Accomodation costs in London
«

It looks a possibility that I may have to move to London for a work placement.
Just wondering how much I can expect to spend on accomodation for just a room somewhere? Ideally not that far from Central London.
I would have imagined around £6-£7k?

Define 'not that far' from Central London.

If you are happy to share a flat/house....ball park figure of £500 a month including bills, for something reasonable in west london within 30min traveling time to the west end (oxford st etc)..
Check out Gumtree/London.

Nick is obviously prepared to slum it more than me or - I'd be looking more at £800 inc bills.

just had a quick look and saw this.

Could be crap or OK........you need to spend a bit of time visiting at what you can get for your money....there's a fair bit of choice/price!....but be prepared to act quick when you find what you like.
Failing that, there's a lovely flat in East Molesey, with lots of TV's, that I'm sure you could kip at for a few weeks.

Aye, sounds good! Thanks for having a look for me, just wanted some personal experience of costs of flats and so on for when I move there.
It might be not until June or July yet.
If I can do the whole month for £500-£550, I'd be ecstatic!

Where I live is FANTASTIC. As above it is £600 not including any bills, very decent sized house for 3 people. You won't get any cheaper.
Right by the thames, private residence, tennis court to share. Hilton hotel next door with a gym for about £50/month.
quick bus to canada water tube station, or rotherhithe station. door to door to where i work in London Bridge in 25-30 mins. 35 mins for housemate to her office in Green Park.
Highly recommend this area. Dalston is pretty good too for value/location.
All the northern teams that play milwall away stay at the hotel next door too!
