You could actually argue, at the time, that Rounders>Super System in terms of being a poker primer.

Film is dated now but was so good when it came out
Staple Must-Watch for anyone who plays though surely
I forced my ex girlfriend to watch it so I didn't have to bother explaing poker stuff to her
***DISCLAIMER*** Wouldn't advise unless in very strong relationship or your capable or not incessantly commentating throughout it.

Miramax broke the exciting news in press release on Thursday: “Miramax and the Weinstein Company today announced an agreement to create sequels to some of Miramax’s best-known properties and to partner on potential new television shows and special edition home entertainment products. The first films to be produced under the agreement will be sequels to ‘Bad Santa,’ ‘Rounders,’ and ‘Shakespeare in Love.’” The list of potential projects listed later in the press release included “Bridget Jones’ Diary,” “Cop Land,” “From Dusk Till Dawn,”
“Swingers.”
“Clerks,” “Shall We Dance,” and “The Amityville Horror.”
My all time favourite movie, not sure I wanna see a sequel but would much prefer to see them do that than rounders.

It will be bad imo. Rounders is an ok film at best, it is the best poker film but that's not hard. Back when Rounders was released the poker world was a bit mysterious, so it was a brilliant primer to get people interested and want to find out more about the game, this time round we live in a world where Phil Hellmuth is going to be on a celebrity dance show, Annie Duke wins the celebrity apprentice and Beppe from Eastenders is a GUKPT champion. The other thing I liked about Rounders was the sleazy undergroundness of it all, these days the better players would opt to play online or in Vegas to find the soft games, anyone who goes to Teddy KGBs to play would be a fool. Rounders 2 needs to be a significantly better film this time round to be in any way entertaining or to create a new boom.
That said its guaranteed a profit as every poker player (this cynic included) is going to watch it.

All of that
It could be a great film if they have genuinely creative and intelligent people in it who
(a) mainly know how to make good films
(b) understand a bit about the dynamics of the poker 'world'
It will probably be awful.

I actually like Rounders as a general film, although I did watch it after I got into poker, so I am probably subconsciously biased. It definitely is a film I recommend to any serious or recreational player, or anyone in the mood to watch something a bit different. I'm really hoping Rounders 2 will be a good sequel. To be fair, all these recent attempts at poker films has been pretty disastrous.

Watching Damon having conversations with his girlfriend tilted me so hard though. It's so classic.
Excellent film, thanks for making me watch it still no real idea how I didn't see it when it first came out!

Looking forward to it. The first was great, with Norton and Matt Damon in it again, surely it will be worth a viewing.
