I'm looking to get some new skis, currently have some Dynastar contact 9's but they are only 67mm under foot, i love them on the piste but i'm getting murdered in powder. Looking to replace them with something around about 80mm. Seem to have condensed it down to one of the following three:

VOKL RTM 80's
Head Rev 80 Pro's
Salomon Enduro XT 800's

I don't know if there is much interest on skiing on here, let alone in depth skiing advice but I'm throwing it out there. They are all within £80 of each other with bindings from Snow and Rock, bonus being although the VOKL's are slightly more expensive they have the new horizontal Marker bindings.

i dont know how much you are paying and how often you ski, but i good friend of mine is very advanced and he always hires as he hates carrying skis

however, rather than get the usual hire dirge, he goes in when its quiet on day 1, chats to the owner of a decent shop about snow conditins, off piste stuff, fresh trax skiing, and then says "got any decent skis I can take" - pretty much never fails

sorry cant help with the oriignal question

Ski too often to rent, and wouldn't rent anyway its a ballache to sort once you get to the resort, the equipment is never great and you can never trust its been looked after properly.

When i'm heading down a mountain at 70mph i like to be sure the bindings are safe Smiley

Marker bindings are the nuts however You do know that the XT 850's are marketed at skiers who like to go fast on every type of snow.

Get the Markers on those bad boys.

84 underfoot though on the 177's also not sure where i can get them in the UK. Did think about them but going from 68 to 84 might be a bit much

When you got technical figures wise I phoned my dad. Last time I owned skis and went regular I was on 195's and I'm only 5'9" so you'd have been on 210's plus lol

He tells me that Vokl's are superior to other makes especially with how the edges are made as they stay sharper for longer and turning on em is effortless.
He skis on Vokl's about 3 times a year but always gets his through his mate who runs the Ski school in Borevets.

So your initial instinct was right to go for the slightly dearer ones.
