all very familiar. Notts have been one of the best County sides for the last few years but have spectacularly blew up in every competition. This season they have lost their last 2 games after being clear leaders and this game has been a washout till today.

Of course I consider Notts my county side, so they obv don't like winning things.

Somerset lost 3 early wickets and have given up the run chase.

Notts made it to 400 with 1 wicket remaining!!! - They now need to take 3 wickets in 16 overs to win the league on most games won as points will be level!

yep great finish.

Like to see Somerset make it, as they kindly gave us (Hampshire) the 20/20 title Grin

Lancs 1 wicket down after 3.3 overs - Notts favourites now.
Nothing to stop Lancashire declaring though if they wanted to!!!
